李丞相府被抄家之前，他的小儿子幸运地被李丞相的门生故吏救出，踏上了回上蔡故土的路。
基于上蔡李斯坑、李斯楼传说写就的文章。秦二世二年（公元前208年）七月，李斯被斩于咸阳，赵高带人来上蔡抄了李斯的家，在整个李斯的故居处进行了残酷的“挖地三尺”，最深处竟达丈余。久而久之，这里就成了一片芦苇丛生的坑塘。后人为纪念李斯，称此处为“李斯坑”。
李斯故居的东门外是一片水草丛生沼泽，树林茂密，荒草没人，成群的肥兔在那里出没，李斯公事之余，经常与其子到那里打猎。李斯直至被杀之前仍念念不忘此地。在去刑场的路上，李斯含着热泪对他的儿子感叹说：“我再想和你出上蔡东门牵黄犬逐狡兔还能得到吗？”
李斯楼，是李斯的乡下故居，李斯被害后，其幼子在亲朋的掩护下得以幸免，藏匿在李斯楼。直到现在，李斯楼村的居民都姓李，自说是李斯的后代。他们自秦至今，留下一个习俗：即在清明节扫墓时不在坟顶上放置祭物（即圆形土块）。理由是李斯被杀没头。这是让李斯楼的人们永远记着李斯被赵高杀害的冤案。——引自百度百科“李斯墓”词条
