Summary
Touching someone else’s soul is a very intimate thing, requiring absolute trust. Cradling one in your hands, even more so, because it is so easily extinguished, so bare and vulnerable. To hold someone’s soul is to know them deeply and completely. Nobody comes through this sort of thing unchanged, is the point.
You cannot hold someone’s soul without loving them.

Summary
As soon as Voldemort apparated away, Harry could tell. Nagini could too, he knew it in how she began to coil more firmly around his body.
Remus seemed to steel himself. “Harry, Harry now is our chance, we can-”
Nagini let out a loud hiss, neck arching into a powerful S-shape as she anchored herself on Harry, and he winced. She was heavy, and her coils were tight. He knew she meant to be protective, but… “Nagini, you’re hurting me,” He told her softly, lifting his hand that wasn’t trapped beneath the heavy snake to run down her back. “I’m not going to go with him, but please-”
He couldn’t even look at Remus, terrified that the man would have a disgusted expression on his face, shock and horror evolving into hate - he’d seen it hundreds of times before.
(Harry works on a revolution. Voldemort patches his broken heart.)

Summary
Snape does not know how to teach, always shouting rather than guiding his students to the correct answers, so why would he know how to teach Occlumency? Harry's mind is far more fragile than he knows, and tearing into it rips him open to bleed.

Summary
He wondered if the Order were watching him, like they had been last year. No letters had arrived, though his bedroom window stood open as far as it could be against the bars and had since the first night. If they were watching him they knew everything.
Or maybe they had gone to Dumbledore and the man had told them that it was all their imagination and that he was perfectly happy here.
Lupin. The Weasleys. None of them had taken the time to speak to him on the platform, just to stand around looking out-of-place while Moody threatened his uncle with Harry cringing under the man’s ever-angrier eyes.Did any of them even care about Harry? Just Harry, not their precious prophesied saviour?
Who knew, really.
Harry stared up at the ceiling and thought about how he was sorry about leaving Hedwig, but nobody else, not really.
They had left him first.(The Dursleys kill Harry. Voldemort puts him back together.)
