It seems weird. To most it is weird. A wolf frolicking with rabbits and the rabbits having no fear whatsoever in their demeanor. But to Kakashi this was his everyday.
Looking up the moon was setting. A huff came from the wolf, “I have to go now, the next full moon?”
The two rabbits hopped in excitement and Kakashi gave a smile that to most would look quite horrifying. “Goodbye you two, stay safe.”
Kakashi closed his eyes, the light of the moon drawing to him and he was gone.
“Mother! Father!” Kakashi landing in observatory and ran out in the grand courtyard that lead into the palace of the ancient Moon Kingdom.
“I’m back!”
A shadow of a bunny creeped on the walls making Kakashi stop. The shadow stretched off the wall and formed into a beautiful woman.
“Mom!” Kakashi jumped up and hugged the woman.
“Good evening my little pup. How was your trip.”
Kakashi snuggled his face into his mother’s kimono, “it was good.”
His mother stroked his head, “oh?” She grabbed his hand and lead him to the tea room.
“I think Obito and Rin may be remembering.” Kakashi sighed as he sat down, “they seem happier and more energetic. Do you think it’s time.”
She rubbed his chin, “curious, what do you think Sakumo?”
Kakashi’s father entered the room, just hearing the tail end of the conversation, he sat down as he pondered the delicate subject, “well doe it seems to me that they truly are starting to remember, and though they are rabbits now it doesn’t mean they foolish,” he gave his wife a sly smile which she laughed at. Kakashi groaned at his parents flirting.
“Anyways, I think two more cycles will be safe, how about you Kaguya?”
“That sounds perfect. I’m so happy that your friends are back Kakashi. I know being here is lonely,” she rubbed the back of his hand.
“Mom.”
“Shh, I know pup. I have you and you’re father now, but you need friends too, ones you won’t be bound to only visit once a month.”
Kakashi looked away, peering through the Shoji at the earth.
“I know you miss it. To be here is to be imprisoned, but my little wolf, you are tied to the earth.”
“Mother, what are you saying.”
Kaguya just continued to stroke his hand, but Kakashi couldn’t miss the sad look in her eyes.
“Father.”
Sakumo face was nearly unreadable, but kakashi could see sadness in his eyes.
“What is going on?”
“The bond you hold with your friends are strong, almost like the one your father and I hold. And with this bond you can escape this prison for good, and live on earth once again.”
Be one earth, he loved the way the grass felt, the way the seasons change, and the breeze in his hair. Obito. Rin.
“But?”
“But.” Sakumo spoke up, “like how I can no longer walk the earth, you will never step foot on the moon again.”
Kakashi’s heart stopped.
“I-I can’t leave you! No! Not again!”
“Calm yourself my pup.”
“No! I-I don’t care about the earth if it means loosing my parents!”
“Don’t say such thing Kakashi!”
“Dad!” Tears fell down his face, “mom.”
“Kakashi.” Kaguya moved to his side and held him, “whatever you choose, we will always love you. And if you do go down there, just know we will always looking down at you and the moon’s rays are there to guide you.”
Kakashi’s fangs bit down on his lips as he tried to hold back his cries.
Sakumo joined the hug, “Kakashi, my son. We’re the last our clan. When I met your mother no other wolf’s of our kind existed.”
Kakashi closed his eyes and listened to their tale as he has many times before.
“On a full moon, right in the meadow that I sang my sad song of lose and loneliness, did I see a beautiful white rabbit. The rabbit was elegant and approached me as none other did before. And in that light the rabbit changed.”
“From the moon I would hear a cry, but this night I could feel how lonely it was. I used my entire being to float down to the earth. I saw a handsome wolf, with eyes like no other.”
“I knew she was the one.”
“I knew he was the one.”
The mates held each other’s hands and stared at each other with such adoring love, “I was no longer alone.”
“Kaguya. She took me to the moon. And many cycles later she gave me you, my dear son.”
Kakashi’s eyes was closed tight, he couldn’t stop crying no matter how hard he tried.
“No matter what you choose, we’ll love you. But listen to you heart.”
