Summary
Ben paused, letting a variety of emotions cross his face, before sadness settled in.
“Did you think I would not recognize you the moment that I saw you?” he asked quietly, his deep voice rumbling across the room.
Rey blinked, shaking her head. It wasn’t necessarily the truth. She had just hoped he wouldn’t get a close enough look at her during his stay.
“I… uh… no, Your Grace, I didn’t. It has been some time…”
Ben frowned at that, taking three slow steps toward her. Rey could practically feel the heat radiating off of him as he approached.
“Why will you not call me by my name?”
Rey looked at him in confusion, glancing down toward her humble work dress, then back at him.
“It is my duty to refer to you by your title, my lord,” she answered simply.
“The Rey I know would rather call me a tosser than by my title.”
“Things have changed, my lord,” she responded. She could no longer afford to behave like a child. Her dignity was as threadbare as it could be already.
She watched in shock as Lord Organa-Solo looked her up and down, no doubt judging the state of her attire.
“Yes, they have,” he agreed in a hoarse voice.

Summary
In a galaxy where Ben Solo never became a Jedi and where Rey was recruited for the Resistance as a mechanic, the two meet on the Resistance Base and slowly but surely fall in love, the Force bringing them together to learn how to share their life with someone else.

“I mean… you’re a mechanic, a pilot, apparently a good gambler… and you just came out of nowhere with no formal training… you’re kind of phenomenal,” he said, running a hand through his hair.
“No I’m not,” Rey countered. “I’m nobody.”
“I severely doubt that,” Ben replied a bit more confidently.
“Well… you don’t know me.”
“No,” he agreed. “But I’d like to.”

Ben Solo closed his eyes as he rode down the elevator from the 40th floor to the lobby, trying not to reach up to his glands to scratch them. Somehow, it felt like he always caught the elevator that was dripping in the Omega’s scent. The one that wandered around the building without any suppressants. The one that smelled better than any Omega he had ever smelled before. -

“Ben?” she murmured.
Based on the twitch of his head, he seemed to be aware of her presence. But he didn’t say anything, or turn around.
“Are you… ok?” Rey asked after a minute of silence.
Eventually, he spoke.
“Why do you care?” he asked. It wasn’t in an accusatory tone. It sounded… defeated. It made Rey feel even worse for him than she had before.
“Just… are you?” she asked again.
Another pause.
“I’m just so… tired,” he ultimately whispered.
