    As he said, Aizawa was on the couch in the living room, lounging in some sort of graphic shirt and sweatpants. Izuku makes his way over, sitting on the couch next to him. He tries not to make it obvious, the way he’s watching the man and his every twitch. The man seems to just be reading a book.

    Carefully, he slides over, just a tad closer to the man. He doesn’t look over.

    He slides over another inch.

    Insomnia was a bitch.

    This was far from the first time that Izuku had gotten only an hour of sleep. It definitely wouldn't be the last time either. Nightmares plagued him when he closed his eyes. Tsuyu disintegrating, Aizawa with his head caved in, Iida dead at Stain's feet, Kouta's body in Muscular's hand, Eri screaming his name as Overhaul dragged her away… Yeah. He had plenty of nightmare fuel to last him the rest of his life, and he wasn't even in his second years of high school yet.

    Yeah. Today was not going to be a good day.

    Izuku is working on his second day of no sleep and gets an unpleasant wake up call. Aizawa reminds him that it's okay to ask for help.

    Dark Eye looked back over her shoulder. "Sorry boys. Happy hunting!" With a kiss and a wave, she tapped something on her wrist. And then everything went very, very wrong.

    Izuku watched as the first explosion went off, right where he'd kicked Dark Eye against the wall. Another exploded to his left, taking out a support beam, and the danger began to settle in. He was only thirty feet from the door. With One For All, he could make it.

    But Aizawa couldn't. He had barely begun to get to his feet. He'd never make it out in time.

    So. Save himself, or try to save Aizawa?

    It wasn't even a choice, really.

    Shouta has never been good with kids. In fact, he's been known to make children cry just by smiling at them. According to Hizashi, his smile was enough to put the fear of God into any living person on Earth, including the man himself. And even when he didn't smile, something about Shouta's bloodshot eyes and scraggly hair tended to scare kids off before he could even attempt to get close.

    So he stopped trying. He lets Hizashi or Tensei or hell, even Nemuri, deal with the kids they rescue on missions together, and when it's just him, he quickly hands them over to the first officer on the scene. It was an efficient strategy, and one that had been working for the past eight years.

    But this kid? This kid was different.

    Aizawa finds a boy hurt and shivering in the cold, and decides to take care of him himself.
