Akutagawa watches his lips as the weretiger mocks him. When the teasing finally stops he leans in and steals a kiss. “I got what I wanted in the end.”

Summary
Atsushi was scared; he was almost always scared these days. It was unfortunately part of the deal of being in the Mafia, part of why Dazai had to keep him so close, why they had this routine, this ritual. Chuuya was jealous. But it was better he not get wrapped up in this.
And yet he let Atsushi get wrapped up in this instead.
I can protect him this way. And he . . .can be my humanity.
This is the one universe where Odasaku is secure and writing, but what does that mean for everyone else Dazai cares about? When they were both in the ADA, he and Atsushi were happy together . . . and so Dazai uses his influence as Atsushi's boss to try and force that happiness here, further digging into his own delusions. But there is only bitterness and hurt for both of them.

“As if,” Atsushi snapped, and Akutagawa began to regret making that no-killing deal. “I bet you don’t even know the first thing about wooing someone.”
“Of course I do,” he retorted, because there was no way he was backing down now. Let alone admitting that the weretiger, of all people, was right about his inexperience.
“Prove it, then.”
Or, five times Akutagawa tries to prove that he’s the better protégé, and the one time he realizes Dazai's acknowledgment might just be an excuse.

“You poor thing,” Fyodor murmured, brushing his fingers along the boy’s cold, dirt-smeared cheek. He moved his hand over the boy’s lips to check for any sign of life and a faint, fragile breath brushed his skin.
Just barely alive. He wouldn’t last much longer if Fyodor hadn’t found him.
Fyodor hummed a low, thoughtful sound. “Your owner abandoned you and look at you now. How foolish of him to leave you all alone. But don’t worry—I’ll take care of you.”
