Bobby was observant — he had to be. Managing the Huntr/x girls meant paying attention. He noticed Mira’s protectiveness, Zoey’s excitement when she shared her interests.
But Rumi stood out. She looked strong, but Bobby saw the quiet flinches — at raised voices, sudden touches, her full name. He noticed how she slowly began to cover up, layers growing with the days. He knew what that meant.
She tried to stay strong for the others, but Bobby saw the cracks. So he kept her busy, grounded — little things to remind her she wasn’t alone.
He wasn’t perfect, but he cared. And he made sure Rumi knew she was seen.

Summary
Rumi is a prodigy PHD student who wants to study the biology of Pandora, a planet far from her dying planet. She hopes the planet has the key to solving the climate crisis. If she is diligent and careful, she might be able to accomplish it, as long as she doesn't interact with the natives. They don't know about humans yet.
Zoey (friendly name for Zokeri) is very familiar with humans. They destroyed her ancestral home and killed her tribe's chief. The remnants of her tribe all have to seek refuge with a section of the ash tribe on the far coast. Though they are accepted, cultural differences keep her world unstable and it doesn't help that she has a crush on the Chief's daughter.
Mira (friendly name for Mirkatkaina) hates her new home, its cold, its noisy, it smells like fish and she has to mix in with the sea Metkayina and deal with all their issues on top of her own clan's. Like the one main ash clan, her father is tempted to ally themselves with the starpeople, though that would cause an uproar. It would especially upset the traumatized cute girl she really wants to mate with.
Jinu the horse was bred for one thing. War. He can't have war though, so he chooses all other forms of chaos.

"She noticed Bobby shuffling nervously next to her. The street lights trickled in through their limo’s tinted windows. Sunlight Industries was hosting a fundraising gala, and Rumi needed to attend to please the board members breathing down her neck.
Normally that would have been fine, nothing she wasn’t used to at least.
But Rumi was not feeling good today. It had started early this morning, before the sun had even peaked over the horizon. She woke to the awful sensation of cramps tearing through her abdomen, not unusual with her cycles, but still way more intense than she’d previously experienced."When an unexpected tragedy strikes, Rumi is left to grapple with the fallout. Meanwhile, Mira and Zoey must come to terms with their own doubts and regrets as the trio struggle to figure out how to keep moving forward as fate plays its hand.

Summary
Celine was put in an impossible situation. Run the Sunlight Sisters record label, try to keep demons out of the world in the absence of two hunters, and raise a child that wasn't hers, all on her own.
Oh, and of course, just to add to the difficulty of her situation, the kid is half demon. She's lucky she's so stinking cute.

I've seen so many stories completely villainizing Celine, which I'm totally interested in exploring don't get me wrong, but I also disagree that that's how she is in canon. She's a lot more complex than that, I think. That being said, this ALSO isn't based on canon. This is Celine doing a better job at being the parent Rumi needed.
Also note that the first chapter is a prologue and not really in the style that the rest of the fic will be written in, it's just like that for atmosphere!
