Summary
"Texas doesn't handle snow so well. I was at Kroger when the storm was announced last night and was almost trampled by stampeding Texans in trying to buy bread and milk."
Tyler gives Jamie an appreciating once over before he remembers he’s suppose to dial back the flirting. "You look fine to me," he said, and instead of blushing and looking away, Jamie winks at him.
"I had to scale the cereal shelves to survive," he says solemnly, the corner of his lips twitching.

Summary
"I swear I'm not this stupid in my other classes," Taylor says, pulling his biology textbook out of his backpack.
"Hey no, I don't think you're stupid," Jordan assures him. "Some people are good at science and some people are good at languages and some people are good at math."
"I'm not great at any of those things," Taylor admits.
"Well, that's only fair, since you're really good at hockey."
"I have a good linemate," Taylor tells him loyally and they share a grin before Jordan sketches out the oxygen cycle on a blank page in Taylor's notebook.

Summary
Eddie didn’t text back in the 20 seconds Buck spent staring at his phone, which was no surprise. There wasn’t any response while he drove to the station, either, but that made perfect sense. Eddie was working today, and he was probably rushing to get there just like Buck was.
Buck wasn’t in the mood to stare at his phone all day, jumping out of his skin at every notification, so he removed the temptation and, in a spurt of newfound maturity, left his phone in his locker for the duration of his shift.
But there was no text when he checked around lunchtime, or when they got a lull after dinner. Or in the morning when his shift was over.
All of that he could easily rationalize away, but after four tortuous days, Buck accepted the fact that he’d been ghosted.

Summary
If Buck could build a time machine, there are three things in his life that he would change.
The first, and most glaringly obvious, is that he would have marched up to Chase Mackey and slapped the business card out of his hand. He then would scream at past-Buck and tell him what an idiotic move pursuing the lawsuit would be.
If that wasn't satisfying enough, he would go even further back to the truck bombing and position himself in such a way that when the truck went over it didn't just land on his leg. It would be kinder, he thinks, to have it all just be over. To save the 118 the extended guilt of his desperation to hang on to his imagined place in the family.
If he was the most honest with himself though, there was only one true answer for what he would do with his time machine. He would go back to before he was conceived and save the world the trouble of bringing Evan Buckley into it.
Unfortunately he hadn't figured out time travel just yet, and is instead stuck with the usual man-behind duties that comes with being the 118's biggest nuisance.
