Lan Qiren barely tolerated Wei Wuxian, but even he wasn’t cruel enough to ignore the boy’s sulking when Lan Wangji was forced into the role of Chief Cultivator. So, he let him teach. Gave him a workshop. Watched as he locked himself inside for months.
Then came the rumors: the Chief Cultivator had brought his wife to a conference; a stunning, demure woman who had the entire cultivation world enraptured.
The complete opposite of a certain demonic cultivator.
Lan Qiren despised Wei Wuxian. He truly did. But as he listened to the gossip (he shouldn't), he couldn’t help but think of the boy at home; waiting, keeping the Jingshi tidy (poorly), cooking warm meals for his little family (disastrously spicy), and watching the door for a husband who rarely returned.
