Summary
Viktor and Jayce have been living in their cottage by one of Zaun's streams for two years now, after the Arcane spit them out in a universe similar to but slightly different from their own. Building body augmentations in their workshop and subtly helping to further Zaun's budding revolution, they've found a comfortable rhythm. Viktor may be an 8 foot tall magical cyborg, and Jayce's mental health might not be ideal, but they're making it work, rekindling their relationship to the best of their ability. Things are going so well, in fact, that Jayce decides it's time to pop a question that's been eating at him for a while now:
“Did you ever think about having kids?”

"Ah," the stranger hums. “I see. This timeline is quite different from the others. No looming threat of the Arcane unravelling the world. No great cataclysm. Though it seems that peace came at the expense of… our relationship.”
“What the—," Jayce grits out, still clutching at the floor for balance. "What the hell— are you talking about?”
The old man looks at him, a fond smile spreading across his face.
"So much regret," he murmurs. "So much love buried under guilt. You hide it well, but not from me. Never from me.”
Jayce opens his mouth to protest, but the older man kneels down, hands rising to cradle his face.
Jayce must still be intoxicated. This isn’t his partner— can’t be. He doesn’t even know what kind of creature is wearing Viktor’s face. And yet, he leans into the touch involuntarily, eyes fluttering shut as he gives in to the warmth he’s imagined for so long.
“Do not fret,” the man says softly. “I can fix that."

Summary
“How?” Jayce asks breathlessly. The figure doesn’t respond; instead, they lift a slender hand, covered in strange blue veins and runes, and for a moment, it looks like the figure might drop something from their hands to Jayce’s gloved ones before they pause.
In a universe two steps from canon, the Arcane Herald exists as a patron god of Zaun. At age 8, Jayce encountered this god, changing the course of his life. At age 14, he is discovered by the Herald’s order and told he’s the god’s Chosen, his mortal consort. At age 18, Jayce is sent to live in the Commune, the heart of the Herald’s order, to ascend to his destined status.
Given a year to prepare, Jayce is paired with an Acolyte named Viktor to teach him the ins and outs of his role. As time goes on, Jayce finds himself drawn to Viktor, unable to stop himself from falling for the other man. Jayce finds himself torn between his growing feelings for Viktor and his destiny with the Arcane Herald. Meanwhile, Viktor is holding onto a secret of his own. The only question is if this secret will bring them together or tear them apart.
