Summary
His thumb traces slow circles around the nub of bone in your wrist.
“Kim?"
He pulls his hand back. “I’m sorry, I’ve been drinking.” He smiles. His pupils are dilated and the warmth coming off of him is feverish and so tempting.

They would build their relationship from the ground up once more, resetting from zero and starting all over again, only this time, they swore they’d get the ending right. He’d be alright – they’d be alright.

Summary
Harry answers the door almost immediately. “Kim!” he says, his eyes widening when he sees you. He grins, something crooked and bright. He’s wearing the sleazy racist robe, its dark blue silk slipping off one shoulder. It’s barely on. The detective is both more and less than you remember - taller than you, leaning on the doorframe with one forearm, green eyes glittering. Alcohol, maybe. You try to subtly peer around him into the apartment. You can’t *quite* tell. But here, in this context - well, he’s just a man. One that’s been made familiar to you in the last three weeks. One that makes something flutter, traitorously, in your lungs.
“Do you, um. Do you want to come in?” he asks.

Summary
“Kim,” you say, and he blinks at you in the middle of putting out his hand. “There’s something fucked up going on.”
“You must be from the 41st. I’m Lieutenant Kim Kitsuragi—though you seem to know that already.” He seems tense, for some reason—and his hand is still out. “I’m afraid I wasn’t told who you are.”
“It’s me, Harry! Kim, don’t you remember me? Fuck, there’s something really wrong happening.”
“If you’re referring to the dead body that has been hanging from a tree for seven days—then yes, I agree. It is pretty wrong.” Kim is looking at you with his mouth slightly pursed. There’s no recognition in his eyes—he looks at you like you’re a stranger.
“This can’t be happening." Kim clears his throat.
“You are clearly going through… something. But I would appreciate it if we could focus on the case for the moment.”
“Oh my god,” you say. “We did it already, Kim, but for some reason I’m the only one who remembers! This is some—some cosmic joke from the universe, I’ll tell you that.”
“Okay,” Kim says, slowly. “I’m going to give you a moment while I talk to the manager. You’re going to sit down and sort out whatever it is you’re doing. And then we’re going to take down that corpse.”

Summary
There are other things, too, that Kim recognizes, as Harry shoves them back in the box with shaking hands. A matchbook from the taqueria they often go to, because Kim likes the tacos, and Harry likes the enchiladas. A flyer from a jazz show Harry had dragged him to. The newspaper is, of course, the Revachol Times article on the big motor-carriage theft ring bust they’d done, the one featuring a picture of Harry and Kim posing in front of a stolen and recovered Favre 353S. Harry had pled and cajoled and whined until Kim had finally, as Harry had put it, “autographed” it.
“Harry,” Kim says now, roughly, “what is this?”
“It’s not what it looks like.”
“That’s good. Because it *looks* like some sort of-” *shrine,* Kim’s mind supplies. Kim continues. “-collection, of, of - things of mine,” he finishes, not at all satisfied.
