Reigen’s out of breath too, he realises, pulling at his shirt collar with a finger, a (nervous, more than exhausted) sweat clinging to his back. He looks down warily at the tree roots’ destruction, nimbly avoiding touching any of the plant. Nothing would really happen if he bumped his foot against one, he thinks, so why is he avoiding it?
This immediate thought is exactly why he stays as far away as he can.
