“I’m sorry, but I couldn’t help but overhear my name,” Kisuke said, smiling his polite smile; the one reserved for strangers. Ichigo wanted to scream, bare his teeth like a wild animal, let Zangetsu take over so he wouldn’t have to be in his own mind, at the sight of it turned onto him. “It’s always a pleasure to meet someone interested in my work. What’s your name?”
Caught in a brief moment of lunacy, Ichigo considered the thought of taking him by the shoulders and howling, I am Kurosaki Ichigo, and I would burn every realm in this forsaken world to ashes if it meant you’d look at me and see me again. I have known you in nearly every way it is possible to know a man; I have ripped and mangled and torn apart what used to be my universe’s space time continuum to see you whole and well and mine and you dare to not recognize me?
He did not say this, of course; not even as an afterthought, though the urge to was very strong. That would've served as a terrible first impression. So instead, he said shortly, “Shiba Ichigo.”
