“I won’t ever really know them. Know him. Not like I was supposed to.”
As they sat in the quiet room, a deep sense of longing enveloped Hermione. She couldn't shake the thought that there had to be more for her best friend than just this. The Blacks had their entire history held within these walls– stories, secrets, heirlooms. Harry’s family had been a strong pureblood line, his connection to Deathly Hallows proved that. Obviously Godric’s Hollow was gone, but perhaps she could track down Potter Manor in the Hall of Records?
The weight of his suffering was too much for her to bear. She wasn’t going to let him down. Somehow, she’d find a way to tell him their stories.

You bury your face in his shoulder, tongue twisting in loops and riddles. Nothing comes out except strained half-sentences, “I just, I…”
Caleb gives a long-suffering sigh. He settles his hands on your hips, hovering and not yet touching, but somehow it’s still palpable. The possibility of it a sunburn. “It’s just like you,” he says, “to make me do everything.”

Summary
Harry approaches Hermione with a serious message: “Someone is chasing me down through time, and we need to catch them before they change the past and the future.”
The culprit, not able to find the Elder Wand in their universe, seeks it out in another —jumpstarting a journey for Hermione to not only travel through the decades but also through alternate universes as she’s tasked with figuring out just why exactly they are after Harry and the Elder Wand.
To add to the complication, Future Draco travels back in time to tell Hermione to bring him along.
