“What do you mean,” Yanfei asks slowly, putting her cards face down on the table, “when you say ‘you and Aether aren’t dating’?”
Xiao watches her fold her hands together in front of her as if she’s getting ready to hear his defense in a mock trial and take serious mental notes. “Exactly that,” he says.
There’s a short silence, and then Ajax says, “Wooooow.”
“I’m sorry, I thought — I’m sorry,” comes Ganyu’s sheepish apology. “I just assumed.”
“It’s fine.” And really it is, because it’s not the worst assumption to be made about him, and he’s had to dispel this kind of rumour before.

Summary
The problem wasn’t that Scaramouche was the most beautiful man that Ajax had ever laid eyes on in his life. It wasn’t that he was uncomfortable identifying when one of his friends was hot. It wasn’t even that Ajax had never found men attractive before.
The problem was that it was Scaramouche. Scaramouche, who left all his work until the morning it was due and then chugged Monster mixed with Red Bull to do it all in one manic sitting before passing out for the following 24 hours. Scaramouche, who had taught him ten different ways to say “have sex” in English and then cried laughing when he tried to repeat them in his Russian accent. Scaramouche, who genuinely believed that the earth was flat but passionately argued on behalf of climate change activists everywhere.
