Excerpt from Chapter 6: The Jealousy Thickens
Michaela is still in her mauve dress from the day, but Francesca dons her blue dressing robe. Michaela wonders if she’s wearing that sheer white nightgown underneath it. The one she was wearing the night Michaela returned. Oh, how Michaela would like to see Francesca in just that nightgown.
Michaela’s face grows warm as she thinks wicked thoughts, and she stands quickly to put distance between Francesca and herself. Francesca straightens up as well and puts the apple on the table. She looks at Michaela expectantly.
“Hello?” Francesca says, slightly annoyed and lightly amused.
“Hello,” Michaela responds, nervousness bubbling up inside of her. She wants to curse the alcohol running through her veins.
“You’re in the kitchen at midnight because…” Francesca gets to the point because clearly, Michaela is not following.
