Chapter Text
EXT. EGYPT
The wind blows sand into the air, as two figures dig. A few feet from them stands a few tables, with archaeological equipment on them. These tables are protected from the elements by tents.
CARTER HALL, one of the figures, holds up a mask. The mask’s face is bluish-grey, with gold earrings and in the center of its forehead sits a golden eye.
He puts his hand on his forehead to shade his eyes from the sun, as he looks over to his partner; SHIERA HALL.
Carter:
Do you think this is what we’re looking for?
Shiera rushes over, taking the mask in her hands.
She inspects it.
Shiera:
It matches Kulak’s file. One piece of three.
They walk over to a tent and place the mask on a table.
Shiera:
So, guess that’s it for Egypt, next stop...where to next? Mexico?
Carter:
Tibet, we’ll be meeting up with Judomaster.
Shiera:
I hate to leave Egypt so soon.
Carter:
Then maybe we won’t.
He takes Shiera’s hand. Shiera smiles.
Shiera:
Keep talking.
Carter:
Rip wouldn’t be offended if we spent another week in Egypt. We can see the sights, get a fancy hotel room. I don’t think Kulak’s going anywhere.
Suddenly the mask on the table begins glowing.
Mask:
That is what I, as well, believed. But now, quiver, Justice Society, for I am not felled.
It floats into the air, Carter and Shiera step back, Shiera grabs a mace from the table.
The mask coalesces into human form. The form of KULAK. He looks down at his clawed hand, which he balls into a fist.
Kulak:
You have awoken me. I had thought I would be caught hurtling through a thousand dimensions for all time, I owe you a debt of gratitude.
His third eye glows, and Carter’s and Shiera’s eyes widen, before they drop to the sands.
Kulak:
In recompense, I bless you with new purpose. My purpose. Arise.
He gestures, and Carter and Shiera rise to their feet, however in the center of each of their foreheads sits a glowing yellow eye. Kulak smiles.
INT. JSA BROWNSTONE. A TRAINING ROOM.
HIPPOLYTA blocks DINAH DRAKE’S punches on her wrists. After a few more, Dinah steps back and shakes out her fist.
Dinah:
ow. You’re a lot sturdier than any punching bag, that’s for sure.
Hippolyta gently takes Dinah’s hands in hers.
Hippolyta:
Be sure not to hurt yourself, Dinah.
Dinah:
Don’t worry about me, I’m pretty sturdy myself.
Hippolyta:
I know you are.
Dinah presses into Hippolyta, leaning her face close.
Hippolyta:
You know, your punches, they almost hurt me.
Dinah:
Almost?
Hippolyta:
Like you said, I’m very sturdy.
Their faces inch closer together.
Dinah:
Then I’ll take that as a compliment.
She gently removes Hippolyta’s hand from her waist, and presses it up against the wall.
She slowly pulls Hippolyta’s face toward hers, about to kiss her…
...then quickly, she pulls Hippolyta’s hand over her shoulder, pulling Hippolyta over her, and flipping her onto the mat on the floor.
She drops a knee onto Hippolyta’s chest, and presses one of Hippolyta’s hands into the ground, the other is pinned behind Hippolyta’s back.
Hippolyta laughs.
Hippolyta:
Such betrayal, Dinah?
Dinah winks flirtatiously.
Dinah:
Sorry, cutie. I’ll make it up to you later.
Hippolyta:
Why not right now?
Dinah:
Well, right now you’re a little pinned to the mat.
Hippolyta:
Appearances can be very deceiving, my love.
Hippolyta pushes Dinah upwards, freeing her trapped arm, which grabs Dinah’s wrist. She effortlessly pulls Dinah’s arm behind her back and in one fluid movement, she stands up and pins Dinah against the wall.
Her head leans close to Dinah’s ear.
Hippolyta:
I must confess, I’m not pleased that you turned my affections for you against me, but, I can forgive you-
She kisses Dinah’s neck, Dinah giggles.
Hippolyta:
-should you make it up to me.
She kisses Dinah’s neck, slowly pressing her more into the wall. Dinah closes her eyes, easing into it.
Hippolyta gently kisses Dinah on the lips, turning her in her arms.
They kiss. Eventually, Hippolyta gently pulls her head away. Dinah smiles.
Dinah:
You feeling a little less miffed now, Polly?
Hippolyta:
Of course. You always cheer me up.
Hippolyta goes in for another kiss, Dinah puts her finger in front of Hippolyta’s lips.
Dinah:
Wait, before we go too far, beautiful, don’t we have a JSA meeting? Not that I don’t love this.
Hippolyta looks away for a second.
Hippolyta:
If Alan wants me there, he can ask me himself. Or I suppose he might prefer to talk to you about it, then have you ask me.
Dinah gently kisses Hippolyta.
Dinah:
Angel, you’re mad at him, I get it. I’m not exactly his biggest fan right now either. But, that doesn’t mean we don’t have responsibilities.
Hippolyta:
Of course you are right, I don’t enjoy it though.
Dinah:
I wouldn’t like it either. But I know that if I didn’t you’d tell me the same. And you’d be right.
Hippolyta sighs.
Hippolyta:
I know.
Dinah gently strokes Hippolyta’s cheek.
Dinah:
Hey, you’ve got all night to spend with me. The meeting’s only an hour, then we can take some personal time. We can even do a little more sparring, get back in the mood.
She takes Hippolyta’s hands in hers.
Dinah:
Whatever you want to do, angel. And if you really don’t want to go to the meeting-
She shrugs.
Hippolyta:
You are too sweet, my Dinah —-But, let us go. We don’t want to be late.
Dinah smiles. They quickly kiss, before Hippolyta takes Dinah’s hand as they leave the training room.
As they exit, Dinah leans over to Hippolyta.
Dinah:
You got out of that hold way too easily. Remind me never to get into an actual fight with you.
INT. JSA MEETING ROOM.
Dinah and Hippolyta enter and quietly slide into two empty seats. The rest are filled by the remaining JSA members.
THE FLASH and WILDCAT lean over to them.
The Flash:
Glad the lovebirds finally made it.
Wildcat:
You two even got here after me.
Dinah:
Yeah, we got a little held up with each other, what about it?
Dinah squeezes Hippolyta’s hand.
GREEN LANTERN waves his hand dismissively.
Green Lantern:
It’s more than alright, I’m just glad you’re both here.
Hippolyta [sarcastically]:
I’m sure.
Dinah gently elbows her, giving her a look.
Green Lantern looks away, feeling bad, before regaining his composure.
Green Lantern:
Frankly, we don’t have that much on our plate. Huntress needs to be tracked down, but the rest of the Injustice Society are securely locked away. Though-
DOCTOR FATE stands up.
Green Lantern:
-in a few hours Doctor Fate has a duel with his archenemy, Wotan.
Doctor Fate:
This is a matter I must address alone, however you all must be ready should I fall to his power.
Dinah:
Don’t worry, Kent, you’ll kick his can.
Doctor Fate:
I only hope you’re right.
Suddenly the radio begins beeping.
Green Lantern turns to it.
Green Lantern [surprised]:
It’s a JSA member sos.
He presses it. A voice, one marred by static, rings out.
Carter Hall:
Justice Society this is Hawkman, the Spectre’s foe, Kulak, has kidnapped me and Hawkgirl, I managed to slip away-
The radio buzzes out, a few seconds of static, then it buzzes back in.
Carter Hall:
-I’m sending you his coordinates now.
There are sounds of fighting and the line goes silent.
A piece of paper prints from a machine on the wall, Green Lantern takes it.
Green Lantern:
It looks like we just got a bit more on our plate.
Doctor Mid-Nite:
Aren’t the Hawks in Egypt on a dig?
Green Lantern:
They were, now they’re in-
He looks at the paper.
Green Lantern:
-a warehouse in Gotham city.
Atom:
What are we waiting for? Let’s get down there. We’ve taken down Kulak before.
Doctor Fate:
It is not so simple, Kulak is a powerful foe, even the Spectre had difficulty defeating him, we nearly lost last time. Directly confronting him could be disastrous. If he has truly freed himself-
The Flash:
Power aside. It seems simple enough to me. The Hawks are in danger, so we have to save them.
Hippolyta:
I would agree with Jay.
Dinah:
Kent, do you think we can distract Kulak long enough to rescue them?
Doctor Fate:
It is possible, however even distracting Kulak will be difficult.
Green Lantern nods, deliberating.
Green Lantern:
We’re no strangers to difficulty, I’m not saying it won’t be tough, but we can come out on top.
Hippolyta:
We are going to need a concrete plan. I have no wish to challenge Kulak unprepared, he likely knows we are coming for him.
Green Lantern:
I agree, so you, me, Flash, and Fate are going to hit Kulak with everything we have, while the rest of you find the Hawks and get them onto the invisible jet. Signal us when you do, we can make a retreat. After that we can figure out how to defeat Kulak.
Wildcat:
Piece of cake.
Green Lantern:
Good, then, JSA, let’s move.
The JSA begins to head out the door.
Green Lantern turns to Hippolyta.
Green Lantern:
Polly, I know you’re upset with me, rightfully upset with me, but I just-
Hippolyta:
Do not worry, Carter and Shiera Hall are my friends, so I will put aside my grievances to help them.
Green Lantern nods.
Green Lantern:
Again, Hippolyta I’m-
Hippolyta:
Save it. Do not let your apologies fall on deaf ears.
She catches up to Dinah, and takes her hand.
EXT. SKIES OF GOTHAM CITY.
The Invisible Jet, Doctor Fate, and Green Lantern land.
INT. THE WAREHOUSE.
Doctor Fate, Green Lantern, Flash and Hippolyta enter. All ready for a fight.
Green Lantern’s ring crackles with fiery power.
Green Lantern:
Kulak! Show yourself!
Laughter echoes in the room.
Kulak [V.O]:
You four believe that you are enough to defeat...KULAK? Without the Spectre, even? I have made worlds crumble, I have made gods shake in fear, I will not be defeated by what amounts to children playing dress up.
Hippolyta grips her sword.
Hippolyta:
I am older than you believe.
Kulak [V.O]:
Face me then, Hippolyta.
In the center of the room, mist coalesces, light flashes, lightning strikes from the sky and Kulak appears.
He blasts magic energy at Hippolyta, who blocks on her bracelets. She leaps towards Kulak, as she collides with him, he becomes mist. The mist blows away, coalescing into his regular form behind Wonder Woman.
Doctor Fate shoots an ankh beam at him, he blocks with magic. But, Hippolyta turns toward him, and leaps, her sword piercing his chest.
He roars in pain, evaporating.
Meanwhile. BLACK CANARY/Dinah Drake leads herself, Atom, Doctor Mid-Nite and Wildcat into the warehouse. They duck behind a few crates.
Black Canary:
We need to find the-
HAWKMAN and HAWKGIRL sit in chains in front of her.
Black Canary:
-Hawks.
She smiles.
Meanwhile, Hippolyta looks around. Kulak’s laugh is heard.
Kulak [V.O]:
I tire of combat, but this is not over. Oh, no. The Justice Society has wronged me in the past, and this is a merely a beginning-
Lightning strikes the ground and four villains appear, NYOLA, OOM, FAIRY TALES FENTON, and STAR SAPPHIRE.
Kulak [V.O]:
-to your futile, last stand.
As the heroes untie Hawkman and Hawkgirl, Hawkman looks up towards them, a yellow eye glowing on his forehead.
