"Except, maybe barty wanted more. Maybe he wanted more than being Evan's friend. Maybe he made a fool of himself just to see him smile, to hear his laugh. Maybe he looked at his face for a reaction, before giving his opinion on anything because he wanted to see what Evan thought first. Maybe he liked the way Evan would playfully push him away when Barty came too close. He liked how Evan would look at him, an unimpressed look on his face, when Barty did something stupid. Maybe he liked the way Evan's ears grew red when he was drunk. He liked how Evan's smile starts small and slowly grows bigger. He liked the way Evan's shoulder's relaxed whenever Barty sat next to him. He liked the way his eyes crinkled when he laughed. He liked his stupidly creative insults, and how Barty could never think of anything smart enough to say back. He liked him. He liked Evan. How pathetic."

“What if he turns out to be forty?” Evan wants to know then.
Stupid question, because it doesn’t matter. It’s some short summer thing, nothing serious. And his heart most definitely doesn’t nearly stop whenever he looks over to them. There’s something about him that makes Regulus want to sink his teeth in.
“Oh Evan, you underestimate me here, I’d fuck him anyway.” He says eventually.
“Reg, that’s eighteen years.” Evan taunts him.
“So what? He’s hot.”
