Summary

“You’re fucking kidding me,” Mo Ran swears as his eyes sweep over the two long gashes along Chu Wanning’s side, his face complicated. “What, you were just going to rinse this off?”
“I can take care of myself,” Chu Wanning tries, though he catches a glimpse of Mo Ran’s hands and finds himself craving their touch. As if reading his mind, Mo Ran reaches forward with his other hand, his fingertips brushing the skin right beside the claw marks.
To his utter mortification, Chu Wanning lets out a small but audible whine. Mo Ran’s fingers pause and Chu Wanning hopes whatever poison must be seeping through his bloodstream, kills him.

“There she is, darling. Go say hello.”
Narcissa nudged Draco gently. He tried to duck behind her skirts but she tutted and swept him forward to greet the little girl standing across the room.
Draco’s first thought was that the girl was very pretty. He didn’t want to stare or be weird, so he chanced glances at her out of the corner of his eye. She looked to be about his age or maybe a little younger, with dark, loosely curly hair and big serious eyes rimmed with wet-looking lashes. Her cheeks were pink like someone had just scrubbed her clean, and she was wearing a little blue dress with neat white lace on the sleeves and collar.
“This is Hermione,” his mother said. “We got her just for you. She’s going to be your new friend.”

Summary
No matter what Draco does over the years, it seems like Hermione can't see past the boy he used to be. If being cruel is the only way to get her attention, then he can live with that, even if it means he'll never get to really have her the way he wants to.
Hermione is in a tough spot. She needs money to pay off her father's debt. And it just so happens that Malfoy has money and is interested in giving it to her - if she'll do things for him, that is. How lucky for him that she's in no position to turn down his help.
Even if she'll never love him, at least he can have this, right?
