Chapter 1: beautiful
Notes:
Ok so this is gonna be a chansaw fic because ive been meaning to get to writing one eventually. Just an fyi more often than not heather referrs to chandler. The other one’s go by their last names, after all heather is “head bitch.”
in later chapters their will be some homophobia so be warrned. Also later on there might be smut but its gonna be light stuff. (i cant write smut to save my life and its not like ive even tried to before.)
This chapter is just a kind of introduction to the fic, the main diffrence is veronica is actally smart and knows guys who carry guns to school are crazy and to stay away from them. Also this is mainly based off of the movies but ya know i might mention stuff from the musicial.
Plz leave comments and advice i already have all 15 chapters outlined and all i need to do is write them. Ps: im a slut for kudos.
Sorry for the long note
-xoxo, a really gay enby who want a GF and a farm.
Chapter Text
Veronica scribbles furiously into her diary. Kurt and ram were pricks crashing into any unknowing victim in the halls and smacking the lunch trays of ‘nerds’. Two of those very nerds happened to be herself and her best friend Betty Finn. The door to the bathroom opened and some faintly familiar voices began to speak.
One girl entered the stall next to veronica, making the girl freeze and pull up her legs so she did not get caught. Vomiting could be heard, Veronica wanted to check on the girl but quickly decided against it when she heard one of the other girls insult the one in the stall. Veronica recognized that voice now, it was Heather chandler herself.
What was her luck today, she got her lunch tray slammed on the floor and now she had to miss class to hide from the worst yet most popular girls in school. If it had just been the yellow one she would have been fine MAC seemed like the nicest out of the heathers, but she just so happened to be stuck with the traffic light trio.
Suddenly the bathroom door opens once more and the two heathers who weren't vomiting went quiet. “Skipping class?” the teacher Veronica recognized as Mrs. Flemming piqued in.
“We’re helping heather,” chandler chimes in as Duke begins vomiting once again. “As you can see I'm very worried she might be sick.” Veronica can feel the smugness in Chandler's voice.
“No excuses,” Flemming says as Veronica opens the stall. “Well well, who do we have here?”
Veronica hands Flemming a hall pass she had written, “Veronica Sawyer, we’re on a hall pass for the yearbook committee.” Flemming sighs before returning the hall pass upset her bust had been unsuccessful. As Veronica turns around she suddenly freezes. The heathers were all together now looking at her skeptically.
“Who are you?” heather asked looking veronica up and down. By the look on her face veronica could tell the girl didn't exactly like her.
“Veronica saw-” she gets cut off my heather, Veronica instantly taking a step back once she sees the glare duke is giving her behind heather.
“No, I asked who are you.” Heather scoffed perfectly manicured red nails snatching at the paper in Veronica's hand. “Hmm…” heather laughs before showing the hall pass to the other two heathers. “Not bad.”
“I-i-i do report cards and permission slips too, not just hall passes….” veronica squeaks meekly. “C-can i sit at your table just once... “ veronica fidgets nervously. “I mean if people thought you tolerated me then they might leave me alone.”
Duke scoffed, “dressed like that? In your dreams nerd.” Duke's eyes flicked to heathers before she shrank back.
Heather chandler glared at her making the girl jump, “Shut Up Heather!”
“Sorry heather.”
Heather walks up to veronica putting her hand onto her cheek, “for a greasy little nobody with ratty clothes you sure do have good bone structure.”
Veronica nodded, face flushing slightly eyes trained on heather. She heard McNamara say something about symmetry and meat cleavers but she had basically droned it out. Heather chandler thought she had potential… well that's what veronica got from that.
“Tomorrow dress in something less ratty and you can sit with us.” she says poking veronica in the chest. “Duke your brush,” she turns to McNamara, “and mac your makeup.” Heather proceeds to do Veronicas makeup telling her to show up to school with it looking exactly as she showed her, ‘otherwise veronica sawyer would be a nobody’.
….
Veronica ended up going to the mall after school to buy an outfit that she thought would be acceptable to the Heathers within her allowance’s budget. The next day she showed up exactly how heather chandler had told her to.
Makeup done perfectly, she had to re-do it twice to make sure it met Heathers standards, and clothing to match the new look. Once lunch-time had arrived McNamara had waved her over to the table excitedly.”Ronnie over here!” as veronica sat down mac tilted her head. “Ronnie is ok right?” veronica nods, she wouldn't exactly say no even if she had minded. “Great!” McNamara clapped her hands squealing.
How was she even a heather? She is so bubbly and nice.
“Those clothes are acceptable but we should go shopping later”, heather chimes in. “there not exactly heather brand.'' Veronica sighed and nodded; she had tried to pick something a bit more her style but clearly that wasn't good enough.
The three of the heathers began to chit-chat until Kurt and Ram had entered the cafeteria. “Hey ladies!” Ram said, taking a seat next to chandler with as much grace as a dead slug. “You want to go to a party tonight?”
“Get lost ape brains, were not interested.” Chandler quipped. The other two nodding in agreement.
Ram raises a brow at veronica, “And what about you blue?”
“Fuck off.” veronica said with a wave of confidence as the heathers nodded in approval towards her. The two huffed and walked off upset they had been rejected by heathers plus one, ready to vent on the nearest nerd.
“As i was saying,” Heather began, “we need to do our lunch-time poll. Here's the question.” Heather reads the question to herself lips moving as she mumbled the words under her breath. “This is so stupid, get a load of this.” “if you win five million dollars from publishers sweepstake, but on the same day what’s his face gives you a check, aliens land on earth and say they’re going to blow up the world in two days, what would you do?”
“That's such a weird question.” mac says nodding thoughtfully.
Heather and Veronica go over to the jocks asking them the question. And of course they get no noteworthy answer. Same with the next table they walk up to. “Who’s going to answer this damn question.” heather moans.
“We could try other tables?” veronica asks.
“And associate with losers no way.”
“Well you want answers.”
“Fine.”
“R-really?”
“Yes are you deff or stupid? now come on!’
Veronica nods, “y-yes heather.” she had never expected heather to heed her advice. The two go from table to table before they land on their very last one. Jason Dean, the new boy, his hair was a dark chestnut brown and he wore a trench-coat over his toned form. Veronica of course was totally into him, he radiated bad boy vibes.
“Greetings and salutations heather and friend. Where is the rest of the traffic squad?” veronica chuckles earning a glare from heather.
“Does it matter jesse james?” she asks with almost a bored tone.
“I suppose not, the less of you the better. So what would you ladies need from a man like me?”
“So we have this really stupid question.” veronica starts.
“Stupid questions do not exist comeing from you.”
“Well…“if you win five million dollars and aliens land on earth and say they’re going to blow up the world in two days, what would you do?”
“That really is a stupid question.”
“I told you.” veronica nods.
“Well I'd have to say I would probably row out to the middle of a lake. Bring along my sax, some tequila, and some Bach”
“How very”
The two of them go back and forth, Jason clearly flirting with veronica. “Let's go veronica! We don't need you drooling over trench-coat here.”
“Bye.” veronica waves as she is dragged off by heather.
“Bye.”
Once the two had sat down at the table heather bitched to her about how JD was not the type she should be associated with if she wanted to be a heather. McNamara nodded in agreement and duke piqued in saying he probably had a gun in that trench-coat.
Oh the irony. Kurt and Ram had seen veronica’ chat with the hot shot himself, ending up in a fight. Rambling something about a ‘no fags allowed’ rule. Once thoroughly annoyed JD pulled out a gun. Holy shit he has a gun. He shot it right between Kurt and Ram. Several students who had been watching the fight backed away and Veronica swore she heard a guy on the football team scream like a girl.
Maybe heather chandler was right, he probably was a Psycho. Afterall who the hell brings a gun to school? She turned to heather who had a smug i told you so look on her face completely unfazed by what had just transpired. “See, he’s not part of our crowd, he's one of the crazies.”
Veronica nodded, “and you were right.” this seemed to be the answer she had been looking for. Giving veronica an approving look and talking to the other heathers about their plans to go to the mall later.
“You will be able to go with us right veronica?” McNamara asks.
Veronica had spaced off, “hmm what? Sorry i was thinking.”
“You going to the mall with us?”
“Oh uh, yea totally i just gotta call my parents after school. The school office has a phone.”
Chandler scoffs, “you can use mine, we wouldn't be caught dead using the schools phone.”
Veronica nods, “r-right…”
…..
After school veronica goes to the mall with the heathers. “What's your fave color?” McNamara asked. Veronica raised her brow looking at her current clothing as if it hadn't given her away.
“B-blue” Veronica watches as the yellow clad heather skips off down an aisle of clothing. Once she returns she has several options for clothing.
“Navy blue or baby blue?” She shows Veronica the clothing in her hands eager for Veronica's answer.
“Navy..” Veronica cringes not sure how McNamara will respond, “...but not too dark.” the girl nods happly before skipping away yet again.
Veronica looked around spotting the other two heathers looking through clothing racks. They really didn't have to help her pick out these clothes. Heck she wasn't even sure if she had the money to pay them back she thought looking down at a few price tags.
I'm gonna have to get real good at kissing their ass’s veronica chuckled at this. Maybe if she got good at doing that she would be able to get through her senior year with ease.
She looked over to the heathers who were now all huddled together talking before they looked over to veronica and began to walk over. “Here try these on '' heather handed Veronica a pile of cloths and then pointed to McNamara’s pile. Veronica nodded more clothing being added to what was already in her hands.
Before she had the chance to escape to the dressing room duke put a single outfit on top of the pile veronica now had. Veronica tossed the clothes down, grabbing an outfit and putting it on. It looked similar to what the heathers wore that day. A blazer, white shirt underneath and a skirt that was a little too short for her liking.
Veronica opened the door searching the heathers faces for approval. Mac gave her a thumbs up and a smile, duke rolled her eyes but still nodded, and heather. Veronica was now looking at heather who was eyeing her up and down. “Better, now hurry up and try on more cloths.”
Veronica let out a sigh of relief before trying on more clothes and yet again showing them to the girls who had picked them out. Once they were done veronica had walked out of the store with at least 4 bags of clothes. She tried to protest as heather swiped her card. After all she didn't need this many clothes.
All veronica got was dismissal as heather proceeded to pay for her clothes.
…..
The next day veronica was invited to a sleepover at heather’s house. She looked around at the girls who were already drunk with a mix of amusement and shock. Heather was laughing at a joke Mac had told while Duke spun a bottle. They were playing truth or dare. Somehow Veronica had forgotten that the heathers were people so seeing the girls having fun was a nice change.
The bottle landed on veronica. Duke raised a brow, “truth or dare?”
Veronica paused, “t-truth wait no dare… wait..”
Duke cut her off with a sly grin, “too late you picked dare” Veronica waited silently for Duke to pick her dare, “I dare you to go jump into Heathers pool.”
“And here I was expecting worse.” Veronica gave Duke a wide grin.
“Whatever” Duke rolled her eyes, holding back a smile.
Veronica got up looking over to McNamara, “hey mac should i do a cannonball?” the girl laughed and nodded vigorously. Veronica quickly made her way over to the diving board looking over into the water.
The moon reflected softly over the pool as the water began to ripple. Leaves from a tree floating around peacefully. Veronica took a deep breath and jumped in making sure to pinch her nose with her hands. The water splashing as she came to the surface. Veronica looked up at the sky. It was a clear night meaning veronica could see every twinkly star that was in the sky.
“You guys should hop in its a good view.” Veronica teased beginning to swim while laying on her back. Heather chuckled at her before two of the heathers jumped in after taking off their pj’s. Duke looked at the others cautiously before sitting by the pool. The four of them were lounging about.
If this is how the heathers spent their time veronica would gladly go about her senior year. Then mac looked up at the other girls, “so are we going to kurt and rams party?”
“Depends,” heather said lazily, “we do have that Remington party soon.”
Mac nodds, “i heard it's supposed to be a few days after Remington.”
Heather sighs, “I guess we can go then. After all, all the popular kids are gonna be there.”
They sit in silence before McNamara asks, “So are you gonna go to Remington with us veronica?”
Veronica nods unmovingly as she floats around, “if heather’s cool with it.” Mac looks over to Heather who nods in approval.

Chapter Text
Life with the heathers had been a breeze, jocks stopped slapping her lunch trays, guys hit on her, and the students parted as she walked down the halls with the most popular girls at school. Veronica stopped at her locker putting her books from the previous class in and taking out the books she needed for her next one.
There's a tap on her locker door, she finishes grabbing her books before closing it. In Front of her is Jason Dean. She take a step back heasently
“JD.”
“Veronica,” he says with a smile. “How has life as a Heather been treating you?”
Veronicas brows furrow, why is he asking? She doesn't even know him. “It's been fine.” she lets out a sigh this clearly not being the answer he was looking for. “Why do you ask?”
“You don't seem like the kind of girl who would hang out with them.” he gives Veronica an amused look. “You are too good for them.”
Veronica scoffs. “And what do you know about me? That I talked to you once in the cafeteria?” Veronica jumps as a hand is placed on her shoulder, she looks back to see Heather standing behind her.
“You heard her Jesse James, get lost.” Jason scowls at Heather who has a shit eating grin on her face. Veronica watching JD walk away before looking over to Heather.
“Thanks.”
“No problem, you're a Heather now after all Veronica.”
The two girls walk to their next class, english. Something Veronica hadn't noticed before joining the heathers was how many classes she shared with the group. Veronica sat down behind Heather, the girl occasionally looking back at her to chat. The rest of the day went by like a breeze.
Being a Heather wasn't perfect, the other girls throwing jabs at her and each other but it was fun. Not something she had expected.
Veronica grabbed her backpack stuffing books and papers into it when someone tapped her shoulder. “Veronica Sawyer.” Veronica let out a sigh of relief when she saw Heather.
“Yes Heather?”
“Were going to the mall.” Heather said plainly looking Veronica up and down.
“We just went to the-”
Heather cut her off giving her a look that begged to say ‘and’ in the most sarcastic voice she could muster, “we all did, but this is just us.”
Veronica nodded to Heather confused as to why just the two of them were just going. Veronica slung her backpack onto one arm before closing her locker she might as well wait till they reach Chandler's car to ask.
Once the two reached her car heather waved to the other two girls who go into Duke's jeep. She looked over to Veronica raising a brow. “What?”
Veronica was just as confused, “what?”
“You clearly want to ask me something.” Heather tapped her thumbs on her steering wheel.
“Well i wanted to know why mac and duke weren't coming with us, mac loves shopping.” veronica sat down in the passenger seat of Heather's car.
Heather shrugged, “well i haven't exactly gotten the chance to get to know you.”
Veronica snorted, “so this is some bonding crap.”
“Cut the crap Sawyer.”
Veronica could tell that despite the bitchy tone there was a slight smile on Heather’s face. “As you wish your highness.”
Heather let out a chuckle before starting the car and driving off. Veronica just didn't get Heather.
…..
Veronica and Heather enter the food court section of the mall looking at their food options. “There's pizza but it's probably no good.” Heather turns to look at Veronica.
Veronica nods pointing over to a deli, “We could try that?” Heather turns to where Veronica had pointed.
“Looks less run down than the pizza place,” Heather sighs, “normally mac gets our food, i've never actually bothered with the food court.”
Veronica nodded yet again, “so your servants get you your food?”
“Oh please Veronica they are my friends.” heathers eyes narrow in a playful manner. “And so are you so go get me some food.”
Veronica laughs throwing out as many ‘at your service’ and ‘yes you’re majesty’ as she could before she was out of earshot. While she ordered food for the two she turned back to see heather sitting at a table looking at her. (a smile on her face)
It was odd seeing Heather so content. Unless Heather was drunk her guard was up constantly even around Mac and Duke and it was beyond Veronica as to why this was the case. Veronica’s curiosity usually put her in places she shouldn't be, that being said she knew she was going to try and figure Heather Chandler out. Veronica sat down handing Heather a soft drink and a sub sandwich setting a similar meal in front of herself.
“So if i'm your friend does that mean i can ask you questions?”
Heather looked up from her meal, “what?”
“I said-” Veronica was cut off as Heather waved her hand dismissively.
“I heard what you said,” she sighs, “but why?”
“You said we were friends, I want to get to know you better. See what makes Heather Chandler tic” veronica waves her hands about enthusiastically to get her point across.
Chandler laughs, “well then choose your next words wisely.”
Veronica nods, “favorite snack?”
“Corn nuts”
“Oh come on, those things are gross,” Veronica points her finger to her mouth pretending to gag.
“They're not that bad.” Heather rolls her eyes, taking a bite out of her sandwich.
“Favorite color.”
“You see how i dress.”
“But I asked you.”
Heather sighs, “red, but you know that was a stupid question.”
Veronica nods, “i know, but i want to hear it from you.”
Heather scoof’s, “whatever.”
“Why are you a Heather?”, Veronica leans back in her chair crossing her arms.
Heather huffs, “what do you mean why am i a Heather,” Heather sets down her food, narrowing her eyes at veronica. “I'm a Heather because I can be, I'm the most popular girl at this damn school, I have power.” Heather watches Veronica raise a brow.
“And does that make you happy?”
Heather rolls her eyes, “what do you think Sawyer, I’m above everyone!”
“But does that make you happy?”
Heather falters, what was Veronica trying to get at. Letting out a groan, Heather sat down crossing her arms to think about what Veronica's problem was. The thought couldn't be stopped from crossing her mind, was she happy as a Heather? Sure she had power but her only real friends were the Heathers. And really all she did was boss them around like the rest of the school. Heather pushed her food aside, resting her arms on the table in defeat “I suppose not.”
“So you do have a soul,” Veronica chuckled a smile on her face that quickly vanished as her joke fell flat. “S-sorry Heather.” Heather waved her hand in dismissal yet again.
“It's whatever, tell me something Veronica?”
Veronica lets out a hum in question.
“Why are you part of the Heathers?”
Veronica sits up now looking at Heather, “well if i'm being honest i wanted protection at first,” Veronica pauses, “but now i honestly enjoy it, not the bullying of course that sucks but i enjoy hanging out with you guys after school and being friends.”
“You like being my friend?” Heather asks, rolling her eyes and very badly holding back a smile.
Veronica nods, “yea i do.”
Heather and Veronica finish their food chatting as they walk around the mall a bit more before the two leave, “you know what Sawyer?” Heather chuckles, “for a former no-body you sure do know how to have a good time.”
Veronica chuckles noticing the way Heather smiles, “thanks, we should hang out after school more often.”
Heather nods in approval, “yea we should.”
…..
Her hair was smooth and shiny framing her face perfectly in the way it curled. Veronica sat behind heather Chandler in all of her glory. Perfectly pristine, strong as teflon, bit more than a shark when she was provoked. God i can't believe i’m drooling over Heather - Fucking - Chandler
Veronica shook her head taking her focus off of the blonde. She had other things she needed to worry about, not the way Heather's nose crinkled when she laughed, and certainly not the way she smiled when Veronica talked to her. God, I sound like such a pillowcase Veronica thought. No, she had more important things to worry about.
Like Jason Dean, the new kid who kept flirting with her and pissing off the mythic bitch Chandler herself. Sure the guy was charming but after the fight he had with Kurt and Ram she was gonna keep her distance.
I mean who brings a gun to school anyways?
Veronica sighed. Why was her school like this? Psycho boys with guns, jocks who harassed and bullied other students, and the Heathers. She wished she was at any other school besides westerburg. Then again who would protect her best friend since she was little, betty, from jocks. After all, being one of Heather Chandlers' minions had its perks.
Minions didn't seem right any more… After hanging out with them she realized they really did care for each other.
And after hanging out with Chandler the other day she learned the girl did have a heart. Heather didn't exactly enjoy her ‘perfect’ status. She wasn't sure why Heather felt the need to guard herself against her friends but she’d try and help the girl.
Veronica looked down at her paper letting out a sigh, right she had a test to take. She could think about her feelings later.

Chapter Text
Veronica and the Heathers had set up a croquet match in her yard, the girls taking turns with their respective mallets and balls.
“Gosh, they won’t expel him Heather, just suspend him for a week or something.” Mac lets out a sigh.
Heather scoffs, “they should throw his ass in jail, that was a real gun”
Veronica sighs, “they wouldn't do that, he used blanks. Macs right, they're just going to suspend him.”
‘I'm surprised they haven't already suspended him, what's taking them so long?”
“Probably afraid of the kid, afterall even if they were just blanks have you heard of his dad?” Veronica leans back on a tree swinging her mallet over her shoulder. “It's your turn Heather.”
Heather knocks her red ball into Duke's green ball. “That guy needs to leave you alone Ronnica.”
“Tell me about it.”
Heather and Veronica look over to Duke who quickly takes the opportunity to weigh in on their game. “Are you gonna take the two shots or send me out?”
That wannabe probably didn't even think of it, Duke holds back a scoff as she eyes Heather.
Heather squints at Duke before placing her foot on the ball. “You asked to be the red ball when you know it's mine. What do you expect?” Heather swings her red ball knocking Dukes ball near the flower bed. Heathers ball barely misses making it into the wic..
The girls continue to play croquet, Duke making her way back to the wic. When heather looks away, Duke rolls her eyes, That ditz can bite me, she's totally mental.
Mac looks over to the other girls. “are you guys excited for tonight?”
Heather nods looking over to Veronica, “it's your first Remington party Ronnie better not blow it.”
Veronica rolls her eyes, “will do, speaking of the party who’s the guy you set me up with.”
“Brad, he's friends with my date David, if David says he's very then he's very.” Heather hits her ball into a wic.
Soon enough Veronica's mom comes outside, “Heather your mom is here.”
Mac sets down her mallet, “gotta moter guys, anyone need a ride?” The other two Heathers nod following Mac inside.
Veronica takes some pate taking a bite, “I gotta motor if i'm going to make it to the party, love you mom, dad see you tonight.” Veronica's mom waves goodbye as Veronica heads out with her friends, her dad still reading the paper.
…..
“Corn nuts Veronica hurry up!” Heather barks at Veronica as she shuffles her way out of the car into the 7-11. Veronica lets out a sigh as she enters the store, she liked Heather sometimes but she couldn't stand when Heather was being bitchy. When there were people around she always had something to complain about.
Veronica turned into the aisle where they had the corn nuts, now would Heather prefer plane or bbq was beyond her. She didn't even understand why Heather liked them in the first place. Veronica grabbed one of each and turned around.
“Greetings and salutations Veronica Sawyer, I see that we got off on the wrong foot.'' Jason gave Veronica a coy smile putting his arm in her way. “Might I interest you in a slurpee or a big gulp?”
“I have a party to get to JD, now unless you want Heather to yell at you could you please move?” Veronica crossed her arms letting out a huff. When it was just her and Heather the girl could be sweet but left around others she was worse than roadkill left to fester in the summer heat.
“Speaking of your friend, do you enjoy her ordering you around?” Veronica scoffs at this ducking under JD’s arm so she can pay for her corn nuts and leave.
“That's none of your business, besides she's not like that.”
“Suite yourself just watching out for a friend.”
Veronica humms im mock agreement, “sure thing, just try not to piss off Heather ok? What are you even doing here this late to begin with?”
“I’ve been moving around all my life; Dallas, Vegas, Sherwood Ohio, you name it I’ve probably lived there. And there's alway a 7-11, it's what keeps me sane.”
“Really,” Veronica raises a brow. You don’t seem sane.
“Really, now did you say cherry or coke slurpee?” JD asks swavely.
“I didn't, cherry.” Veronica says heasently relief flooding through her as he gives her a look of approval. JD ends up paying for the corn nuts and the slurpee and Veronica rushes off to Heather's car. “Sorry it took so long Heather I ran into that JD creep.”
Heather nods, putting her hands out for the corn nuts, “I can see that, the nerve of that guy.” Veronica nods, Heather driving the girls to the party with little else being said during the trip.

Chapter Text
Music rumbles far above the crows cheers, Veronica weaves her way through drunk college students, beer in hand. She finally got away from her date, which despite Heather's good word ended up being less than very.
Veronica was drunk but that didn't stop her from knowing to avoid Brad, now all she needed to do was find Heather and ask if they could leave. She seriously wasn't gonna do Coke with some college druggie.
Veronica falls over and she feels like she's gonna hurl, forget Heather, I need the bathroom! Veronica stumbles her way into a nearby bathroom only minorly disgusted by the look of it, her focus on the toilet she bends over just in time. Chunks quickly going everywhere as she grabs the counter for support.
Heather walks into the bathroom looking into the mirror fixing her hair before looking down at the girl next to her, “christ Veronica! Drink much?”
“Heather, I feel sick…”
‘Thats your own damn fault for drinking so much,” Heather grabs Veronica by the arm, “come on let's go, you should have told me you're a lightweight'' Veronica mumbles her thanks as Heather wraps an arm around Veronica leading her outside.
Heather sets Veronica down on the sidewalk giving her a worried look, her voice noticeably softer, “you ok Ronnie?” Veronica nods but Heather isn't convinced. “Listen Veronica, how much did you drink?”
“Enough to make that annoying music go fuzzy,” Veronica chuckles, “did you know your spinning?” Heather sighs.
“Great,” Heather sighs, “do I need to drive you home?”
Veronicas words are slurred, “n-no no-no my moom will kill me.” she grabs Heathers arm, “do not tell my parentss I’m drunk.”
Heather furrows her brow to think, “you have two options Ronnie, my place or a park bench?”
Veronica laughs, “they mighty Heather Chandler offering to take me to her house after a party it's my lucky day~”
“Ah yes how very, now get up and get in my car,” Heather chuckles, helping Veronica up yet again. Heather sits Veronica in the passenger seat of the car, “hey Ronnie?”
“Y-yea?” Veronica turns to Heather, dazed by the quick movement, “woah hold up more spinning.”
Heather pauses for a second before continuing, “do you really enjoy spending time with me? And I mean just me, not me and the other Heathers.”
Veronica giggles, “ Of course I do Heather, you're like the coolest, prettyest~, hottest, most very girl in the school, and when you want to be you can be super fun and nice.”
Heather raises a brow chuckling, “I know I'm drunk, but did you just call me hot?”
“Shit? Did I? Oh gosh I'm so dead aren't I? Veronica lets out a soft groan.
Heather chuckles, “you are so smashed Ronnie,” Heather starts up her car, “besides, you're not all that bad yourself.”
…..
Veronica wakes up the next morning with a killer hangover unsure of where she is, as she looks around she notices she's in a red and white bedroom and with a second glance she notices Heather Chandler sleeping at the foot of the bed.
Holy fuck shes at Heather’s house, when did she get here? The party is fuzzy but she remembers feeling sick, and then Chandler… and oh fuck she remembered pukeing, please say she didnt puke on her. Veronica swiftly gets off the bed looking over to Heather who begins to rub her eyes yawning.
“Ronnie, chill, I told your parents you were staying at mine.” Heather mumbled, stretching her arms.
Veronica gives Heather a confused look, “uh what happened last night?”
Heather laughs deciding to give her a brief yet charming recap, “you don't remember?”
“N-no, but I remember being sick, please say I didn't puke on you.” Heather laughs, shaking her head. Ok that is a relief. But then what did she do, for some reason she can't shake the feeling something happened the night before.
“You got shit faced and started talking about how great i was,” Heather stood up. Veronica let out a sigh of relief, Heather had not brought up her doing anything stupid yet. That being said she was curious as to what she could have said. “Anyway we should just be able to chill here because it's a Saturday and all.”
Veronica nods, “did I say anything, uh- odd?”
“What do you mean odd?” Heather raises a brow knowing exactly what Veronica means.
“J-just forget it k. It was a stupid question.” Veronica grabbed her arm awkwardly. Heather walks over to Veronica.
Heather gives Veronica a sly smile, “you know what, you did say something…” Heather tisk’s, “I'm just not sure if you wanna hear it.” Heather looks over her nails smiling at the way Veronica squirms, clearly having fun with this.
“I-i did?”
“Yup.” She looks to Veronica, taking a step closer to the girl. Heather leans towards Veronica's ear and whispers, “so, you have a crush on Heather Chandler huh?”
Veronicas face goes red, “wh-what… n-no-”
Heather puts her hand on Veronica's cheek, “are you sure?” Veronica looks at Heather's legs shaking, if Heather knew then why was she so close? Was this some kind of game? Veronica finally notices the way Heather is looking at her. No not just her but her lips.
Heather proceeds to close the space between the two girls, Veronica can't help but melt into the other girl as they kiss. Wholly shit Heather just fucking kissed me, Veronica’s mind screamed as the other girl pulls away from her. Forget that, Heather Chandler was my first- ficking- kiss. Veronica stood there too stunned to speak.
Heather gives Veronica a sly grin, one brow slightly raised in a perfect arch, “you wanna know something Ronnie~” Heather Chuckles as she watches Veronica visibly gulp, “I think I like you too.”

Chapter Text
Heather and Veronica have gotten quite close over the past few weeks following the Remington party. While Heather and Veronica are trying to hide a budding romance Duke has a sneaking suspicion something isn't right. And I'll be damned if it's jealousy she swears as she follows Heather's cherry red Porsche in her jeep.
If she's going to get dirt on Heather Chandler she has a feeling this would be her perfect opportunity… and of course she's right. She parks a block away from where Heather had parked to not draw suspicion as she stalked her way towards the girls.
Duke's eyes go wide as she gapes at the two girls from behind a bush, the almighty Heather Chandler was frenching Veronica in a tacky skating rink's parking lot. Duke lifts her camera with a sly grin… being head of the yearbook committee really does have its perks.
…..
Heather and Veronica sat down in one of those run-down booths that you would find at a pizza place for children or a skating rink avoiding anyone they recognized from school. They could have rented a movie as Heather had requested but Veronica suggested their local roller skate rink for the location of their date. Didn’t Veronica know they could get caught?
Of course, Veronica knew of this danger but with Heather’s reputation, she had hoped most students who noticed them would write it off as typical Heather's behavior. And of course, most did, the Heathers were a tight night click and had always been buddy-buddy while knocking others down the social food chain.
Heather decided to break the silence leaning forward resting her arms on the table, “So Veronica, what’s the point? I mean c’mon it’s cheap pizza and tacky skates? A movie would be better.”
Veronica snorts, “The best pizza in Sherwood, besides, you look good in anything so I don’t see why you're complaining.”
Heather’s face went a bright red before mumbling something about ‘damn straight’ and ‘always’ before regaining her composure. “So where are the skates then you pillowcase?”
“Aw, how sweet, Heather Chandler getting flustered.” Veronica teased, “I’ll go get the skates.” with that Veronica flicked Heather’s nose and sauntered off to get the skates peeking behind her to get a glimpse of Heather's reaction. Heather’s face was once again almost as red as her blazer, shock on her face as she was still processing what Veronica had done.
Veronica returned with the skates putting on her own pair and then helping Heather up after she had put on her own.
“I don’t need help, Veron-” Heather slips Veronica, catching her by the arm.
“Sure thing princess.” Veronica says before helping Heather up. The two stare at each other before laughing.
“Excuse me Sawyer but I’m a queen”, Heather says, musing Veronica without the normal bitchy-ness she dawned at school.
The two of them laughed and ate the cheap pizza that Heather had offhandedly said ‘wasn’t all that bad’ once the date was over the two drove towards Heather’s place, Veronica had told her mom the two were ‘studying’ and she was staying the night at Heathers.
“Stop the car.” Veronica asked. Heather gave a confused look complied watching Veronica hop out of the car and walk over to the curb of someone’s lawn. Once Veronica sat back down Heather started to drive once again.
Veronica gave Heather a meek smile hiding whatever she had grabbed. Only once Heather had parked in her driveway and they checked that her father wasn’t home did Veronica speak up and show Heather what all the fuss was about.
Veronica held out flowers to Heather, “there Buttercups…”, she rubs her neck and chuckles, “They remind me of you. Y-you know because they're pretty…”
Veronica’s face goes red, “that was so bad, just pretend I never-” Veronica was abruptly cut off by Heather kissing her. Veronica jumping before wrapping her arms around Heather, Heather holding Veronica by the hips.
The two only part once they need to breathe. “It was cute Ronnie don’t think that much into it.” Heather grabbed Veronica's hand as the two went inside to enjoy snuggling on Heather's couch watching movies. Heather putting the flowers in a vase by ber nightstand.
…..
Duke paces about her room holding up the pictures in her hand, she finally had the power to get back at Heather for all the snide remarks she had made about her. All the times she made fun of Duke when all Duke wanted to do was impress Heather.
Duke laughed, you messed with the wrong girl by the end of the week you’re gonna be begging for my forgiveness. Her plan was simple: she was going to expose Heather Chandler for being the ‘dyke’ she was.
For now Duke had a phone call to make…
…..
“Hey Heather guess what I have?” Duke said with a chipper hum to her voice.
Mac furrowed her bows thinking on the other end of the phone line, “hmm Heather I don't know, it must be good though you seem awfully happy.”
Duke nods twirling her phone cord before remembering her friend couldn't see her, “you know how Heather and Veronica have been so close?” Duke's face dawns a wide grin, “I found out why.”
“That's great Heather! Tell me everything, I’m super glad that they’ve been getting along.”
Duke scoffs, “are you serious? She's been breathing down our necks for years and you're glad she's buddy-buddy with a no-body?”
Mac winces, “you know Heather cares about us Heather, and besides haven't you noticed how relaxed she’s been with Veronica.”
Duke let out a high-pitched laugh, more annoyed than humored, “She's a fucking dyke Heather, I have pictures to prove it!” Duke glanced at the pictures she had since sat down, “and the whole schools gonna hear about it in the paper.”
“That's not very, very of you heather she's our friend, Don't you care about her?”
“No, and she's not our friend!”
“Well she's my friend,” Mac glares daggers at her phone as if Duke would magically see this, “and quit being so homophobic.” with that Mac slams her phone onto the receiver.

Chapter Text
Duke is in the Yearbook committee’s room. Duke considers what she was doing was wrong, She knew Mac would never sound so spiteful towards her if she was doing the right thing…which meant this was wrong, right?
She shakes her head, no, Heather had put her down for too long. She deserved this, didn't she? And veronica… well they were friends… could she really do this to veronica. Duke clutched the Photograph in her hands, She had no room to be calling Veronica or Heather a Dyke. Afterall back when Duke had joined the heathers it was so she could get close to Chandler.
She gave a frustrated sigh, how did Veronica get everything she had wanted? The attention, the girl, the dates? How could she have done that with practically no work when Duke had been struggling to do it with all of her efforts?
And it was too late to back out now… she had already told McNamara… Regardless of her choices, it wouldn't end well. So now she had to follow through.
…..
Ram shoves Veronica into a locker yelling, “Dyke!” Both Kurt and Ram laugh before walking away. The other students weren't much better, whispering in the halls sending Veronica dirty glares. At least the day couldn't get any worse right? She furiously scribbled into her diary.
Veronica was wrong, so so wrong. Heather Duke gave her a (pained yet) snarky look as she walked down the hall (forcing) throwing snide remarks at her. (Veronica didn't know it was forced, didn't know how it hurt her former friend.) The bitch was so dead to Veronica. Duke had caught her making out with Heather Chandler, and now there was hell to pay.
Heather Chandler was who she was thinking about most. How had the other students reacted to Heather? Was she ok? Veronica had only hoped Kurt and Ram hadn't put their slimy mitts on her.
Once lunch had hit, Veronica had heasently sat down next to McNamara hoping she didn't yell at her or hit her like other students. Did Duke have no shame? Yea Chandler could be a bitch but she would never go that far.
McNamara gave Veronica an uneasy smile, “a-are you ok Veronica, I heard what Duke did, it was awful.” Veronica gave a deep sigh before putting her head on the table. She wanted to be ok but truthfully she was hurt. Hadn't Duke been her friend?
Veronica looked up tiredly before shaking her head, “not exactly.”
Mac rested her chin on her hand looking at her distraught friend, “is there any way I can help? I'm not exactly sure what I can do, but I know Duke is so dead.” Veronica chuckles nodding in agreement, if Duke's little stunt didn't ruin Heather, Heather would probably kill her while the whole school watched.
As if on cue Duke sat down at the table snickering, “so Veronica~” she drew out the girl's name, “how has your day been?” she had a faux sweetness to her voice while she smirked at Veronica, trying to replace her growing guilt with ‘spite’.
Veronica stood up entirely pissed off, “listen here you fucking skank-” Heather had put a hand on Veronica's shoulder stopping the girl in her tracks as she looked back at the girl in shock.
Heather continues, “she's trying to get to you Sawyer.” Heather looked at her perfectly manicured red nails before looking over to Duke scoffing. “Go,”
It was a simple command. “Excuse me?” Duke stood up and asked, but she already knew where this was going.
“You heard me, go.” Heather was now talking loud enough the whole cafeteria could hear her. Not that it was needed the whole room had fallen into a hushed silence. “You're no longer a Heather, don't let me see your ugly face again.”
“Brave coming from the dyke,” Duke forced a sneer in return. At one point she had hoped this would have given her some power over Heather, made her weaker. The opposite was true however, this had only proved to make her push more firmly. And Duke felt terrible for what she had done, what she had said, for not being a better friend. Mac was right...
Heather laughed, “Funny coming from the snake. The same snake that had their brains fucked out by a certain jock.” Heather raised a brow, “You really think you're that high and mighty huh?”
Duke went wide-eyed, snickering could be heard throughout the whole room. She could hear words like ‘slut” and ‘whore’ being thrown about the room like candy. “y-you...” she couldn't even finish what she said before storming off in tears.
“Don't fuck with Heather Chandler,” the girl in red barked. Once Duke was gone, and Heather had sat down, conversation in the room continued as if nothing had ever happened.
Heather felt no shame as she pecked Veronica on the cheek, she wasn't going to hide the fact that the two were dating anymore. And she would end anyone who dared pick on her or her friends, even if it meant losing one.
For the remainder of the day, Veronica had noticed a lack of eyes on her. Everyone knew Chandler's words were final. After all, she was the queen of the damn school.
….
Two freshman girls meekly approach Heather Chandler and Veronica the next day. The braver of the two spoke up, “uh- e-excuse me miss Chander. Are you really dating-”
Heather rolls her eyes, making the girls flinch, Heather notices that they are holding hands and relaxes, “yes I am,” she points at the two, “what about you?”
The girls both let out a sigh of relief as the braver girl yet again speaks up, “y-yup, but we were too afraid to say anything before what happened yesterday.” Veronica gave the two girls a sweet smile before looking at Heather.
Heather gives a nod of approval to the girls before asking, “I didn't catch any names?”
The girls were smiling as they gave their names, not expecting the blonde to be as friendly as she was. The girls chatted for a bit before the bell rang.
…..
Ram leans back on Kurt's locker watching Heather and Veronica talk to some freshman. He looks around for Kurt and waves him over once he sees him. “You see them, Kurt?”
Kurt looks over, “yea, can you move I need to get to my locker.”
Ram moves, pointing at them now, “How are they so happy?”
“What do you mean?”
“Like aren't they afraid other people are gonna make fun of them?”
Kurt scoffs grabbing his books, “That's Heather, she's not afraid of anything.”
Ram sighs, “it must be nice…”
“What?” Kurt turns to Ram who is still looking over to Heather and Veronica. Ram would never mean that, would he? Kurt shakes his head, Ram wouldn't mean that.
“N-nothing, just you know not worrying about your reputation.”
“Like how we have to be good at sports otherwise we’re nobodies?” Kurt raises a brow.
“Kinda’ but uh- I don't know, not just sports but life and shit.” Kurt nods to Ram, the bell rings and they head to class before either of the two can continue the conversation.
Notes:
Madance was actually pretty on the nail when they guessed, "I wouldn't be surprised if one of the girls did something recklessly"

Chapter Text
Duke is beyond pissed, not at Heather but at herself. For the past week and a half she has been one of the lowest of low in westerburg. She even tried to join Courtney and the country club-kids who she had formerly mocked as a Heather. She was no longer the high and mighty second in command, she was an ex-somebody, far worse than a nobody. (But she knew it was all her fault.)
Duke looked around the cafeteria anywhere she looked, people would turn a blind eye, and move so there was no room for her to sit. She had two options, try and sit with Martha 'dumptruck’ or… she turned to look at an empty table, almost empty. Jason Dean smiled at the girl waving a hand as if to motion her towards him.
Definitely better than dumptruck, Duke thought, feeling bad for her former childhood friend, making her way towards the boy, “can I sit here?” she asked, surely someone like him wouldn't care about the social ladder Chandler had made.
The brown haired (former) Heather watched as he pretended to think, “hmmm,” he stood there in mock consideration, “no.”
“W-what? You can no-”
“I just did.”
Duke was in utter shock, hadn't he just waved her over to him? “D-do you want to talk?” Jason nods.
“You pick up quickly, sit down.”
“But you-”
She was cut off again, “Sit” this time she listened with little said objection. “I need your help with something.”
She scoffed, “with the stunt you just pulled? What was it Jesse James?”
“Jason dean actually, and it's a deal where you benefit, meet me behind the school after last period, you know where the stoners hang out?” Duke huffs but raises a brow, skeptical.
“And how will this help me?”
“Power.” he gives the girl a sly grin, “over the whole school. I just need a little information.”
“Yea right.” Duke scoff’s.
“I mean it.” JD looks over to Duke, not surprised by her reaction quite yet.
“And that’s not what i meant.” Duke glares daggers into JD. “We might not be on speaking terms, me and heather, but I'm not helping you.”
“And why is that?”
“I don't need power Dean, i know i fucked up with Heather, and power isn't going to fix that.”
JD laughs, “and you've suddenly gained a semblance of a soul?”
Duke stands up, “Fuck off Jesse James.”
“Jason Dean”
“Whatever,” Duke gets up and proceeds to start walking away.
“Oh, one more thing,” Jason watches as the girl groans looking back at him once more, “feel free to sit here any time Heather. You know if your feelin’ lonely or i dunno’ change your mind”
Duke scoffs, “whatever.”
…..
JD paces outside the school waiting for Heather Duke to exit, watching as people leave the building. He skipped his last class of the day for some silence to think, and to get a jump on the Heather he was attempting to make a deal with.
It was simple really, he was going to tell Duke that he was going to scare Heather Chandler into submission, all he would need is her schedule. What would he supposedly gain from this? The satisfaction that he terrorized the girl, the fact she was no longer in power. The reality was far different from what he would tell the girl. Really he planned to sneak into the girls home when she was asleep and kill her.
It would be an easy kill. He would be Veronica's shoulder to cry on and then she would be all his. His plan was fool-proof. And who cared if Heather Duke would rise in Heather's place? It would benefit him if he could manipulate her as well, and if not there was no loss to playing games with Duke.
The November wind blew his trench-coat, as he basked in the cold. He turned around to see Heather walking past, heels clicking against the pavement, Jason ran up to her. “What do you want?” the girl asked leaning against the brick wall.
After this he explained his plan to the girl, surprised ath the way Duke sneered at him. He thought she didn't really care about Heather. (Guess even JD could have trouble reading people) Whatever, he didn't really need her that much, He could just figure out things on his own. A minor setback, he thought to himself.
As JD walked back home he picked up a newspaper reading it and then tossed it to the ground.
Tomorrow's forecast was rain.
…..
Heather had called Mac after school to meet up at the mall. When they met up Mac gave Heather a confused look. “Where's ronnie’? '' Is she late?”
Heather shakes her head,”No she's- uh, not coming.” Heather clears her throat. “I actually wanted to talk to you about something. Something i’ve been thinking about”
“Hmm?” Mac hummed in question worried about her friend.
“I wanted to say sorry for the way I've treated you,” Heather mumbles under her breath, “I’m no good at apologies am I, I bet I sound like such a pillowcase.”
Mac chuckles, “No you don't heather, and i'm glad you’re saying sorry.” she gives Heather a smile, “I accept your apology, I know you care about us and it's just your stubbornness and how you show you care.”
Heather sighs again, “But i didn't need to be so harsh on you, Veronica, Hea-” Heather cuts herself off. “You’ve always been here for me, you’re my best friend. Stubbornness aside, I've gone too far in the past.”
Mac nods, “That's true but you're working to do better now, Heck, you’ve been nicer ever since you and Veronica started ‘hanging out’ more” Mac air quotes ‘Hanging out’ trying to lighten the mood.
Heather Gives a half smile ignoring what mac meant by ‘Hanging out’, Mac decides to speak up once more.
“You miss Heather dont you? You’re mad at her but she was your friend.” Heather gives Mac an accusatory glare but says nothing. “Sorry heather…” Mac bites her lip.
“Don’t be sorry Heather,” Heather lets out a sigh, “I’m beyond pissed at her but that doesn't mean i should be mad at you for sharing your opinion on the situation.”
Mac looks at Heather nodding slightly, “Well then let’s get your mind off of that,” she smiles, “what store should we go to first?”
Chapter 8
Notes:
JD kind of breaks into Chandler's home, do I need a trigger warning for that?
also kind of smut, I don't have much experience with smut so yea.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Duke bites her lip, the cord of her phone wrapped around her finger. In the same spot on her bed she had been in when she told Mac her plans. God, she hoped Ronnie would answer the damn phone.
Bring~ Bring~Bring~
On the third ring Veronica picked up the phone, “Veronica Sawyer speaking.”
“Veronica we need to-”, before Duke could finish Veronica had hung up the phone.”damn-it.”
Duke tried again, three rings, Duke only barely getting out the girl's name, rinse and repeat. Duke knew she deserved this, but right now she knew what she was about to say was important. And damn it if she didn’t try, she wasn't going to let Jason try and ruin Chandler. (She had already made that mistake.)
Duke tried again, three rings, finally Veronica picked up, “What the fuck do you want?” The raven-haired girl clearly steaming.
“J- Jason Dean,”, Duke felt like her throat had closed up, she was really talking to Veronica.”J-JD is planning to sneak into Heather's house, scare her shitless.”
“Sure thing,” Veronica scoffed, “even if he was, why would he tell you?”
“H-he, it doesn't matter, i just don't want any part of it.”
“Real suspicious,” Duke could practically feel Veronica roll her eyes, “Don’t call back.” and with that, the line went dead, faint static could be heard. She had somewhat warned Veronica.
…..
Veronica didn’t want to trust Duke but she had a bad feeling about tonight. So, she decided to head to Chandler's house, having a “sleepover” which was really a way for her to make sure her girlfriend was safe from the psycho with a gun.
…..
Jason makes his way, stealthy, through Heather's yard before pressing himself against the building flashlight in hand. He’s soaked and it's really hard to see much of anything tonight. He began to climb up the side of Heather's house, the heavy rain muffling any sounds, despite this he knew he couldn't drop his guard...if anyone saw him his plan would be ruined.
He's at heather’s window now looking in… she's not in here, she should be asleep by now. He heard Mac teasing Heather, Something about how even the “devil herself” needed beauty sleep, and how she didn't need to go to sleep so early. That's the last time he relies on an offhand comment. (It really wasn't like him to do that, but Duke had fallen through.) JD popped the lock on heather’s window before slipping in. He could hear something downstairs.
Heather must be there. Jason closes the window before making his way across her room. Everything was either white or Heather’s signature red. A glass table sitting in the middle of the room, JD’s soaked form leaving soggy footprints in the plush carpet.
JD crept down the stairs, he peeked into the room where he heard heather chandler, and his blood ran cold. Heather was with Veronica, Veronica was supposed to be his so just the idea let alone seeing them together made him fairly upset.
…..
Heather chandler pulls away from her girlfriend biting Veronica's lips as if to tease her. Being this close to each other heather could feel Veronica's breath on her neck, Veronica kissed her neck. Soft kisses as she made her way down the girl's neck. Heather wrapped her arms around Veronica's shoulders, lacing her hands in Veronica's hair.
She leaned towards veronica practically sitting on her lap giving veronica a longing look. Veronica's hand rested on Heather’s thighs, her fingers barely brushing up against her skirt, slowly tracing the skin just below it.
Heather lets out a soft grunt at the touch, encouraging Veronica to continue as the girl lifts her free hand to Heather's face cupping it gently, pulling her forward for another kiss. Heather’s grip on veronica's hair tightens causing veronica to gasp, the blonde taking this opportunity to deepen the kiss.
…..
JD isn't sure what to do, the girl of his dreams is on heather Chandler's sofa, and said blonde is now topping said dream girl.
…..
Heather gently pushes Veronica back, one of her hands untangling themselves from Veronica's hair, and makes their way towards Veronica's ass. Heather looks down at Veronica's lips which are now a similar shade as Heather's lipstick, she kisses Veronica softly whispering into her ear before biting it. Veronica's face turns scarlet red, she lets out a giggle but it's quickly muffled.
…..
Jason turns to leave not wanting to listen to or watch what was going on when he slips on the hardwood floor. This made the two girls in the living room jump. JD scrambles to his feet having trouble seeing as he is still soaked and the floor is now slippery.
Veronica is quick to her feet, grabbing a nearby lamp as a weapon much to heather’s protest. “Whos there,” Veronica is quick to demand, “Listen here! you better show yourself before i call the Fucking Police!”
Veronica makes her way towards the figure in the hall only to see JD running down the hall towards Heather's bedroom. Veronica rushes down the hall with her on-the-spot weapon ready to attack the boy when he jumps out a window.
Heather slowly approaches her room relieved to see Veronica is ok, “Veronica you can't just chase after creeps.” heather is quick to go from relieved to stern, “what if whoever that was had attacked you? They broke into my Fucking house.”
Veronica walks over to Heather, “I was just trying to protect you, who knows why that creep was here.”
Heather rests her chin on Veronica's shoulder, “I know you were Ronica’” Heather lets out a huff of air, “Just stop being so reckless, you don't think.”
Veronica chuckles before wrapping her arms around heather, “aw~ i thought you liked that about me?”
Heather pulls away just enough to meet Veronica's eyes, a smile on her face “Just because it's true sometimes doesn't make it true all of the time you pillowcase.” veronica nods returning the smile before rolling her eyes.
“I’ll be more careful, ok?”
“Good”
Veronica was glad that chandler was ok, glad she followed her gut feeling, glad Duke had given her the heads up, tomorrow she had a creep to deal with. One who would be sorry for attempting to scare her girlfriend.

Chapter Text
Veronica walks over to JD’s table the next day during lunch, “What the Fuck is your problem Jason Dean?” he looks like hes about to protest but veronica wont let him. “Don't even start, i don't wanna hear it.” Veronica backhands Jason’s face.
“Ow- Veron..” he's cut off by another slap. Whap.
“Don't you ‘veronica’ me you fucking creep!” veronica hisses, venom in her tone. The whole cafeteria has fallen silent, heads turned to where veronica stands. “Who do you think you are Dean? Breaking into someone's home, watching them, you obviously have zero- Fucking- respect.”
“It's not like that Veronica-”
“It’s not like that? You were fucking stalking me and my girlfriend while we were Making out! Bull-shit Dean, you're a Creep and a Stalker!”
JD is lost for words, by the time he finally manages to compose himself Veronica has already stormed off. JD shoves his food away resting his head on the lunch table in an attempt to shrink away, he knows everyone is watching him. If he could he would shoot everyone in the room but he doesn't have enough bullets for that.
Kurt and Ram approach JD sitting down on either side of him. JD could tell Kurt was a little off, but was more focused on Ram who patts JD on the back, “way to go champ, got to see the ladies in action.”
Kurt forces a laugh, “Maybe your not such a Fag after all.”
“Leave me alone Kurt.”
Kurt fake pouts, looking over to JD Simi-uncomfortably, “aw, c’mon man spill a little.”
JD rolls his eyes, “Get lost assholes.”
“Aw wittle JD wants to fight us, you hear that Kurt?”, Ram teases looking over to his friend.
Kurt purposely bumps into JD, “yea I heard that.” the two of them go back and forth making jabs at JD, slowly working away at his resolve to sit there and take it quietly.
“Leave me the Fuck alone,” JD blurts out loudly once again gaining the attention of other students.
“Or what?” Ram is quick to respond.
“Or I’ll fucking shoot you!”, this causes the two to burst out into a fit of laughter.
“Sure thing buddy”
Ram has no time to react, JD whips out his pistol and shoots Ram in the shoulder, “I said, Fuck off Ram.” JD quickly locks eyes with Kurt.
“W-what the fuck man…” Kurt is wide-eyed looking back and forth between JD and his gun. After a few short seconds, Kurt is quick to compose himself and help Ram, a worried look plastered on his face.
JD laughs, genuinely laughs at the terror-stricken looks he sees around the whole room. By the time he has finally stopped laughing he can hear sirens. This is what grounds him, his eyes dart across the room as he begins to run, he just barely manages to make it out of the building when police stop him.
…..
Jason's hands are cuffed as a police officer crudely shoves him by the head into the cop car, sirens blaring into his ears. He manages to catch Veronica's horror stricken face, in a crowd of students, clutching onto Heather Chandlers arm. Whatever plans he had for him and Veronica were now long gone and he could only hope whatever they had planned for him wasn't too bad.
From the corner of his eye JD could see Ram sitting in an ambulance, paramedics asking him questions. Jason chuckles, watching Kurt worry and desperation written all over his face. For some reason the paramedics won't let him near his friend. He never knew that Kurt was capable of caring about anyone but himself.
…..
Ram is in the hospital, the gun wound wasn’t fatal, JD wasn't necessarily aiming, but it had been bleeding pretty bad, he probably wouldn't be able to play football anymore with a fucked up shoulder. Not like he cared however, Ram was too worried about his best friend. He had never seen Kurt so upset, telling him he was ok only made Kurt more upset. This ending in a lecture on how, no, being shot was not ok.
Kurt was devastated, when J-Douche had shot Ram he had never felt more fear in his life. That was Ram. despite all the homophobic slurs he had thrown around in the past he had long come to the realization he had a crush on Ram. he wouldn’t even know what to do if JD had actually killed him.
“R-ram?” Kurt knew he was going to make a big mistake. Ram would never want to talk to him again.
“Yeah man?”
“You're a fucking idiot, don't ever get shot again.”
Ram nodded, “I’m not stupid, getting shot fucking hurts.”
“That's not what i meant.” Kurt looks down at his feet refusing to meet Ram's gaze. If he was gonna say this he needed to get it over with. Kurt knew very well he was just looking for an excuse to not say it, but he knew if he didn't say it now he never would. “I don't want you fucking dead man if I lost you-” his voice catches in his throat.
“I know-” Ram places his hand on Kurt's shoulder.
“You don't know shit Ram!” Fuck it. Kurt pulls away, bites his lip and without thinking blurts it out. “I fucking love you man.”
Ram laughs, looking directly at Kurt. Kurt pulls away.
GOD I’m such a fucking idiot.
“I Love you too.”
“What?” Kurt is speechless.
“You heard me, I love you too.” before Ram can do anything else Kurt lunges into his arms. The two sit there quietly in each other's embrace for what seems like the whole afternoon.
“You know now that, you know- uh- us” Kurt stutters looking at Ram who only nods. Kurt rubs the back of his neck. “We should apologize.”
“Yea…” Ram sighs, “we should.”
“Tomorrow?”
Ram nods, “Tomorrow.”

“Hey veronica?”
Veronica turns to kurt with an icy glare, “what?”
Kurt stands there trying to get his brain to string together the words he needs to say but he cant get them out. After a couple of minutes he gives up, “can i- uh sit here?”
“No.”
“Oh-uh- ok.” kurt begins to fidget with the sleeve of his jacket. “I’ll just go-” veronica lets out a sigh pinching her nose between her fingers before pointing at a seat next to her. Kurt can feel Heather’s glare but he hasn't worked up enough guts to look at her.
“Is ram ok?”
“Y-yea?”
“Good.” All Kurt could do was nod before he sat down. He should have planned out what he was going to say but something inside him told him that wouldn't be much help. “So what do you want?”
Veronica’s voice was icy but he could still see the look of pity she gave him for acting like this. “I- I’m sorry.” he only glanced at veronica for a second but he could tell she was just as shocked as he was that he had said it. “I’m sorry for uh calling you and uh-” he faltered swallowing hard before pointing at heather, “you know... names…”
Veronica noded. She didn't say anything and just waited for him to say anything else. The thing is even if he wanted to it felt like kurts throat was closing up. He had never said sorry to anyone before, was never this vulnerable around others, except for Ram.
He could feel heathers gaze soften, “why apologize? You're just going to keep doing it?” this made kurt cringe. Yea maybe he would have, maybe heater would have been right, but he wanted to do the right thing for once. The truth is he felt bad when he said those things but he knew if he didnt people would turn on him.
“Ram and i are…” he points at veronica and heather, “you know-” this causes Heather to laugh, once again making Kurt miserable.
Veronica shoots her girlfriend a glare before turning to Kurt. “I accept your apology but you better not say that shit again.” Kurt nods relieved that Veronica accepted his apology. “When is ram coming back to school?”
“Tomorrow, and he's pressing charges against J-Dick.”
Veronica chuckles, “I’m glad, Jason deserves to stay in a cell.”
“Could me and Ram sit here with you guys?” Kurt didn't know why he said it but it was too late to take back now.
Veronica looked over to her girlfriend and Mac the three girls whispering to each other. After what felt like forever, but was really only a suspenseful couple of minutes, veronica looked back over to him. “Only if you promise not to be a dick.”
Kurt nods giving Veronica a wonky smile, “Sounds good.”
…..
The following afternoon Ram is released for the hospital and is quickly brought to the police station to give his statement. After that is done he spends the rest of the day at Kurt's house where Kurt tells him about what happend at school.
“So were friends with the heathers?”
Kurt shrugs, “I’m not sure, but like they are letting us hang out with them.”
“Well that's a good start.” Ram leans against Kurt who is reading a comic book on his bed.
“Yea.”
…..
School had been hell ever since Duke had double-crossed Chandler, and it only got worse when the girl in red found out Duke had been hanging around JD (only once mind you, but rumors spread none-the-less.) It has been two weeks since the girl had been exiled, she was ready to throw her pride aside and literally beg Chandler for forgiveness. Not that she felt she deserved it, but she couldn't take much more of this afterall.
Duke took a deep breath as she walked up to where heather would be. If she knew one thing it was that this likely wasn't going to go well, but she could at least try. Neither Veronica or Mac would talk to her, and she was pretty sure Veronica and Heather wanted her dead.
She stepped forward, gulping, she was nervous. She opened the door to the bathroom they had met Veronica in. She could hear the girls all abruptly stop talking. This was a bad idea, she went to turn around, to leave, but Mac spoke up sweetly, “who is it?”
No response was given, she stood there frozen in place. Mac had warned her the morning she walked into school with those pictures, yelled at her on the phone the night before, called her out when initially being told.
She let out a shaky sigh, “I-It’s me?” Multiple groans could be heard, she could hea Veronica swear under her breath, saying something to heather under her breath, inaudible because of her now hushed tone.
“What Do You Want?” heather spoke up sharply. Venom coursing through her voice.
Duke stepped into the bathroom, now being face to face with her (former) friends. Before she knew what she was doing tears welled up in her eyes watching as the girls glared at her.
“I-I’m” she studdard over her own words, “I’m so sorry.”
“I-I shouldn't have said those things about you, or- or Showed that picture to the whole school-” She let out a shaky breath, “or even taken the photo to begin with. I-”
Before Duke could continue Heather had cut her off, “shut the fuck up heather, you dont get to come wine to me after you fuck up!”
“I- I know heather but-”
“Get the fuck out of my sight!” Heather shouts looking at Duke with rage filled eyes.
Mac gives Duke a sad yet still angry look, “you should go heather…”
Duke gave one last pleading look before she left, the girls wouldn't even meet eyes with her.
…..
Heather had been nothing but rude towards Veronica's friend Betty Finn. She was just realising how terrible that was, how she treated everyone around her. She had Decided to be nicer, but that wouldn't change the past. She was going to have to apologize to at least one of the people she had bullied.
She walked up to Betty Finn first for today's lunchtime poll, gaining a few stairs and an upset courtney on the other side of the cafeteria. “Are you ready for today's poll?”
“M-me?”
Heather smiled, “Yes you, Betty Finn correct? Veronicas friend.” The girl quickly nodded in awe. Heather didn't even look at her poll, besides what she was about to say wasn't even on it.
“If I were to apologize to you for all the mean things I've said, how would you respond?”
Betty’s mouth opened and then shut, the girl clearly shocked by what Heather was saying. “W-wow I’d be super happy. I-I-”
Heather smiled yet again, “Well I am sorry, and i know this isn't the best way to show it but-” heather gose tense being cut off by betty finn who is now hugging her.
Betty pulls back panicking, “OhMyGoshI’mSoSorry!”
Heather laughs, “You’re fine, I just wasn't expecting that.”
Betty Finn apologizes again for surprising Heather before giving her a meek smile, “I knew there must have been some good in you, afterall, Veronica loves talking about you.”
Heather raises a brow smiling, “Hmm, well you should definitely come over to our table and tell me everything.”
“Sit with you?” Betty was yet again floored and utterly speechless.
“Yup.” Heather says feeling a little better about herself.
After Heather did the real poll the group now consisting of herself, Mac, Veronica, Kurt, Ram, and Betty Finn, sat together chatting for the remainder of lunch period. While no one at the table spoke up about it, it was somewhat apparent that Heather seemed more relaxed with her new friends. More so then she had been for a very long time, you might even be able to say for a brief moment she had forgotten about what Duke had done and was happy.

Chapter Text
Courtney walks over to Heather's table, “you know, i'm not trying to be rude or anything like that, but what’s with the extra baggage?” The girl gestures towards Kurt, Ram, and Betty.
”you are so much better as just the Heathers’.” Courtney lets out a fake sigh and smiles, “wait- whoopsie, you’re probably compensating for kicking Heather out of your group, my bad.”
Heather glares at Courtney and laughs, “And you’re even more of a slut Than the Heather you're referring to. Woopsie looks like little miss threesome got on my bad side.”
Courtney gasped at Heather, “You are a bitch.”
Heather laughs at this, “Of course I am, but at least I’m not fake.”
Courtney sulks back to her table glaring daggers at Heather the whole time. Mac looks over to her friends, “Gosh Courtney needs to quit trying to start so much drama.”
Veronica chuckles, “and we don’t? I do think she went a bit far this time though.” Mac nods in agreement.
“Well we’ve been laying off the other students, so she must think we’re weaker now or something,” Heather says looking at her nails tentatively. Heather sighs avoiding the eyes of her friends, “I’m sick of this whole social hierarchy thing.” Both Kurt and Ran nod in agreement, Veronica giving Heather a knowing look.
“Well then maybe we don't have to do that then.” Heather looks over to Veronica as she continues. “We can make Westerburg a better place, and you know, represent the underdogs or some shit.”
Mac smiles, “Underdog? Like the show on Nickelodeon?”
Heather chuckles, “you still watch that stuff?”
Mac pouts, “yes I do, I like watching cartoons.”
“That's adorable” Veronica jokes, “but yea I guess, I don't watch a lot of cartoons, unless I'm babysitting.”
Mac stabs a few tater tots eating them, “you should they’re fun to watch.”
Kurt chimes in, “I like cartoons, they're not exactly like comic books but they're cool. I like He-Man” Mac points over to Kurt in a motion that means ‘see i'm not the only one’ as she eats more tots’ not wanting to talk with her mouth full.
Several people in the group laugh, and Betty speaks up, “I like cartoons too. Like sure they are for kids, but I agree they are cool.”
“Yess” Mac pumps her fist in the air ”Another person on team cartoon.”
“Then it's a Tie,” Heather jokes, “three of us and three of you.”
“I’ll take what i can get,” Mac Muses. The conversation had carried on, the group cracking jokes, sharing gossip, having fun, but Mac’s attention wasn’t with her friends. Her attention was across the cafeteria, watching as Heather Duke sat down next to Martha.
…..
“Can i sit here?” Duke asks, she wouldn’t blame the girl if she said no. She deserved it if anything.
“Sure,” the girl mumbles but it’s barely audible. She's avoiding eye-contact.
“How have you been?”
“What do you think?” the girl finally looks up at Duke.
“I’m sorry to hear that…'' Duke wasn't quite sure how to respond.
“Don’t be, you’re actually worse off than me. Probably the only reason you’re talking to me.”
Duke gives The girl a sad look, “Look Martha-” she sighs rubbing her temples, “You know what? You're not wrong, if I were still a Heather I wouldn’t be here right now, talking to you. I have been absolutely terrible to you, I was a terrible friend and left you. I’m a terrible friend to everyone I know.”
Martha nods and asks, “so what does that mean?”
“It means I want to be your friend, I wouldn’t have the opportunity to say sorry to you if I were a Heather.”
“So you think this is a good thing?” Martha asks a question yet again.
“God no, everyone hates me,” Duke gives Martha a nervous smile, “But I can still find some good in it.”
Martha gives a smile in return, “I do not accept your apology…” She waits purposely for a dramatic pause, “Yet.” “You have to earn that, but I don’t see the harm in being friends.”
Duke let out a sigh of relief. “Please, don't ever scare me like that again.”
Martha chuckles teasing Duke, “you deserved it.”
“Fair enough.”
…..
It’s after school and Mac skips out on carpooling with her friends, she's waiting for something, someone. She walks over to Duke who has exited the school With Martha Dunstock. “Heather…”
Duke looks up at Mac, “Heather.”
“Listen, we-” Duke finishes her sentence.
“-Need to talk?”
“Yup,” Mac smiles at Martha, “can you give us a moment.”
Martha is about to walk off when Duke speaks up. “You don’t have to leave Martha…”
Martha gives Duke a sweet smile, “It’s fine, really. Besides, I’ll be right over here.” Duke nods, waiting for Martha to walk away before she turns to Mac.
“So… You and Martha?”, Mac asks looking at the girl who had walked away.
“Are kind of friends.”
“That’s nice.”
“Yea…”, Duke clears her throat, “so? What do you want?”
Mac looks back to Duke. “Did you mean it?”
“Excuse me?”
“When you said sorry to heather,” Mac sighs, “or were you just trying to hurt her again?”
Duke looks down, her attention now on her feet, her words are so quite Mac couldn’t properly make them out. “I meant it.”
“What? Im sorry i didn’t get that.”
“I meant It, I'm sorry.” Her voice was barely above a whisper.
Mac nods, starting to say something only to stop herself and rethink her word choice. “Why did you do it to begin with? Don't get me wrong I’m still pissed at you too, I just don’t understand why.”
“You remember when we were on the phone and you asked if i cared about Heather?”
“Yea, but how dose-”
“I lied, I do care about her.” Duke laughs nervously, “Like i really care about her, I was just so angry, and i know that's no excuse, and I went to far and-”
“Do you miss her?”
“Yes! I miss her so much, I wish I could say sorry until my mouth hurts, cry until i’m all out of tears, and just show her how sorry I feel, Heather I lo-” she winces, “I love her.”
“So when you called her a ‘dyke’?”
“I was mad, I don't understand how Veronica did it. I’ve been trying to win Heather over for years. Despite that all she does is make fun of me.” Duke looks over to Martha, “I abandoned my own friend just for the chance to impress her…”
Mac looks down, “she was trying to stop you…”
“From what?”
“Puking after lunch everyday, not eating, your bad habits, she thought if she made fun of them you’d stop and get better.”
“Did she realise it only made me feel worse?”
“I-I don't know… I don’t think so, but i'm not sure.”
“Could you tell Heather and Veronica I'm sorry?” Duke yet again looks over to Martha who is sitting by herself. “I have to go…”
“Sure,” Mac says before walking away. She had carpooled with Heather and Veronica Earlier that day so now she began to walk home.
As she walked home a green jeep stopped in front of her, Duke and Martha in the car, “Do you need a ride?”
Mac looks around before answering, “That would be nice…” Duke dropped Mac off with little being said.
…..
The phone rings, mac waiting for the click of a phone on the other end, “Sawyer speaking.”
“Ronnie’ we need to talk.” Mac nervously tangles her fingers in the cord of her phone.
“Oh- hey heather, what's wrong?”
“It’s about Heather.”
“is something wrong?” Veronica is momentarily worried.
“Duke not your girlfriend, and uh- we kind of talked…”
“Talked?” veronica questions, not fond of the idea.
“Yea,” Mac bites her lower lip.
“about?”
“She told me to tell you and Heather she was sorry.” Mac nervously chuckles, “She’s friends with Martha now, and she’s hurting really bad, has been for a while. I can see it in her eyes. She knows she’s wrong, and she feels awful.”
“And why do I care?”
“Because you and Heather actually got along, were friends. We all were…”
“And? She fucked up.” Veronica lets out an annoyed sigh.
“Yea she did, maybe she doesn't deserve a second chance, maybe I’m just too soft…”
“Heather… that's not what i meant,” Veronica sighs, “I’ll talk to Heather about what Heather said. Alright?”
“Thank you!”
Veronica lets out a shaky breath, “no problem…”

Chapter Text
It’s been a few days since Veronica and Mac had talked on the phone about a certain somebody, but she wasn’t quite sure how to make good on her promise. For now she sat on the railing near the entrance of the school, a cigarette perched between her fingers.
She takes a drag, feels the smoke fill her lungs, and then lets it all out. “Tsk tsk, Smoking’s bad you know.” Veronica chuckles turning to her girlfriend.
“Well maybe I am bad?” she wiggles her brows making Heather laugh.
“Veronica Sawyer, a bad girl?” Heather muses, tapping her chin pretending to consider the idea. “Ah yes I see it now, Veronica Sawyer best in her class, Perfect student, absolutely stunning, a bad girl.” Both girls proceed to laugh at this.
“Ok ok,” Veronica puts her hand up in surrender, “Bad habits” Heather raises a brow at the still lit cigarette, Veronica taking note of this and stomping it out on the ground. “Better?”
“Very.”
Veronica’s mood sombers as she looks at the cigarette on the ground, “boy that thing would have been helpful for the conversation we’re about to have.”
Heather furrows her brows, “Is something wrong?”
Veronica shrugges, “everythings fine, I guess. But we do need to talk about Heather.” Veronica cringes as Heather groans.
“What about her?”
“Apparently Heather and Heather had a talk,” Veronica sighs, “and Heather wanted me to talk to you about it, and I kind of promised, and It’s hard to say no to her.”
Heather nods annoyed but understanding (Mac was a handful), “and what did Heather tell you about her conversation with Heather?”
“She's friends with Martha, Feels really bad about what she did, knows she did wrong. And something about ‘hurting’?” Veronica shrugs at the last one not quite sure what ‘hurting’ meant.
“DumpTruck?”, Heather questions.
“That's what you got out of that? And her name is Dunstock.”
Heather thinks this over, “Do you think she really means it?”
“What? Saying sorry, because I don’t know.”
“No, I mean being friends with Martha.” Heather sighs, “They used to be friends you know. Like when you told me you and Betty used to do everything together, that was them.”
“Oh, well I saw them sitting together During lunch.” Heather Nods at this.
“I see…” Heather furrows her brows together.
“Well we should probably get to class, school is probably gonna start soon.”
“Yea, can we talk about this later?” Heather asks, putting out a hand to Veronica as the two walk inside the school.
“Sure thing babe, oh and one more thing, don’t forget about our date tonight.”
Heather gives a light chuckle, “like I’d ever forget.”
…..
Heather sighs, “Veronica?”
“Yes?”
“Do you remember when I told you I didn't enjoy being ‘a Heather’?” Veronica looks up at Heather, putting down her strawberry shake.
“Yea, is there something you want to talk about?”
Heather nods, “I don’t want to be ‘A Heather’, I just want to be Heather.” She emphasises ‘A Heather’.
Veronica nods, “and what made you bring this up?”
“It’s-” Heather sighs waving her hands, “everything that has happened over the past few months. Us, J-Dick, Kurt and Ram, Betty, and-” Heather mumbles the last name on her list, “-and Heather…”
Veronica nods letting Heather continue, “If it weren't for this group- Well, Heather would have never done the things she had done.”
“Maybe, but you never know. There’s still time, Highschool isn’t over yet, maybe we could fix this?” Veronica gives Heather a weak smile.
“Like sticking up for others,” Heather rests her head on the table looking around the diner the two were in, “and making up for the shit we’ve done.”
“Like underdogs?” Heather half mumbles half chuckles remembering the conversation they had at the lunch table several days ago, now looking up at Veronica, her head still on the table.
“Yea, like underdogs defending those who need it.”
Heather pauses before sitting up, “do you think we should talk to Heather? Fix that?”
“I think both Heather and Heather would like that.” Veronica gives a weak smile, “and I think she’s been trying to make up to us this whole time.”
“Really?”
“Yea,” Veronica sighs, “I didn’t want to bring it up but she kind of warned me about JD. that he might try and go after you.”
Heather's mouth was agape, “r-really…”
“Yea…”
“Well, if she really meant it,” Heather sighs, “I’m still pissed at her don’t get me wrong, but…”
“We should talk to her?”
“Y-Yea.”

Chapter Text
OK!
soo... I've been neglecting this fic for how long now???
8 months or longer....
I don't have an excuse, I have half of the next chapter in drafts (for 7 months now) and I haven't had the motivation in my little ADHD brain to finish it.
and I kinda wanna re-write and add to the story I have thus far.
I also have the final chapter in the drafts, all I'm missing is a chapter between my half-finished chapter and the final one.
would you guys like me to post what I have?
because I wanna work on this soooooo bad but I just feel stuck...
Sorry, this took so long to ask, I was really afraid of upsetting the people who read my fic.
