Summary
Taehyung stands at the register and listens to the tinny cover of some American pop song from a few years ago, and he waits, hoping the receipt printer isn’t going to up and break again as soon as he rings up whatever the person is here to buy. He gets lost in thought, his overactive imagination playing out a scene where the customer is really cute and sweet yet shockingly single, and they come up to the register all sleepy and late-night clumsy, and they giggle sweetly when Taehyung can’t get their receipt to print—
“Um,” a soft voice says, and then nothing else, the syllable hanging in the air like the person uttering the sound is scared to have said it. “Uh, I’m looking for an X-ACTO knife?”
(or: Jimin goes to a convenience store in the middle of the night to buy razor blades. Taehyung is the cashier who gets him to eat mangoes instead.)
