Summary
Some people can say Mydeimos, last prince of Castrum Kremnos, has a betting problem.
Mydei, however—in the most politest of terms—is in it to win it.
In not so polite terms, he calls everyone else critical of his betting skills losers. He admits that it’s a bit toxic of him, but that’s to show that he doesn’t take bets lightly at all, and more that he honors each bout with utmost dignity and sheer competitiveness.
So the moment Mydei sees the emblem stamped on the flags of the city-state, he turns to Hyacine and says, "I bet you three balance coins that that's our monster."
Hyacine sputters, even as Little Ica eyeballs the emblem and agrees with a solemn, "Doo doot."
There's a unicorn. And a fertility festival. Mydei's a virgin and that shouldn't matter until it does.

Ch 2/3 the plot thickens… i wonder if theyve found themselves in a pocket dimension or time loop on accident and phainon (or mydei?) is the unwitting conduit? They feel a little ooc to me in the way that they dont match my interp of canon but they are well defined and consistent within the work so im not super bothered. Looking forward to the conclusion of this mystery

“You won’t break my heart, will you?”
“You’ll break mine first,” Mydei whispers against Phainon’s mouth. “Kiss me.”
Phainon still wavers. The softness of his lips is right there, close but not close enough, when he should be pressing them hungrily over Mydei’s and swallowing all the words and feelings before they can get out.
“Kiss me,” Mydei insists, closing his own hands on Phainon’s stupid choker and pulling. It sounds like he’s begging; just another thing he can add to the long list of things he usually never does: going to someone’s place after just a few drinks; kissing them in public as if the entire world didn’t matter. Falling in love.

Mydeimos' voice quieted as his stoicism faltered, “Would… you pretend to date me?”
Castorice blinked, that wasn't what she expected.
“I… huh?”
Mydeimos decides he is tired of his roommate's complaints about him being single. So he asks for help from Castorice, a quieter girl bothered by unwanted advances, to pretend to date.
He doesn't know that his roommate, Phainon, had catastrophically failed at reading the room with his teasing. And he also failed to notice that Phainon is in fact, interested in him.
