Mike freezes in the doorway and feels the air catch in his lungs. Whether that’s on purpose or not, he’s unaware. Maybe blocking his airway is his body's way of doing him a favor, making him invisible to this conversation that he was very much not invited to. He takes a stumbling step back as quietly as he possibly can, which is difficult in his growing state of panic. He needs to make his escape immediately before being spotted, but all too soon, it’s too late. Joyce redirects her gaze to the doorway at the sound of his shuffling footsteps, and the shock in her expression inevitably prompts his best friend to turn around.

Alternatively, a rewrite starting at the coming out scene and attempting to implement my favorite fan theories and fix the hot mess the Duffer Brothers created.

A Vol. 2 and 3 rewrite of Stranger Things 5.
Why was the final fight with Vecna so easy? Why did Will have to come out to everyone in order to face his fear of losing his friends and family? Why was Will’s painting for Mike never talked about? These are some of the questions I had after watching the final season of Stranger Things, and here is my spin on what really happened in Hawkins Indiana, 1987.
Caution: contains Mike Wheeler with half a brain, Will Byers with most of a brain, Nancy Wheeler with a full brain, some death, some poor attempts at flirting, multiple dimensions, and the end of the world. Not exactly in that order.

Summary
They reach the next platform, Will first and Mike second. Will is leaning forwards against the railing, looking out at the Upside Down.
Mike walks up next to him, already grabbing the water bottle from his backpack. "Water?"
Will nods. "Yeah. Thanks."
Mike takes the lid off and drinks some before passing it to Will. He watches the careful way Will reaches for the top so their fingers won't brush even though that's a bad grip and there's a chance the bottle falls several stories onto the ground.
He keeps watching as Will takes a sip. Is there something more in the way he watches Will? Mike never really let himself consider it.

The title pretty much summons up the whole fic.
Name pretty much says it all. This is a rewrite from the finale of Stranger Things. However I will write more than just the finale. I'm just not sure if it will be in this story or if I will make separate works for that. We will see.

Though they have a tremendous task at hand, Will Byers can’t help but grapple with his own feeling amidst the chaos. Between mixed signals and underlying emotions, Will isn’t sure what to feel. Can he put aside his own feelings for long enough to save the world? Or will he crumble under the pressure of love?

That ending was mid af. I wouldn't call it awful, but it wasn't good. There are so many plot holes that need patching and lets be real, no way mileven was endgame when they have no chemistry. Also It was way too easy to easy to defeat vecna.
So hence a rewrite because Duffers, I am beyond disappointed in you guys.
