Summary
Wyll Ravengard, once, became a mindflayer to save the world. Now he works as the Grand Duke, trying to restore Baldur's Gate and improve it for the people who live there. The patriars are less than thrilled with him, for all that people are expecting him to start courting. Karlach has the perfect plan: a decoy! A fake courtship, specifically with Astarion, who Wyll once tried to court back in their adventures.
Except Astarion is only wary of Wyll now, Wyll can't shake the feeling that someone is watching him at all times, and Karlach only grows sadder whenever Astarion is actually friendly to Wyll. But despite all the foreboding in his heart, he can't help but grow closer to them both.

Sometimes, Wyll manages to forget that Shadowheart trained for decades in the art of prying secrets from people and discovering painful weaknesses to exploit.
Wyll seems to have accidentally trained Astarion to be sweet in exchange for snacks and praise… which, he’s sure, must be some kind of unforgivable breach of trust. Thankfully, some of his best friends know a thing or two about brainwashing. Who better than an ex-Sharran and an ex-Bhaalist to help him deprogram his fiance?

After they manage to break Zosia free of the hive, Zosia and Carol try to navigate the field of landmines that is their relationship.
