When Daryl arrived at the address that was written out on a little card for him, it was already getting dark. After putting his car into park, he double-checked the address and took another look at the tiny house in front of him. The neighborhood seemed quiet and deserted, with only a few dimly lit windows in sight. But that wasn't really any surprise.
After getting out of the car, Daryl stretched for a moment, feeling something pop in his back from the long drive. He breathed in the crisp evening air, the scent of pine trees and damp earth filling his lungs as he took a look around the street. At least it smelled nice here, very different from the city air in Smyrna, which was essentially a part of Atlanta anyway.

He arches, gasping, only to choke when he feels a solid weight pressed against his crotch. He realizes it’s Frank’s leg, his knee planted on the thin mattress between Matt’s thighs, and he freezes.
“That what you need, Red?” Frank mutters finally, shifting his weight so that the hard muscle of his thigh presses up. Matt makes a wounded noise that gets caught in his throat, but Frank must feel it beneath his hand, because he continues: “Yeah? That’ll shut you up?”

Nostalgia is hell of a drug, a morphine drip when the world is trying to kill you.
It’s funny, in a horrible way, the way the world is now. Victor was always curious to see what everyone would be like, with their fears bubbling to the surface, with their blood on their hands. Everyone would be dead, it turns out.
Curiosity killed the cat, he thinks bitterly.
The X-Men are dead. Logan was dead. He’s been dead for 552 days, give or take a few.
He knows how Logan kills, though. He knows that animal. And it sounded like Logan, albeit more messy. It could be him. Logan was so hard to kill, just like him. He might be back.
Victor missed his birthday last year. And this year.
Standing up, Victor makes a decision. He’s always been good at finding Logan.
