Hoshina studies him. Not clinically, not professionally. But carefully. His eyes travel over Narumi’s face, searching. As if trying to find something there. As if trying to understand.
He doesn’t.
And then, as if nothing has just passed between them, he says, calm as ever, “If you want this to work, you’ll have to trust me.”
Narumi’s jaws tightens. His chest feels heavy, tight in a way he doesn’t like.
“And if you want this to work,” he replies, voice quieter now, rougher around the edges, “you’ll have to stop acting like I’m a liability.”

He can’t tear his gaze away from the man standing in the middle of the set.
Gorgeous. Utterly otherworldly.
Then their gazes meet. And time stops. Narumi holds his breath. Because he feels those crimson eyes locked onto him, piercing straight through him.
The man is truly looking at him. Narumi isn’t imagining this.
The model smirks. A deadly weapon. And Narumi knows that the man wielding it is fully aware of his own power. If he wanted, he could have killed the photographer right then and there.
Narumi already knows. It's going to be a nightmare. That man is a demon walking on Earth. And he’s ready to eat him alive.
It’s a tragedy, really. A disaster of epic proportions.

Summary
Narumi Gen remembers the day his life changed.
In that chaos, Narumi saw a pair of ruby eyes fixing on his own lifeless magenta ones.
A boy, still young, his movements elegant even in violence. His face was suddenly close—so close that Narumi’s breath caught, his lips parting without thought.
The boy's arrival was ethereal, a vision carved from death. To Narumi’s eyes, he wasn’t human at all but an angel of death, come to save him.
But the boy who saved him, Narumi would learn soon after, was no angel at all.
