Summary
"You've been through so much," Eddie says intently. "I can't take advantage of you." His body betrays him once again, though, confessing his true desire as his thumbs stroke against her upper arms. The thin white shirt does barely anything to hide the warmth of her body.
"It's just—" Abigail cuts herself off. Her hands grip his jacket, knuckles brushing against his stomach. She laughs softly, with a hint of self-deprecation. "I was kind of hoping I wouldn't have to leave LA as a virgin."

Summary
Buck builds up a plethora of second chances in his mind, an armory of perfectly crafted run-ins, all following a similar formula, all ending in the same way. Tommy admits to missing Buck, acknowledges that he shouldn't have dumped Buck like that, all while Buck keeps his cucumber-cool composure and graciously allows them to explore what their future looks like now.
No matter what happens, Buck is certain that whenever he runs into Tommy again, he will be totally, 100% prepared for what happens next. He will be completely at ease and staunchly refuse to get flustered by the sight of his ex.
That is…not what happens.

Summary
At his most stripped down, bare and vulnerable, wounded insides on display, he is only ever met with gentle hands wrapping his bleeding heart with gauze, as if it were the finest of silks. Bit by bit he has been stitched back together, the parts of himself carelessly thrown away over the years lovingly brought back into the fold. Every past version of himself merged into one, Buck and Evan alike. It's just him.

"Why don't you finish off my beer for me and I can drive you home." Buck halts, the prospect of true alone time with his captain almost worth the risk of losing control on the ride. "I can't drink any more, or I won't be able to drive," his captain says, in such a way that makes him seem truly remorseful about this fact. "And I would really hate for it to go to waste." Buck still hesitates, at this point uncertain if he can make it out the door as is. He looks down at the glass, sweating slightly on the table top. He can just barely make out the spot where Captain Kinard's mouth had been just moments before. His hand twitches towards the beer, and his captain goes in for the kill shot.
"Please?" And that's all it takes. Before he can think about it, Buck has the drink in hand, sucking on the rim where he swears he can taste the faint traces of his captain's mouth. When he sets the empty glass on the table Captain Kinard is borderline smirking at him, a look on his face as if he's just discovered he won the lottery. Buck thinks there is a small chance he's in trouble.
Or, five times Buck isn't allowed to use the bathroom and one time it doesn't matter.

“You know, I never saw these,” Buck says, trying to sound light.
“You've been missing out,” Tommy says, blinking and turning a little in his seat so he's facing Buck more directly. “How—”
“I didn't know you'd be here,” Buck admits. “Is it okay?”
Tommy nods slowly, sliding his phone into his pocket. “Yeah, of course. How've you been?”
Buck winces and throws a couple of kernals of popcorn into his mouth. “Okay, I guess? Actually not. I don't know, it's—I’m fine.”
“Uh-huh,” Tommy says slowly, clearly not believing him. “Why don't you get back to me about that in a few hours?”
“Okay,” Buck says, holding the popcorn bucket toward him. “We can share.”
“Okay,” Tommy agrees, grabbing a couple pieces.

Buck decides to go to the movies and sees Tommy there.
