In which cop!Sakura and gangster!Suo meet, fight, and fall in love (probably).
Written for WindBreakerWeek2024Day 1. This man knew all along who they were, and he was serving them tea like they weren’t here to dig dirt on him in order to arrest him and his merry band of criminal friends. All of a sudden, Sakura wasn’t just embarrassed; he felt like he’d just been played with and he was pissed.
Day 2. “Why are you being so nice?” He just didn’t get it. In the end, what was it that Suo wanted from him?
Day 3. ”Well, they aren’t you, Sakura-kun,” Suo gave him another quiet, little smile that was definitely doing something to Sakura’s chest, if his heart beating painfully against his ribs was any indication.
Day 4. “Ah, such a pure and kind heart you have, young Sakura,” Umemiya praised him, though Sakura was sure the older man might be half-mocking him.

Summary
Shen Qiao, a deer hybrid who’d escaped the awful fate of being captured and experimented upon like many of his fellow hybrid shapeshifters, was saved by a wolf hybrid named Yan Wushi after being betrayed by his own kind. When Yan Wushi offered to help him rescue his clansmen from Lin Chuan, an institute infamous for experimenting on hybrids in the name of finding a cure for the virus that’d wiped out the majority of human population several decades ago, Shen Qiao was glad to accept his aid, only to fall deeper into the wolf’s entrapment.

If Yan-langjun decides Shen Qiao is no longer worthy of your time and attention, then so be it. I have never fooled myself into thinking we share the same aspirations in any way.”
