His arm was hurting and he was clutching at it, nails digging through the soft fabric of his blue haori. He stepped on a stick and slipped, tumbling to the ground. The earth was moist from the afternoon rain and clung hungrily to his clothes. Sasuke pushed himself upwards and forced his feeble legs to run. He could hear shouting behind him, someone calling out his name. But he continued running. Suddenly, his foot twisted. Sasuke crashed to the ground, mud and leaves sticking to him as he struggled to get up.
He had to. He had to run. The voice inside his head was screaming at him.
