“You’ll regret it,” Alec says before he can catch the words. He still can’t look at Magnus.
Magnus is quiet. “How can you think I’ll regret choosing you?”
Alec doesn’t answer. Didn’t you regret it last time?, he thinks.
“Please try to be happy for me,” Magnus says softly. “For us.”
And the thing is, Alec wants to be. He wants to bask in this, but he was selfish once before, blinded by it even, and he’s promised himself he’d never do that again.

Maryse returns the next morning to the shop, coffee in hand, eager to see what Magnus did with the place after she decided to turn in for the night. She isn’t sure what to expect - she told him not to stay too late, that she could always finish up whatever is left in the morning - but whatever she does expect, it isn’t to find Magnus sitting in one of the chairs in a corner reserved for reading. Alec of course, flushes predictably, pink spreading adorably from the tips of his ears and down to his chest, because despite having shared Magnus's bed for over three months now, despite having heard filthier, more sinful things spill regularly from his boyfriend's lips, he never seemed to be able to get used to them.
Still, while this particular shade of embarrassment was usually accompanied by lust that headed in the opposite direction as the color in his cheeks, it was now confusion that dominated instead.
“You- you’d want that?” Alec asks, blinking up at Magnus whose lips only curled in a devilish smirk.
