Children of Hades are Rarely Ever Happy

Summary:

“Greek mythology is full of people who have escaped their fate in the Underworld. So why couldn’t the same be said for a Daughter of Hades?”

Bianca Di Angelo faked her rebirth. Plain and simple. Now she was angry. Very angry. Much too angry and bitter than a girl her age should be.

But it was her fatal flaw, and when a child of the Underworld holds a grudge; they hold onto it with a death grip.

Notes:

This was originally going to be a 1-2 chapter dabble on Bianca di Angelo, but here we are with me trying to write a whole other book (or series). Enjoy! Comment & Kudos are appreciated <3

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Faking someone’s rebirth isn’t easy.

Especially when your father is Lord of the Dead and feels the need to keep a close eye on you as a means of apology. As if he hadn’t screwed up your time in the Land of the Living to begin with. But Greek mythologies are full of people who have escaped the afterlife right under the god’s nose, so why couldn’t the same be said for his daughter? There was planning that had to go into it. When you’re under the watchful eye of your father and the never ending searching eye of your brother, it leaves very little wiggle room. In the end, two can play at that game.

The shadows curled around her fingers and she caressed them like a black cat’s fur. They weaved themselves into her hair. Sewed themselves into her clothes. Seeped into her skin like the ink of tattoos. They spoke of their father, Erebus, with glee; and of their mother, Nyx, with joy. They whispered dirty secrets you tell your best friend in the night and talked of deals made by mortals who used them as a means to hide their shameful faces from Apollo’s light.

‘Cousin,’ the Shadows called her. ‘Sister. Our family in the end. Bound by darkness.’

Her cousins. Her lovers. Her sisters, brothers, and children. Her family in the end. Bound by darkness. They wrapped around her body. It was cold. Freezing. Terrifying even. ‘We are helping you,’ They said. ‘Our cousin, sister, lover, mother, family by bond. Let us help you.’

So she left go. Fell back. Down. Down. Down. As the light of Elysium faded above her, she closed her eyes; forming her own darkness. This was a different rebirth. One she created on her own accord by splitting the ground in paradise.

‘Open your eyes,’ Her family said to her. ‘Sister, open your eyes. Mother. Father. Their own Maker, even, wishes to met you.’

She opened her eyes and was struck with awe and fear.

“Bianca Di Angelo,” A voice said. Three pairs of eyes looked upon her out of the darkness. The nebulas. The stars. “Your calling is greater than what you know.”
