Summary
Anno Domini 1951, fifty years after the failed Fertility experiments, the world still deals (somewhat successfully) with the mutations the experiments brought. With the advent of successful mechanical wombs, and a resurgence of female fertility, Carriers finally won full civil rights, and a new type slavery was abolished. Still, in many small towns and rural parts of America, in isolated communities, carriers were still viewed with suspicion, distaste, or horror.

A really fascinating story about Dean without actually featuring Dean. An excellent exploration of John &Sam’s relationship after Stanford. Ambiguous ending, well worth the read.

A gen story, I don't read a lot of gen but this was brilliant, so twisty and thoughtful. I didn't like any of the Winchesters for good parts of the story, but that is *NOT* a complaint! I loved that I looked at them without fanon eyes and could see how this was very much the way their lives might have been. Beautiful, scary, and poor Sam. Brilliant characterization, fascinating OCs.
