Summary
Another sound knocks against the door, and Satoru freezes in his spot.
"Hello?" A voice from the other side reaches Satoru's ears, a bit quiet and muffled and so, so human. It's sounds achingly familiar, sounds like the voice he used to giggle and squirm against whenever it whispered teasingly in his ear. A familiar and loving sound that would wake him up every single morning of his youth with a soft kiss and a stare full of such admiration. But it also sounds like the voice that left him behind, the voice that gave him a heart just to break it. "I know there's someone there, by the way. You don't have to be scared."
"That's not a zombie," Tsumiki mutters from behind him, no longer stuck to the corner of the room and instead back by his side, expression clear of any previous fear.
"It's not," Satoru mutters back, just as shocked.
(Years deep into the apocalypse, Satoru comes face to face with Suguru, his ex and first love — and he is quick to realize that there is something terribly, terribly different about him.)
