Daniel Molloy is many things. A caring brother willing to fly across the country to help his sister with their deadbeat father's funeral. A (mostly) recovered drug addict who occasionally still dabbles with coke, and okay, just a bit of nightly codeine. A self-described 'bright young reporter with a point of view'.
He is not, in fact, a queer. It's important that everyone around him, including himself, is very much aware of this.

Things get weird sometime in April. Because Daniel could swear someone has been following him.
Not often, but sometimes.
It’s just a prickling at the back of his neck, a faint blur when Daniel whips his head around that could be the lamplight. It only ever happens at night. Usually when he’s in San Francisco, but there’s a few times he’s walking down Telegraph Avenue, so late it’s early again, and a coldness seems to whistle past his ear.
