Summary
Dean’s been struggling for weeks to find a way to save Cas from the Empty. He’d hoped Jack would spare just a smidge of his new-found God power to do him that one last favor. In an act of desperation, he turns to Rowena for help. Summary
Dean Winchester was smart. Maybe he wasn’t Sam’s kinda smart, or fancy prep school smart, but he’d got through college on his own merit and he was quick and inventive and incredibly curious.
His curiosity led him to the small private library near his university, to indulge a secret passion and, just maybe, catch sight of the infamously strict librarian—he had a weakness for devastatingly clever jerks (and okay, maybe a slight issue with authority). But instead of an intimidating Dragon of a librarian, he only found the librarian’s soft-spoken assistant, Cas.
Quiet, shy guys with pretty eyes and handmade cardigans were not Dean’s type. So that couldn’t possibly explain why he kept coming back to the library, despite never once encountering the notoriously fierce librarian…

Very slowly, Dean turns. 'How'd you know I was here about a room?'
'Power of deduction,' says Castiel, leaning against the doorway. 'I mean, you're not after pot, and I'm pretty sure we haven't slept together.' He grins wolfishly, gaze sliding over Dean's body. 'You, I'd remember.'
Dean's been hit on by guys before, but never so blatantly, let alone by a semi-naked dude in a kimono. A hot blush warms his cheeks, and he covers his shock with cockiness, tilting his head and grinning. 'Sorry to disappoint you, Cas, but I don't swing that way.'
Castiel throws back his head and laughs. 'And you want to live here? What, did your friends put you up to this?'

Summary

Dean has half a second to delight in the realization that Castiel’s voice is apparently always that deep and gravelly, as opposed to being temporarily fucked up by the whole nearly dying thing, before Castiel kind of ruins it by offering Dean his hand to shake.
