Chapter Text
"Hey, Jinsoul, can I see you for a moment?"
I looked up to see Yerim playing with her recently lightened brown hair. She looked worried so I nodded and stood up to follow her to outside. As soon as we got out, she closed the dressing room door and placed her hand on my shoulder.
"Are you okay? You seem a little distracted. You also missed your adlibs during our rehearsal. You never miss your adlibs."
I blinked. I didn't realize anyone would notice. Heck, I didn't even notice. I took a deep breath before speaking in a low voice. "I think she's here."
Yerim's eyes widened. "You mean your soulmate? She reincarnated? You didn't even tell us!"
I looked down at the ground. "Yeah, well I didn't want to say anything until I was certain that they would accept me. After all I've caused them to die 4 times already... And I'm not human either. You know how people don't seem to like us."
Yerim looks down before meeting my eye again. "Me of all people right? How my last soulmate's reincarnation tried to stab me before I could even explain that just because I'm a vampire doesn't mean I drink blood. That shit's nasty." She rolled her eyes before something behind me caught her attention. I turned around to see what she was looking at and I felt something in me prickle. I was all too familiar with that sensation.
The girl I recognized from the second performance walked out of her dressing room. To a human she probably looked calm, but I could feel her anxiousness rolling off of her in waves. She smiled and it took everything in me to not beam back at her.
"You guys' performance was really good." If the prickling feeling didn't confirm it, it was the clear tone of her voice that did. I couldn't stop the smile this time.
As I final confirmation to set it in stone I decided to test my voice on her. I muttered a small thank you and immediately got my answer. She looked me in the eye and nodded before quickly turning away and almost jogging down the hallway. I couldn't stop the smile from expanding across my entire face.
"Oh my god..." I looked back to see Yerim who was dumbfounded. I tried to stop smiling but I couldn't, so I just buried my face in my hands instead. "She heard your voice. It's her isn't it?" My small giggle was enough of a confirmation for Yerim as she grabbed my shoulder. "Oh my god!" She groaned out.
What came next was Yerim dragging me inside the dressing room as I tried to gather myself but failing and covering my entire face instead. Added on to the fact that I was distracted earlier, that lead to the chaos of everyone thinking I was crying.
When we got in, the first person to say something was Haseul who was sitting out on our first performances due to a broken foot. Currently she was fixing up Yeojin's makeup. "Woah, Jinsoul are you okay?" After that Sooyoung, Hyejoo, and -much to Haseul's disdain- Yeojin turned to look at me. I peered out from behind my hands, only to cover my face again and lean against Yerim who I could practically see rolling her eyes in a playful manner.
"She's fine." She said nudging me to get me to stand up straight.
Sooyoung stood up and walked over to us. "Are you sure? She doesn't look fine..."
Yerim pushed me off of her. "Get your hands off of your face, you don't have to be bashful in front of us. Just go ahead and brag okay?"
I giggled and moved my hands to my cheeks before spinning and flopping into a chair. Yeojin started laughing at my state before muttering "idiots" and turning back to Haseul who gave her an arched eyebrow.
I sighed and looked up at the ceiling. "She's shy this life. She was so nervous it was adorable! Reminds me of how she was in her first life..." I paused in reminiscence. "Lyubov' zla, polyubish' i kozla."
It was a peaceful day when I first met her. Earlier I had been trying to study different languages when I first heard someone singing in Russian. After that I had traveled from the Mediterranean Sea through to the Black Sea and lived in Crimea for a while learning the language. I had been preparing to try and travel inwards and was saying goodbye to the sea when I heard the familiar voice of my soulmate.
I smiled to myself and hummed along to the now familiar tune. When the tune got louder I slowly stopped humming along until I realized that she was nearby. I looked down the beach and saw a young woman skipping down to the water. She was singing that tune that I had grown accustomed to and was hearing clear as day at that moment. I felt a prickling sensation in my heart and just knew that I had found my soulmate.
She stopped singing after one line causing me to look in her direction as she sighed and flung her shoes off. I smiled at the sight and watched as she threw caution to the wind and picked up her skirt as she splashed into the water. I wondered if I could get her attention by singing the next part of the song. I sang quietly just loud enough for her to hear in in her mind. She spun around to face inland and belted at the top of her lungs the next line causing me to giggle. I sang the next line a little louder and she sang a little quieter. This carried on until I sang one line loud enough that she heard it. I was facing the sea and when I didn't hear a response I turned to her and saw her looking in my direction. When I caught her she quickly whipped around.
I made my way over to her. When she turned her head to look at me again and saw that I was closer to her now, she jumped and turned back away. She wasn't quick enough to hide her blushing cheeks and red ears however. I could also feel the nervous energy radiating off of her.
"Hello." I greeted, causing her to slowly turn towards me.
"Good day." She responded with her cheeks still bright red. She walked back to land from where she stood knee deep. "Nice weather don't you think?" She asked trying to regain her composure and turning away to try and hide her cheeks.
"Quite nice indeed. Say, what is that song exactly? I've lived in Russia for a few years now but I've never heard anyone but the girl in my mind sing it." I smirked at said girl causing her to blush even more.
She stuttered while trying to form a response, all while avoiding eye contact. "Well, my father wrote it to woo my mother into marrying him and it has sort of been a family thing ever since."
I smiled at the sweet story behind the song and stepped in front of her, forcing her to make eye contact. "I'm Jung Jinsoul. However while living in Russia, and Europe in general, I have gone by the name Sonya Jung."
"Ah, Miss Sonya. It is a pleasure to make your acquittance."
"Just Sonya is fine." I give her a small smile and she shyly gave me one back.
"I am Kira Ivanov from Kiev."
