It's Dangerous

Summary:

Who let these kids go to S like this? The world is a dangerous, dangerous place.

Good thing Reki had someone looking out for him (until he didn't).

Notes:

Hey Gamers! Here's the first chapter of this whole thing. I've been thinking about this for a while and the first chapter is actually a snippet that got cut from the first fic is this series.

This fic is definitely lighter than the tags make it seem but read at your own risk. There are themes of underage drinking, drug use, and instances of both past and current statutory rape, however, the way Reki experiences it he doesn't view what happens to him as rape.

Chapter 1: Kyan Reki was not a Camera Kid

Chapter Text

Reki and Miya don't usually skate just the two of them. It wasn’t that they had any issue with the other or some underlying reason as to why they didn't, there was just always someone else with them.

Today wasn’t different than any other except for the fact that the two of them were skateboarding. Together. Alone. Which was looking to be a recipe for disaster.

“I refuse to believe you had any game. How the hell were you doing anything at fourteen?” Miya jokes, but there's something off in his tone.

“Oh well, I was like. A wild kind of teen in a skatepark. The game comes to you. You really don’t have to hunt.” Reki giggles.

“What? I'm a ‘wild kind of teen’, and I’m in skateparks all the time!” Miya replies with vigorous use of air quotes.

Reki laughs and looked at Miya like he was dumb.

“We were definitely different kinds of wild teen kiddo. I was more like hopeful, and eager, and manipulatable. And you’re like spiky, and uninterested, and informed. And you’re a camera kid too, too hard to get to.”

Reki continues to laugh. Miya wishes he'd stop.

“Camera kid? What the hell is a camera kid?” Miya asks.

“Oh, you know. Like a kid who always has somebody looking at them. Someone people would notice, ya know? Reki says matter of factly.

“Ok…” Miya replies slowly, blinking hard before speeding up, “Yeah I need an adult right now.”

“Hah? Wai- Miya stop! Where are you going?!”

Miya rolls away faster with a scoff.

Notes:

Hey I hope y'all enjoyed this. This is something that I have had rocking around my head for a while and it's something which was really apparent to me since I watched the first episode of Sk8.

There are definitely dangers that come with being a younger person surrounded by adults especially with the fact that the adults at S are less accountable because they are hiding behind their "skate identities".

This chapter is definitely a lot shorter than the next two are but this is more like a prologue than anything else :)

Next chapter is up but will be getting edited soon :p Chapter 3 should be up after that.
