Klaus never wakes up gently. It’s something Dave notices within the first few nights of his arrival. It's the same pattern, every night. It starts with him talking in his sleep, whispering, pleading. Sometimes Klaus will shock himself awake with a gasp. Sometimes he'll sit up so suddenly it nearly gives Dave a heart attack, his eyes wide eyes staring into the empty space in front of him, haunted by… something. At first, Dave doesn’t ask what. They’re at war, after all. Klaus is hardly the only person with his ghosts and demons.
(I couldn't stop thinking about Ben telling Klaus he talks in his sleep and... well, this was the result.)

On this day, however, when Richie makes his way to the corner of Jackson and Witcham and comes to a stop under the road signs to look around, there is no Eddie in sight. In fact, there is no anyone in sight, the street completely and utterly bare of cars and people alike. It’s unusual, that’s for sure, and it sends an uncomfortable chill down Richie’s spine, but he chooses not to think too much of it, instead just rocking back and forth on his feet and waiting for Eddie to arrive.

Summary
For Eddie, senior year is supposed to be an under-the-radar kind of year. He's been avoiding all of his friends for months and his mental health has been steadily declining. Why rock the boat and make everything worse? His plans consist of getting into the local community college (easy) and avoiding Richie, the worst sort-of-ex-boyfriend ever (considerably harder.)
Then Bill drags him to a stupid party, and Eddie's plans are thrown through a loop. Suddenly, "under-the-radar" seems like a cop-out. Eddie decides, once and for all, to stop settling for decent, for alright, for enough.
Eddie's going to take his life back if it fucking kills him.
