"In exchange for my sister and my father's freedom." Elphaba could hear her father faintly breathe his relieves out behind her. "Let me take the consequences of his actions," Elphaba said solemnly, and it seemed like the Beast's outrage waned, just a bit, leaving the slightest chance for optimism.
Or, Nessarose was captured by a Beast. While saving her, Elphaba finally confronts the borders of mundanity she always wished to escape.

Galinda's lips tugged into a nervous smile. "Well, yes, but–" The truth is, she was already hard, she sat cross-legged to hide it—suddenly, her pants felt too tight to wear. Galinda lightly grasped the hem of Elphaba's skirt. "What's this for?"
"For me to wear," Elphaba stated, bluntly. "That's the purpose of every article of clothing, I thought a fashion aficionado like you would know."

Summary
Galinda faces a lot of attention problems, this is one of those trials:
Galinda is smart. There's a but. Whenever something grows to be tedious (to her at least), she steps into a lack of attentiveness.
But right now, in "The Book Place": same case, different cause. Elphaba is within her range of sight, and so Galinda steps into the same lack thereof. Elphaba read to her the materials Galinda ought to study for tomorrow's exam, it wasn't exactly tedious, no; she couldn't help but steal glances at her ever so beautiful girlfriend in between her reverie.
