Summary
Kate is speaking wordlessly now to Tyler through a heavy, expectant stare and Tyler’s gaze is flickering all over her face, clearly working hard to divine her meaning. Just barely, Javi stops himself from rolling his eyes at him from over Kate’s shoulder as he accepts his goodbye hug and decides that his selfless, good deed of the day will be to help Tyler Owens get a fucking clue.
[...] Javi’s back in his seat and buckled in, hands at nine and two before he realizes that despite himself, there’s a pull in his gut to stay put and see how this plays out. He isn’t sure whether or not Tyler is actually going to drive off — as brain-dead as Javi’s always thought the Tornado Wranglers’ whole deal is, he doesn’t think that he thinks Tyler is dumb enough to just not pick up on what Kate had been putting down… does he? Tyler does happen to be the only one of his crew with a college education but god knows a degree has never been a good guarantee of intelligence or even common sense. Is Tyler really about to start up that fugly truck of his and drive away right now? From Kate? He doesn’t know. What he does know is that he’s annoyed at how invested he is in finding out.
