None of Yuuji’s wildest dreams could’ve ever even remotely imitated the immediate, all consuming, choking relief of seeing Fushiguro’s living, breathing soul with his own eyes. The water that's been sitting in his lungs, the awful suffocating pressure that had been leaking into Yuuji’s chest little by little, day by day, rising and rising until he’s drowning in it, retching and hunched over as he gasps for even a single breath— it recedes, eases just a little, calms enough to allow his head to break the surface for a minute and breathe.

Summary
He hadn’t intended to bump into him, in fact the majority of his school career had been spent in a delicate dance attempting to achieve the very opposite. It wasn’t personal, it was just that Itadori was… well he was weird.
He was loud and stubbornly popular despite the fact he seemed to take zero interest in anyone outside of the two people in his freaky ghost club. He had been scrawny and scruffy for as long as Megumi had known him and had then disappeared on a random Tuesday, only to arrive back two weeks later with a shock of pink hair, creepy face scars and, weirdest of all, the hoodies that had been hanging off of him before were suddenly tight, like, really tight- not that Megumi had been looking- it was just… a fact!
