Dazai couldn’t see. He was gagged and blindfolded, his arms bound. He hears beeping and the gag is removed. He can hear someone yelling at him. What were they saying again?
They’re asking why the metal detectors are detecting metal in your body.
Oh. That makes sense. He would blame them, but he shouldn’t give the guards such information. They’d use whatever he said against him. He hears more yelling. Oh. He must’ve been quiet too long. May as well stay silent now.
Wow. What a genius plan.
Not like there’s much to do. When will these guards stop yelling?
Probably not anytime soon. They’re questioning your pulse, or rather, your lack of one.
Well they’re not getting an answer. They’re quiet now. Oh, they’ve put the gag back on. Ah, they’re moving him.
They’re taking us to the entrance of a cell. According to the layout, it’s the one you were planning to get.
Good. Gods, these guards are rather rude. They don’t need to shove him. Oh well, they’re removing the gag again. Ah, and the blindfold too. Damn, it’s bright. Oh, he’s moving.

Dazai's friends thought they were prepared. Dazai had been dancing with death for so long that they thought she had grown tired of him; however, when the music stopped playing, she went to find a new partner, and Dazai would never dance again. Or breath, for that matter.

Chuuya Nakahara was dead. He was dead, and he was never coming back. That was obvious, but when you are mourning, you go through a little thing called denial. Just like when you fall in love. You deny that they are gone, in hopes that maybe you will be right if you just don’t face it.
Osamu Dazai was not an idiot. He knew death like a close friend– he’d witnessed it, caused it, and he’d attempted to bring it to himself many times. He knew how it worked like the back of his hand.
But, as always his partner was different from the rest and managed to change many things about him. Brought new thoughts to him, made him feel things nobody had made him feel before. One of those new thoughts was, why wasn’t Chuuya home yet?
Realistically, Dazai knew. He knew that his husband was dead, that he wouldn’t walk through that door and announce loudly how he was home, and pretend to be annoyed with how Dazai didn’t eat the lunch he’d made for him, when really he was just concerned.
But, as was said earlier, when your loved ones die you grieve, and part of grief is denial.

There is a hidden drawer in Dazai's desk, only to be opened in the event of his death, and it takes three keys to get it open. The first key was kept on Chuuya's wallet chain, the second a pocket in Dazai's scarf, and the third sent away. Chuuya keeps the first key on him at all times. He gets the second key when he takes the scarf off of what's left of the body, and the third arrives in an envelope the next day.
