Surprise! (Forget Your Bias)

Summary:

A 5 + 1

Five times Bakugo broke people's expectations on him and the one time someone else did.

Notes:

This lasted way longer than I thought. Also! The sexual harassment part is barely even mentioned! There are also mentions of human trafficking and depictions of bullying. I think that's it though. Enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Intro

When Aizawa asked Katsuki and Izuku to be teachers at UA, Katsuki was fully ready to tell him to fuck off. Teaching brats and being required to be sort of nice to them? Hell no. Aizawa still gave him some time to think about it, though, and the more he thought about it the more he was growing (reluctantly) to the idea. It would give him an opportunity to show the brats why he was the number two hero and how awesome he is in real life.

As expected, Deku accepted right away. He’s always loved kids and being able to train them would make him happy. Plus, Aizawa also offered to let them teach Eri, Kota, Mahoro, and Katsuma. (His decision was made the minute Izuku heard those names and said yes to the offer but he wouldn’t admit SHIT.) So yeah, he and his nerd are going to be teachers. Damn good ones too.

So now he was in his old classroom watching students pour in and look at him in awe. He already has a lesson planned out for the next couple of weeks and it was nothing too hard. He already knew he wanted to be the teacher everyone was terrified of so his lesson plan caters to that. He has no idea what the students' names and quirks are apart from the four so it’ll be a nice surprise. Deku is the combat teacher so they won’t see him until about a couple of weeks in. Katsuki smirks to himself as the bell rings and he stands up.

“Hey, asshats! I’m your teacher Dynamight. Welcome to your next few years in hell!”

————————

One

Monoma Katana didn't know what to expect from Dynamight. From what she had seen on tv he was very strong and brave. From what she heard from her dad, he was annoying and rude. But she ignored that and put her bias aside. She didn’t like judging people until she knew them. So she went into her first day at UA not sure what to expect, hoping that she was right in not taking her father’s warnings to heart.

She was wrong.

She was so so wrong.

It had only been a day and Dynamite-sensei seems to have let the power go to his head. He hadn’t even bothered asking their names and he saddled them with a lecture on how his class would work. He gave them three rules to follow at all times.

  1. Never question his methods
  2. Never ask about his personal life
  3. Never talk shit if you can’t back it up

Mostly everyone already seemed shaken by their teacher’s attitude and Kat couldn’t really blame them. As he kept going on with his rules though, Katana noticed the white-haired girl holding back laughter with the black-haired boy and the two siblings.

She didn’t question it. She just focused back on the front as Dynamite-Sensei finished his lecture. He checked the time and scowled.

“Alright brats. We’ve got time. Introduce yourself to each other one by one of whatever.”

She paid attention to the others introducing themselves so that she could recognize if they had familiar last names (There was a really really pretty girl with really beautiful orange hair that Kat would keep her eye on. (For competition’s sake of course)). Even though a lot of the other students had pros as parents, Dynamite-Sensei only reacted to hers.

“THE COPYCAT BASTARD MADE MORE OF HIMSELF? FUCK.” Dynamite started pacing back and forth while talking to himself. It was too quiet for anyone to hear but it went on for the rest of the class. No one dared interrupt him either. As students jumped from their chairs and bolted out the door, Dynamight finally stopped. He looked straight into Kat’s eyes and grinned. It was terrifying.

She was screwed.

————————

Two

Ashido Kiara knows she’s weird. Her quirk was weirder and nothing like her mom’s. She couldn’t create acid, she wasn’t pink, and she couldn’t make things float. She was dark-skinned, with orange hair, and she could make her DNA into poison.

Any type of poison too. Sleeping, healing, paralyzing, even lethal (She’s had a lot of dark urges since she was a child but her moms never let her submit to them). People see her as a villain most of the time. Once a group of students held her down as they beat her up so badly she was in the hospital for a week. (During that week the school was brutally taken down by Uravity, Pinky, Deku, Ingenium, Red Riot, and Chargebolt. The kids were sent to trial and sentenced to two years.)

She expected UA to be better. There were Pro heroes as teachers and they wouldn’t let any asshole into the school. She’d never met Mr. Dynamite before. She overheard her mom say it was because they would be too much to handle together. She had only met three heroes though so she wasn’t surprised. (Red riot, Chargebolt, and Cellophane came over all the time.)

Anyway, she expected better. Even though during the first introductions just the mention of Phantom Thief's surname pissed him off. (She felt bad for his kid. She was hot.) Kiara didn’t think he was that bad. Even as the days went on. Mostly because, in all honesty, she was kind of exactly like him. She understood her mom more now. She didn’t get into screaming matches with him per se but most of her classmates would leave the room that day with headaches after the two went at it.

After three weeks, they finally got into their hero costumes. They weren’t doing combat training, they were just showing off their quirks. They got partners to demonstrate their quirks on if they needed it. She immediately walked up to Kat. She’d been talking to her for a while since they seemed to be Dynamite's least favorites. Kat had a stronger copy quirk than her father. She could take up to twenty quirks for up to three days. If she trains more she’ll probably be able to hold more for longer. She was so cool! (Not that she’d ever admitted that out loud.)

Each student went up one by one to demonstrate. Aizawa Eri rewound an apple to its seed, Izumi Kota made a beautiful water dragon, Katsuma healed a cut Mahoro had and Mahoro made a holographic monster. Kiara only noted those people specifically because they seemed to be Dynamite’s favorite already. She didn’t care though. She didn’t!

It was her and Kat’s turn. She went first and created a sleeping poison. The only thing now was to get it into Kat. She smirked at the girl, who gave a confused face, strolled up, and kissed her. Despite the Kats tan skin, everyone could see how she turned bright red before ultimately falling asleep. Kiara caught her before she could fall and looked at her class’s faces in case anyone wanted to say anything about her being a villain. Dynamite walked up and knelt down checking Kay over so Kiara decided to explain.

“My quirk is poison. I can create any type of poison that works on anyone as long as I get a piece of my DNA into their body. Most of the time I just scratch people and that works well enough.” She said standing up straighter as she explained to her teacher.

“Then why fucking kiss her, poison brat?” Dynamite said, still trying to shake her awake. He looked up to see Kiara smirking.

“Because I wanted to, old man.” Somewhere in the group of kids, Kota snorted. Then, as Kiara expected, someone spoke up.

“Poison? I didn't know VILLAINS were allowed into UA. I’m surprised Dynamite-Sensei didn’t blast your ass to jail by now. I bet your parents must be ugly, terrible people to birth someone with a villain quirk.” Kiara searched the crowd to glare at whoever it was. When she met the smug eyes of Mineta Kai she growled. She was about to tell him off when Dynamite cut her off.

“Expelled. Get the fuck out.” He said. The class went dead silent. Until Mineta broke it. He had tears in his eyes.

“But- but sir! She’s a villain!” He wept. Dynamite laid Kat gently on the floor and stood up. He turned around and walked up to Mineta. The look on his face was probably terrifying considering the class backed away from the purple-haired child. In a low voice, Dynamite-Sensei spoke.

“The only villain here is you. I remember your fucking dad. Aizawa gave him till his second year to change before expelling his ass. He had way too much patience in my opinion. I heard from Mesmerize that you tried to corner a girl in the bathroom. He let you off with a warning. I don’t tolerate any fucking bullshit like that. So get the fuck out of my sight or I’ll arrest you for quirk discrimination.”

As Mineta scrambled to run away while crying, everyone watched Dynamite in awe and fear. He just expelled someone with no hesitation. Dynamite turned back to Kiara and raised an eyebrow.

“Are you gonna wake up your girlfriend or do I have to take her to Recovery girl?” He smirked as her cheeks heated up at the girlfriend's comment. Kiara gently scratched Kats cheek, giving her a mixture of healing and waking up the poison. She woke up immediately and class went on.

Soon after they finished and they were packing up. Everyone was still in the class but Dynamite took his gloves off and was texting someone. One of the girls squealed. Everyone looked in her direction and she was pointing at Dynamite’s hand.

“DYNAMITE-SENSEI IS MARRIED?!?!” She- Jiro Hana- exclaimed pointing. The class started breaking out into chaos but Dynamite silenced it with a glare.

“What’s rule number two? Ask me about who I’m married to and I’ll make sure y’all will be moving funny for fucking weeks.” Once that was said he gathered his things and walked out.

Kiara and Kat were walking side by side talking about class that day when Kat brought up their teacher's ring.

“I bet it’s Red Riot. They’ve been all over each other since their UA days.” Kiara said, looking at the sky as they walked to a nearby cat cafe for a kinda date.

“I want to say it’s Shoto. Don’t you see them bickering? It’s lovers' banter.” Kat said, opening the door for Kiara to walk through.

“What about Froppy? Or Creati? They seem like good candidates”

“Well at least we know it’s not Deku. Have you SEEN them interact? Dynamite always wants to kill him.” Kat laughed and Kiara chuckled too.

Yeah, there was no way it’s Deku.

——————————

Three

They were going on a surprise field trip somewhere. Shinso Electra didn’t really know why. She wasn’t sure how to react either. She was never really good with emotions. She never felt anything anymore. Well, she did, but she wasn’t sure what feeling it was. She usually just said the complete and honest truth no matter what. (Where she came from it always hurts less.) Being adopted by Chargebolt and Mesmerize also meant that she couldn’t really lie. (Not that her father would use his quirk on her. He’s just way too good at catching lies. She’s seen this, by the way, her dad can never get away with shit.)

They had just loaded onto the bus and she was staring out the window. It’s been around five weeks since school started and most people had their click. There were the four golden apples, the fiery couple, and the gossip squad. The rest jumped from group to group. The only person who really never talked to anyone before was Electra. She figured that going up to people was too hard and she’d rather just get by unnoticed. Even Mr. Dynamite doesn’t call on her. In that place getting noticed or called on was never good.

Electra was brought out of her thoughts by someone sitting down next to her. She would have just ignored the new person but they spoke up.

“Hi! You're Shinso right?” Tokoyami Tsutsui asked, beaming at her. She seemed like someone Father always said to stay away from. People like dad and Midoriya (Whoever that was). Father always said that the minute those types of people see you, they will adopt you and you have no choice but to accept it.

“Yes. Are you going to try and adopt me, Tokoyami?” Electra asked with the tilt of her head. Tokoyamis’s eyes widened before she started laughing. Electra just looked at her confused before she gave another big smile to Electra.

“I like you Shinso. Call me Tsui! I prefer it. I hate formalities.” Electra nodded her head and bowed as much as she could in a tight bus. “Then call me Electra. Dad said I should try and ‘match people’s energy’ Whatever that means.” Tokoya- no. Tsui grinned wider.

The rest of the bus ride was just Electra intently listening to Tsui tell her stories of her favorite pros. Tsui liked Mesmerize the most because they both have mind quirks. She was super happy that he was in their school. Electra wondered what would happen if she told Tsui but dismissed it. Most pro heroes don’t have their names out to the public. Since her father was underground no one knew his name. He went through the trouble of making sure of that. There’s a reason she took his last name instead of her dad’s. Plus she’d find out sooner or later.

Not long after they arrived at the place. When they got off Tsui was still by her side smiling brightly. Her pink eyes and pink hair were waving carefree in the air. She was pretty. Anyone could see that. Electra was brought out her staring by Mr. Dynamite setting off an explosion in the air. It shut everyone up.

“Now that I have you assholes' attention, there’s someone here you need to meet. He’s even more annoying than you brats so try and fuck his life up.”

“Ahhh Kaachan! You’re so mean!” Said a voice walking up to the group. Now, Electra doesn't have a favorite hero list. She doesn’t care about heroes much. The only reason she’s becoming one is that she wants to save everyone who is going through what she went through. So she doesn’t care about heroes currently. She cares about the hero she will be. The only hero that she truly utterly loves was Deku (Much to her dad's disdain). He’s the one that saved her. He’s the reason she’s here. Deku is her number one. So when she sees him walk up next to Mr. Dynamite’s scowling face, she starts smiling. Problem is that most of her classmates have never seen her smile. So that causes her to be the center of attention. Yet, she couldn’t bring herself to care as she watched her teachers talk.

“Kacchan, have you been making a good impression on your students?” Deku said while beaming at the students. His eyes seemed to linger on Electra for a second. Did he remember? No, he doesn’t. You’re not memorable.

“SHUT THE FUCK UP DEKU I CAN DO WHAT I WANT.” Dynamite half growled half-shouted at him. Deku just giggled in response and took a step towards the class.

“Hello! I’m Deku! I will be your combat teacher! Today we’ll be doing quirkless sparring and then we will work on sparing with quirks a week before the sports festival. Find a partner!” Deku barely finished his sentence when Tsui was pulling Electra toward the first mat.

They were pretty much tied when they heard someone squeal. This time, it was Shindo Tamaki. From what Electra had seen he seemed to be a pretty outgoing guy (another person to avoid then). He was holding a blushing Dekus hand out and looking at something shiny on the ring finger. A ring probably. Tsui snorted.

“Who knew the number one pro hero Deku was married? I bet it’s Shoto. Ouuu or maybe Ingenium. What do you think?” Tsui asked her. Tsui never really stopped smiling. It was weird.

“I’m not sure.” Everyone was still watching Shindo gush over the ring until his partner pulled him away. Electra wonders where Mr. Dynamite went. He would’ve had their heads if he realized they were sitting around watching people gush over Deku. Seeing this as an opportunity, Electra excused herself and went over to Deku. As he saw her walk up he beamed.

“What can I do for you, Shinso?” Deku asked cheerfully. She looked down at her hands.

“Well, I didn't see Mr. Dynamite around and decided that if I masked it like that I could come over and ask you a question.” Sometimes, Electra hated that she refused to tell lies. Deku giggled.

“Well, Kacchan is sleeping in the teacher’s lounge. So you can go ahead and ask your question.” Deku said sweetly. Before Electra could say anything though…

“DYNAMITE-SENSEI IS NAPPING? WHAT?!?!” That single statement plunged the class into chaos. Electra could understand why. Mr. Dynamite had them work three times as hard as they have ever worked before. To hear that while they were doing work he would maybe actually enjoy watching, he was in the lounge sleeping was surprising.

It took Deku the rest of the class to calm the class down and the only reason was that Mr. Dynamite came back and leveled them with a glare.

They were loading back onto the bus and Tsui bounced up to Electra. “Did you get to ask him?”

Electra sighed. “No. I doubt Mr. Deku remembers me though.” Before they could fully get on the bus Electra was stopped by a hand on her shoulder. Mr. Dynamite told Tsui to ‘go find some fucking seats while he talks to frizzy brat.’ (Her hair really isn’t that frizzy. It’s just the hairstyle and since it’s naturally light blue it just pops out more.)

Dynamite turns Electra around and bends down to her level. “Listen and listen once. Deku remembers you. I’m not sure how he fucking does it but he remembers the face and names of all of the children from that night. So don’t go fucking think he forgot your, got it?” Electra let the words sink in. Then she’s smiling. She nods quickly and goes onto the bus.

Everyone is looking at her in wonder. Probably wondering what Mr. Dynamite said to make the most neutral student smile. Electra finds her seat next to Tsui and schools her face back even though she’s giddy on the inside. Taking the time to think that their big, scary teacher took the time to reassure her that her personal hero didn’t forget her.

Mr. Dynamite really is an interesting one.

————————

Four

The dorms were pretty nice. Over the years, UA decided to keep the dorms. Instead of having students move in all at once though, they divided the moving dates up by years. Third years, second years, first years. The third years got two months to get situated, then it was the second years, which took another two months, and then the first years. They had all been in their dorms for a month and they had all gotten very close. They didn’t have a choice. Even though they surprised each other a lot, it was inevitable

Tokoyami Tsutsui was in the lap of her girlfriend in the common room. Electra was content enough to watch a random hero show while Tsutsui just scrolled through her phone. All of the class was there except the new girl who joined through the sports festival. They hadn’t seen much of her at all actually. Tsutsui guesses it was just because she hadn’t really had a real class with them. She would fully transfer in around a month.

It was a chill Saturday afternoon with the class just enjoying each other’s company. The fiery couple was playing a card game with the four golden apples, the quiet randoms were on their phones, and the gossip squad was talking about what Kagami Mika’s quirk was (the new girl). Jiro, Hagakure, and Kendo think it’s analysis while Hatsume and Kuragari think it’s physical enhancements. Tsutsui didn’t really care. Kagami was badass with or without her quirk.

“Hey… do you guys smell that?” Ashido spoke up. Tsutsui sniffed the air and sat up abruptly, narrowly missing her girlfriend’s head. It smelled really good.

“Yeah. It smells like… Katsudon?” Tsutsui spoke, sniffing the air some more. It smelled so good. The class looked at each other before jumping up to see who’s making such a godly smell.

Now, none of the class was ready for what they saw next. Bakugo-Sensei was wearing a bright pink space girl’s (Pinky and Uravity’s couple name) apron (Tsutsui saw Ashido take a picture to probably send to her moms out of the corner of her eye). Under the apron was a Red Riot hoodie and Chargebolt sweatpants. He had a Creati spatula. His slippers were limited edition Shoto ones that were made when the hero was still new and his hair was tied back by a Froppy headband. The class gawked at their teacher (who was fully decked out in OTHER heroes' merch) moving around the kitchen as if he lived there.

Bakugo-Sensei finally noticed them and scowled. “Are you brats just going to stand there and watch me or are you going to set the fucking table?” They snapped out of their daze to get to work. It didn’t take long before they were finished and sitting at the long dinner table.

Bakugo-Sensei served them and took two plates for himself mumbling under his breath about ‘stupid damn nerd forcing me to fucking cook for him and the fucking brats.’ As soon as the class was sure he was gone they all burst with noise and questions.

“Bakugo-sensei can cook?”

“Forget that, did you guys see his merch? I knew it was Red Riot!”

“No no, he was also wearing Froppy merch. I was right.”

“He had LIMITED EDITION Shoto merch and y’all think they aren’t married? Pathetic.”

“He and Red Riot had that super interview last week and Red Riot was practically hanging off his arm! There’s no way it’s not him.”

“We don’t even know if he swings that way. It’s Froppy or Creati.”

“Creati is literally married to Earphone jack. Their kid is right there.” Hagakure pointed to Jiro who gave a shy wave.

“Well, Froppy then. Or maybe it’s not even in the 1a class. What about Grand?”

“Nah they fight a lot.”

“They still fight less than him and Deku.” The class all sent a pointed look to Electra, who had suggested that he and Deku are probably married. The girl in question stabbed a piece of pork and stuffed it in her mouth to chew obnoxiously. (The class blames Tsutsui for giving Electra her attitude but it really wasn’t her!) She swallowed.

“I stand by my statement. Bakudeku supremacy.”

“Yeah yeah, whatever Shinso! Hey guys! How about we take a poll? First, we’ll make a list of all those it couldn’t be and then the potential people it could.”

“Great idea!”

The poll looked a little something like this.

No Chance

Creati and Earphone jack

Chargebolt and Mesmerize

Tsukuyomi and Dupliarms

Uravity and Pinky

Cellophane and Can’t stop twinkling

Tailman and Invisible girl

Ship List

Red Riot

Froppy

Shoto

Ingenium

Grand (A/n: that’s Shindo)

Lemillion

Deku (Electra almost fried everyone when they refused to add him)

Lizardly

Phantom thief (Kat tried to dismiss it until Hagakure brought up the fact it could be a hidden relationship thing)

As everyone finished their amazing dinner and went over the list, they realized one thing. They all agreed.

 Bakugo-Sensei could NEVER find out.

----------------

Five

Sero Chieko doesn’t get people. She doesn’t like them either. While she can feel the good emotions, the bad ones are the ones that stand out the most. The greed, the hatred, the jealousy. It’s all more prominent in people. Half the time, she wears quirk suppressants that mostly cancels the part of her quirk that can feel what other people feel. It’s more like a dull feeling compared to the sharp, random feelings of hurt, anger, happiness, and other emotions. It was so hard to tell what emotions were hers and what wasn’t. It wasn’t of any use to her at full strength.

The other aspect, however, was very useful. Being able to push a certain emotion onto people would be great for rescue work. It could keep the people she was saving calm, she could stop panic attacks, and she could stall criminals by making them cry out their sob stories. It wasn’t that badly affected by the quirk suppressants since it’s way stronger than the other one. She did have to push out more but it was good practice.

So yeah, Chieko wasn’t the biggest fan of people and their emotions. People often lied about how they felt and when she called them out on it, they usually started to hate her for being invasive. She hated it. So she asked her dad if she could wear quirk suppressants near the end of junior high when he switched her schools again. It made everything so much easier. So, you can imagine her irritation when she forgot the one thing that’s kept her calm for the past two years.

She was in a rush that morning. No one was around and she was late. She didn’t realize she forgot them until she was in front of the school and felt a fool force wave of emotions. Her breath stuttered and she felt around her neck for the necklace the quirk suppressants were in. She cursed under her breath as a dull throb made her way through her head. It would be a long day.

She ended up still being late, not bothering to try and beat the bell. She was already feeling tired of everyone else around her. Plus, there’s someone who has some insecurity deep down in them. When she slid the door open the strongest emotion she could feel was admiration, fondness, and confusion. She could tell that the last emotion was from the others in her class, but the other two could be attached to the two pros talking upfront. Creati, in casual clothes, was laughing and joking with Bakugou-Sensei. Bakugo-Sensei was snapping back but the words held no real malice. It was… calmer, than what she expected.

Bakugou-Sensei and Creati finally noticed her in the doorway. Bakugou-Sensei gave off a mix of worry and irritation, while Creati was more curious.

“Wanna tell me why you're late, brace face brat?”  Chieko scowled. She interrupted by a light giggle.

“Now now, Katsuki. I’m sure she has a good reason.” Chieko’s head whipped to Creati, who was smiling nicely and emitting energy that reminded Chieko of her dad. It was… nice. Chieko realized that they were still expecting her to answer.

“Sorry, sir. I woke up late and when I got to the front of the school I realized I forgot my quirk suppressants. It threw me off so I didn’t bother rushing to class.” Bakugou-Sensei growled but Creati just lightly put her hand on his shoulder. He LET her. He noticeably calmed down after it too. What the fuck?

“What’s your name, dear?” Creati asked, smiling. Chieko ignored the quiet ‘room from Jiro in the background as she flushed. No one has ever really cared this much.

“Se- Sero Chieko, Creati ma’am.” A flash of amusement stabbed Chieko’s heart.

“Oh please, drop the ma’am. It makes me feel so old.” Creati swatted Bakugou-Sensei when he muttered ‘you are fucking old.’

“May I ask, why do you need quirk suppressants? What’s your quirk?” Chieko can't feel any malice from Creati, so she answers.

“I can feel everyone’s emotions in a 100-mile radius and I can kind of… control them too. The quirk suppressants suppress the feeling part of it because it gets hard to separate them from my emotions.” Chieko hated the number of people who had pity that was radiating off of them. The golden four was more a feeling of awe, which was confusing. Chieko focused back on Creati’s contemplative look.

“I’m surprised Izuku hasn’t gotten ahold of you yet. You’re Sero’s kid so I’m sure it’s very… distracting.” Creati said, still thinking. Chieko wasn’t sure whether or not she should sit down yet.

“Oi, ponytail. Make one for her. Fucking dumbass. You and the nerd and all your fucking thoughts.” Bakugou-Sensei growled out. Although on the outside he seemed irritated, he was actually emitting a worried feeling along with curiosity and… pride? What was he proud about?

Creati pulled her sleeve and made a bracelet with a star as red as Chieko's hair. “I think that I had the right components down. I hope it works correctly.” Chieko took the bracelet softly and put it around her wrist. All of the unwanted feelings around immediately dulled, even better than her usual necklace. She smiled softly to herself.

“Thank you.” Chieko bowed and walked over to her seat next to Aizawa. She liked Aizawa. She was sweet and thoughtful, plus she was more open about her emotions than most people usually were.

“Alright fuckwads-“

“Katsuki!”

“Since the number three hero is here, that means the top three hero students who also happen to be UA alumni are here. Ponytail doesn’t have shit to do and Deku shouldn’t have a class today, so you guys can ask them questions and shit. How’s that sound?” Everyone cheered their agreement.

Soon enough, Deku burst into the room, tripping on his feet and rolling into the room. He looked around from his place on the floor and glared up at a grinning Bakugou-Sensei.

“Kacchan! You said it was an emergency!”

“I never said you had to come running, dumbass.”

Deku huffed and got up. He brushed himself off and smiled brightly at Creati, who smiled back.

“Momo! What are we doing? Why are you here?” Bakugou-Sensei rolled his eyes.

“If you would shut the fuck up, I was getting to that.” The entire class glanced at Electra, who looked very unbothered. She noticed their stares and mouthed the words ‘lovers’. (Chieko’s more of a KiriBaku fan. Whenever Bakugou talks about him, the amount of fondness he radiates is incredible.)

“Alright, dipshits,” ‘Kacchan!’ ‘Katsuki!’ “Who wants to go first?” Almost everyone raised their hand.

“Mini copycat, asses fucker, you're up.”

Kat huffed. “Where do you draw the line? And who’s the most brutal to villains?”

The three froze, then both Creati and Dynamight turned to Deku. He flushed and rubbed the back of his head nervously.

“I… I do admit that in SOME cases I can tend to go… overboard.” Dynamight snorted.

“Last week you almost crippled a guy.” Deku glared.

“He assaulted multiple children! He deserved it!”

“Never said he didn’t, nerd. As for where we draw the line, it depends on what you’re talking about. For minor criminals, we never go all out. For major villains, we try not to cripple them in the process of apprehending them. Next.”

Kat sat down as Electra was picked next. She seemed nervous and Chieko didn’t need her quirk to be able to tell that. Everyone knows about her past. Hell, everyone knows pretty much about everyone’s past. It’s a given since they live together and everything.

“Wha- what’s the most memorable case you’ve ever had?” The three were silent for a couple of moments. Creati is the one that spoke first.

“It was probably my first one. It was an upcoming mafia group and I had to go undercover. It wasn’t as scary as I expected, honestly but what made it memorable was the fact they never wore shoes.” There was a beat of silence before everyone burst out laughing. Even Electra cracked a small smile. When they quieted down Deku went next.

“I’m gonna be honest, this one isn’t all that funny. But a couple of years ago I busted a human trafficking ring. The ring had a handful of young adults but there was one child. One of the villains tried to force the kid to fight for them but they ended up accidentally hurting the villain. I think it’s the most memorable because the lack of emotions was obvious but once I took a look closer into their eyes, there was pure fear and… hope. It made me happy that I was able to save that child.”

The class slowly clapped which gradually got louder. Electra had a poker face but from the way, the tips of her blue hair were turning into electricity she was very emotional.

“Yeah yeah, the nerd is sappy as shit. Like last year, these fuckers called me in because there were mysterious prints on random public property. I track the fuckers down, and it turns out to be their ass prints. So, we had a group of people running around with paint on their asses just so they could mark public property. Shit was hilarious.” The class laughed again, and it went on. As Chieko walked back to the dorms by herself she noticed Kagami Mika limping to another corner of the school. She brushed it off because frankly, she had something else to think about.

It was the second question. Electra looked like she was about to burst out crying or freak out because of all the attention. Bakugou-Sensei took that attention off of her by changing the subject. Chieko would have never guessed that he could be observant, but I guess he is the number two hero for a reason. Plus, the emotions she got from him also opened her eyes a little more. Maybe she would have to ask her dad about him. The more she thought about it, the more apparent it became. He cares for them. Deep down, through all the curses and the nicknames, he cares.

Maybe people are better than Chieko gave them credit for.

Kagami Mika kept to herself. She kept her head down, avoided confrontations, and made sure not to be noticed. She had to. She didn’t have a choice.

Because she was quirkless.

Now, don’t get her wrong. She wasn’t ashamed of it. It was quite normal, honestly. But, she was realistic. The quirkless were looked down upon and hated. So while she took her quirkless status in stride, she still took the necessary precautions to make sure that she didn’t cause too much trouble or bring unwanted attention. That’s why she appears to be the perfect student.

Two parents, good neighborhood, and strong enough to get into the hero course by the sports festival. However, the reality is that her parents kicked her out when she got into UA. She's been homeless since the sports festival and living in secluded alleys. But, she wasn’t sure what the school would do if they found out. She couldn’t afford to be kicked out. Not when she was so close to proving everyone wrong.

To keep it under wraps, she would usually do everything her parents would. She was on top of it and was so far able to avoid suspicion.

Which is why she was currently freaking out.

It was being your parent to school day and everybody's parents are here except for hers. She was so focused on the test that she forgot to get someone to pretend to be her parent for the day. She watched as everyone filed in and talked with each other. (Watching civilian parents meet with heroes was very entertaining.) She would just have to hope that Bakugo-Sensei ignores her again.

The man in question walks in with a scowl on his face and Deku-Sensei behind him, smiling brightly. He turned to face the class and sighed.

“Hi. I’m Dynamight or whatever. This is Deku. Uh, welcome to fuc- I mean welcome to my class. Deku will explain what we’re doing today.” Bakugo-Sensei took a step back and Deku bounced up looking over the room before his eyes lingered on Mika for a couple of moments. He tilted his head and narrowed his eyes in thought, but went on to explain what they’d be doing.

“Hello everyone! It’s so nice to meet all of the parents of our students! You all have amazing kids and you should be very proud. Today we’ll be doing an obstacle course for those who want to be in it and then we will have a huge sleepover in the 1a dorms for those who want to stay.” Everyone cheered and muttered their agreements. Mika just tried to become small.

Most people sat out. They weren’t really up to competing with pro heroes and heroes in training. Mika had no qualms about it. Going up against them would be a fun challenge. Plus the winners got to pick either money or one free day of school that can be used in any of the three years of high school.

So Mika went up to the starting line and began her act. She learned to do this thing in middle school that if she downplays her abilities and pretends that she’s incompetent people underestimate her. It works well in one on one situations.

Since none of the civilians wanted to join in, the students were allowed to pick one support item to use. Mika picked her collapsable bow/batons/staff. It was able to fit four arrows inside which should be more than enough. She made a show of tripping and stumbling multiple times to her spot and noticed that everyone wasn’t looking twice at the quiet clumsy girl that hasn’t shown a quirk. Perfect.

Deku stood by the side and raised his hand.

“Ready...set...GO!” He flicked his fingers into the air and a rush of wind almost set most people back. Mika didn’t let it deter her as she made sure to keep in the middle of the group.

The first obstacle was robots. She split her staff into two and pushed the button to electrify it. She then electrified Chargebolt and when he let out his own electricity she made sure he hugged the robots. No one saw what happened so she went on with the events. Chargebolt was out of the runnings and was being led out by Deku but she didn’t pay any mind to them.

Next was a tunnel of some sort. Mika watched Tokoyami Electra become electricity and was about to go through the ground. Couldn’t have that.

Using the same trick she used with Chargebolt, though she subtly put her baton to the ground watching as Electra overloaded and become flesh again. Judging by her spaced-out look, she was a bit fried and had to be led out too. Mika just focused on winning, following the people with light quirks through the right twists and turns through the tunnel. It was mostly pro heroes and their kids left. Earphone jack, Mesmerize, Creati, Tailman, Invisible Girl, Phantom Thief, Dupliarms, Grand, Tsukuyomi, Cellophane, and Can’t stop twinkling. The only kids left were Monoma Katana, Ashido Kiara, Tokoyami Tsutsui, Sero Chieko, Shindo Tamaki, and herself.

The final part was a free for all. The last one standing wins. Mika smirked. She knew exactly what to do.  Mika hid in the shadows of the arena and watched as all the pros took out their kids really quickly, before turning on each other. It was honestly entertaining.

Mika assembled the bow aspect of her support item and picked the right arrow. The remaining pros were Mesmerize, Creati, Uravity, and Pinky. Easy.

Mika was very good with a bow and arrow. So good that many people thought it was a quirk of hers. She was honored, but it really was only because she sometimes had to hunt and birds move REALLY fast.

Mika lined up her shot with her prey and let the arrow go. The bow hit Uravity in the leg and she went down immediately. That was the tranquilizer arrow. Good.

She only had two tranquilizers left so she had to choose wisely. She aimed at her next victim and shot Pinky in the arm who also went down quickly. She took her last tranquilizer and shot Creati with it as fast as she could so that she wouldn’t have time to make anything else. Mika took her time in lining up her shot with Mesmerize and was able to hit him right in his left calf. Perfect. She might actually have a shot at winning this. That way, she can get the money and be able to stay somewhere nice when they couldn’t stay in the dorms.

Mika stepped out of the shadows with a wide smirk on her face. Before she stepped out she had put her bow back into the staff. Mesmerize leveled her with a blank look, which made her smirk wider.

“While this has been fun, I think I want to claim my prize now. Sorry, Mr. Mezmerize sir.” Mika got into a fighting position and Mesmerize gave her a lazy smirk.

“This should be interesting.”

--------

Izuku had been keeping an eye on Kagami Mika for a while. There were too many similarities between her and his middle school self. She stayed unnoticed, would make herself appear unharmful, and was wary of other people. Katsuki had noticed it too, but he wanted to wait for her to slip up so they could help. Izuku didn’t want to, though, so he watched her from afar.

They didn’t even know what her quirk was. UA didn’t require them to put down their quirk unless absolutely necessary. They’d have to go through the quirk registry but that would require talking to the parents which was difficult since they had never seen Kagami’s parents.

Izuku focused back on the obstacle race. He watched Kagami at the beginning when she made herself not look like a threat. He also watched her take out Denki in moments along with Electra. It was impressive while also concerning.

He watched as she took out some of the most powerful heroes and then stepped out to face a pro hero, head-on. He saw her shoot him with something and judging by the way she spoke freely he guessed quirk suppressants.

The fight was, interesting. It was fast-paced with Kagami on the defensive and Hitoshi on the offensive. Hitoshi was doing good with his scarf as Mika dodged and moved to avoid getting captured.

Then, in a blink of an eye, Kagami switched fighting styles. Before she was focusing on using her staff as an extension of her arms and now she’s focusing on her legs. Izuku could barely switch fighting styles when he’s practicing but switching in the middle of a fight? Really fucking cool. Hitoshi was obviously caught off guard because he paused for a moment. That moment was enough for Kagami to floor sweep him off his feet and win the battle. Izuku smiled as everyone else cheered. What a special kid.

------------

After winning the obstacle course and after everyone congratulated her, Mika tried to speed walk to her dorm, only to be stopped by some of her old classmates who were watching what happened. They had their own obstacle course but it wasn’t as interesting as watching pro heroes go against heroes in training.

Mika was mentally freaking out when Itsuri, Miie, and Rochi stopped her. Her class was still behind her talking with the pros and their own parents. They would see what was about to happen. After she just proved she was strong enough to stand on her own. This was bad.

“H- hi guys.” Mika flinched when Itsuri took a step forward, sneer on his face. “How the fuck did you do that, Red?”

Mika winced at the nickname. She didn’t notice the group of pros and classmates behind her quiet down.

“Do...do what?” Itsuri put his hand on her shoulder.

“Don’t make me repeat myself you geneless fuck.” Mika felt a shark pain on her shoulder and bit her tongue so she didn’t let out a yelp.

“I won fair and square Itsuri. It’s not my fault you didn’t get in the hero course.” Itsuri’s eyes went wide with fury and Mika felt fear wash over her as dark images flashed through her mind. Rochi is using his quirk now. “An orphan quirkless fuck like you gets into the hero course by luck and thinks now she’s all that? Guess I got to put you in your place again, Red.”

Itsuri is faster than Mika as he puts his hand over her heart and activates his quirk. Mika sees a bunch of terrifying imagines as her heart feels like it’s being pulled out of her chest. Mika doesn’t see a flash of green, orange, black, purple, and pink restrain the three. Mika doesn’t notice getting picked up by strong arms and doesn’t feel the air rushing by. All Mika can feel is the feeling of her heart being pulled out of her chest and all the memories of her parents coming to the front of her mind.

Mika doesn’t even realize she fell asleep in her favorite hero’s arms.

----------

To say Izuku was pissed was an understatement. Kagami was quirkless. It made sense. All the red flags and the hiding were because she was quirkless. He wishes he had realized sooner. Plus, she was also an orphan? How was she getting home? Did she have a home? How long was she suffering quietly?

Izuku shook his head as he paced outside Regen’s office. They wouldn’t take too kindly if they saw him overthinking again. He took a deep breath in and a deep breath out just as Regen came out of the infirmary.

“How is she?” Izuku asked immediately. Regen chuckled and led him into the infirmary.

“The pain she was feeling wasn’t real. If going by Itsuri’s file is anything. It felt very real to her though so I’ll be keeping her on painkillers. She should wake up at any moment.”

Izuku thanked Regen and sat by her bedside and watched as she slept peacefully. Her curly half green half grey hair was like a crown around her head as her eyebrows had no creases in them. How could anyone hurt her?

Mika stirred a little before waking up with a gasp and clutching her heart. Izuku’s heart throbbed at the slight distress leaking through the pain killers. He gently grabbed her hand and pulled it away from her chest, causing her to look at him. She broke out into a lopsided grin.

“Mrrrr. Dekkkuuu, you’reee so coolllll.” Mika slurred her words and Izuku chuckled.

“Thank you, Kagami. You’re really cool too.” Mika scrunched up her nose and shook her head.

“I haven’t been Kagami in three years Dekuuuu. Mika is my name. Mommy and daddy didn’t want me to be Kagami no more. So I’m only Mika.”

“Ok...Mika. May I ask, where do you usually live.” Mika pouted in thought.

“I live with muda natua. Mudha… moooothhher naaattturrree. Hehe. That’s a funny name.” Izuku frowned and bit his lip in thought. One of their students was kicked out for being quirkless and living out on the streets for three years? No fucking way. Not anymore. Fuck quirkless discrimination.

“Mika-chan did you know I’m married to Dynamight.” Mika stopped laughing about funny words and looked at him with her mismatched grey and green eyes.

“So, Electra won the bet. Damn.” Izuku laughed and ran a finger through her hair. His heart swelled as she leaned into the touch.

“I thought I should tell you so that you fully know what you get out of this offer.” Mika looked at him with curious eyes and Izuku took a deep breath in.

“How would you like to live with Me and Kacchan?”
