There’s no rational order to it.

It starts out as post-trauma dreams.
Then the sleep deprivation which is swiftly followed by the waking dreams-slash-hallucinations and the occasional nightmare when he’s exhausted enough to fall asleep. Only it’s at this stage that he feels the burning, sees the flames, and ends up smelling like burnt corpses.

Summary
The worst part about this post-hypothermia world for TK, the doctors warned the men, was a weakened immune system. They said over time it would get better, but for now, a simple cold knocked TK out for a week, which is what was happening now. TK had come home, sniffling, going straight to bed when he got home from his shift. Ever the caretaker, Carlos had whipped up a batch of Gwyn’s matzo ball soup for when TK was hungry and put a glass of water and a Gatorade next to his side of the bed.

Buck had never felt so alone as he laid in his car staring up at the roof, trying to get to sleep on its hard seats. This year had official been the worst year of his life. First he was blown up and had a fire truck land on his leg, then he had an embolism and was caught in a tsunami and now he’s dead broke, living in his car as he doesn’t want to tell anyone how bad things had gotten.
