Maekar's expression darkened. "Mind your tongue. Your brother is my son, it will never be right for me to mate him—I ought to whip you for your disrespect, boy. You will take Duncan as your sworn guard and nothing more, he will remain at your side as Daeron stays at mine. I will never allow this marriage and mating to proceed."
His son bares his teeth at him, "Like hell."
Four times Maekar Targaryen misses his sons and everyone notices + the one time his sons actually comes back home.

platonic soulmate like so many were in the realm.
It had torn them apart regardless and he always heard the whispers of how peculiar Targaryens were, how a father bonded to his son in such a way seemed normal to the rest of the realm yet when applied to the Targaryens—it was horrifying. It had not helped how much Daeron clung to him after his nightmares and how much Maekar let the boy get away with, his mark pulsating with the need to soothetakecarelove.
He finally finds his littlest son being bald of all things and sticking himself close to a knight that looked tall enough to hit his dunderhead on the doorway frames. His baby son had squeaked out that Ser Duncan was his soulmate and he would squire for no one else but his Ser. Maekar had almost lunged towards the hulking hedge knight across the table yet his brother's Alpha scent had kept him pinned and soothed. His oldest brother did most of the talking and took assurances from the knight regarding Aegon Targaryen. And then Aerion of all people—ends up being the man's second soulmate.
Maekar had nearly fainted on the spot in seething rage.
Aegon had thrown a whole hissy fit in the solar, clinging to his Ser and demanding that Aerion not come close to his knight—that his older brother would hurt his Ser just like he had hurt his little cats in his childhood. The screaming match between everyone in that room had lasted for hours, his oldest brother Baelor looked like he wished to be anywhere else but here in the room. Across from him now stood his son, Aerion Targaryen who looked striking with his silver hair and violet eyes. The boy was a beautiful Omega, a rather common gender in Westeros with the Alphas being the least common. Maekar Targaryen himself was an Alpha, a twin to his oldest brother in terms of gender.

"As if the babe will be hurt by anything I do with you as the sire, ser," Egg snarked, his ethereal face bright in the sunlight in a way that made Dunk's chest ache with a strange blend of pride and unworthiness, "You are strong as an ox and I have no doubt the babe will be too, considering how heavy he sits on my spine."
The mention of the child as his—as theirs together—heated his blood and quickened his pulse. He rarely acknowledged of how the pregnancy had come about, dancing around the circumstances with awkward silence and averted eyes.
"That's not—" Dunk began then stopped himself, his brows drawing together in, "Your father will have my head on a spike regardless of how strong the babe is."
Years after Ashford Tourney, Egg is unwilling to let his knight abandon him. He accomplishes this by trapping the Alpha with a pup, of course.

Ch 1You needn't worry so much about the babe, ser," His Omega said lightly, "My cousin Matarys gave birth at four and ten to my cousin Valarr's child and both survived perfectly well."
His head snapped around, his brow furrowing deeply at what the Omega had said. Four-and-ten seemed so young to him, barely more than a child and the idea of someone that small enduring childbirth made his stomach twist uncomfortably.
"My cousin had just presented as Omega, hadn't even had a proper heat yet. Valarr said he was just teaching him what to expect for their marriage but everyone knows what really happened." There was a note of scorn in Egg's voice though whether directed at his cousin Valarr's actions or the court's pretense of ignorance, the Alpha couldn't figure out.
CJ 2 Behind him came Prince Maekar himself, his hard features set in a look that promised nothing good. Stunned silence had fallen over Prince Maekar's face when Egg deliberately threw back his cloak to reveal his heavily pregnant state. The Prince of Summerhall went so deathly pale that his Omega's scent soured. If it hadn't been for Prince Daeron hastily propping his father up by the elbows, he thought Prince Maekar might have actually collapsed right there in the courtyard.
