He glanced around the room, at the mess of sleeping bags half unrolled on the floor, and at the windows washed pale with moonlight. His eyes came back to Will. "So, uh... This might sound… dumb." He scratched the back of his neck.
"Okay..." Will stared at him with uncertainty.
"So, um. You don't really sleep. And when you do, you have nightmares." He said it carefully, like he wasn't accusing Will of anything. "And I was thinking, just thinking, that maybe… if you didn't want to be alone tonight... we could, um. Share one?" He rushed to the next part out before Will could even answer. "Not like... jus... just to make sure you don't have nightmares. Or if you do, I'm already there. So you don't have to wake up alone."
Crickets chirped outside. Will stared at him, heart suddenly doing something dangerous and fluttery against his ribs. Mike wasn't looking at his eyes now, because his gaze had dropped to the zipper of the sleeping bag, bracing for rejection. "Oh."
or: the night after Will discovers his powers, everyone expects him to be strong. the pressure is so intense that he can't even sleep, but luckily for him, his best friend Mike is there to comfort him.

Summary
Mike visits Will in New York during his last winter break. It's the first time they hangout after graduating, just the two of them. Mike is finishing his final book draft and Will is about to graduate, moving back to Hawkins next summer.
A blizzard paralyzes the city – trains, buses and planes all coming to a halt. Mike will be staying longer than just the weekend, bound to the childhood friend he's been questioning his feelings about lately.

“Will, can I ask you something?” Mike speaks up, more assured this time. “Yes,” Will replies softly, waiting. There's only the sound of silence for a long moment.
“Do you remember the painting that you gave to me last year?” He finally asks and Will's heart drops into his stomach instantly. Sitting up straight, he turns to face Mike who stares at him with furrowed eyebrows, his lips pressed into a thin, contemplating line. “The one you gave me in the van when we were looking for El?”Will nods. “Yes, I remember.” Mike swallows, turning so he’s facing him straight on. “I was just thinking. Thinking about what you said and about, well about everything and I just need to know for sure if, if—” he stops there, biting at his cheek. His eyes don't leave Wills, not once.
“If what?” Will asks and he feels terrified, that day rushing back to him like an uncontrollable wave of burning hot water. Lies, misunderstood words, false confessions. Mike’s lips part ever so slightly and then they close, his eyes flickering back and forth between Wills, searching for something he doesn't fully understand. “If what you told me was the truth,” he finally asks, his words a whisper in the darkness of the basement. The truth.

Summary
Will's in college now, and to his surprise it welcomed him with open arms. He's no longer some zombie-boy outcast, but someone who's friends with jocks and geeks alike. He even became friends (best buds) with Chance Romanillos. Despite the newfound joy, his heart still lies in Hawkins, in Mike Wheeler.
Mike decided to take a gap year (who needs college anyway), to write his sci-fi novel. However, as he's writing his 22nd chapter he finds out Will and the whole party is coming back for Thanksgiving, Will isn't alone though. He's brought Chance. Mike can't stop the sudden jealousy he feels seeing them make inside jokes together. What's going on?
Jane has left Hawkins for about two years now. She left to truly start her life and find herself, away from all of Hawkins. Even Mike. She wanted to find out all about Jane and leave Elle behind.
OR
Chance and Will= Fake dating. Mike gets angry and confused, suddenly college is a GREAT idea. Jane actually breathes and reconnects with herself --no "El" bs-- (she comes back dw)

Or, Mike is trying his best to find out who Spider-Man is, not knowing it's his best friend, Will Byers.
