Chapter Text
Several minutes after Toriel fell asleep, they got up.
*❤ Kris, you don't have to do this. '
' But I want to. I gotta make up for that somehow, right? '
*❤ You don't, Kris. '
They shrugged, and left the note they'd written where they sat seconds before, and sneaked out through the door, making sure to be silent.
Then, they unlocked the car with the stolen keys, hoping the sound won't wake anyone up.
They got in, released the hand brake, got out, and started pushing the car to the intersection.
Once there, they got in and started it.
Asgore had taught them how to drive, despite Toriel's wishes. It was done safely out of traffic with supervision of course.
Now, it would come in handy.
They drove the way their makeshift map lead them to.
They were stopped by a barricade, and had to get out to open the way.
Just as they were halfway done, however, they spotted a familiar blue bird.
"Kris?!" Berdly shouted, at the sight of them cutting police tape with their knife and their mom's car behind them.
"Uh, hello Berdly." They had a bad feeling about this.
"Just what are you doing?!"
"Uh, going on a drive?"
Berdly seemed to think for a minute, before an unholy expression appeared on his face.
"Well, I'll call your mom if you don't take me with you."
"What?!"
"Unless you want me to call the police, of course."
You know what? If he wanted to tag along for this, it was his funeral.
They finished their job and got into the car, waiting for him.
He rode shotgun.
This was going to be a long drive, wasn't it?
.
.
.
The drive was luckily uneventful, they miraculously weren't stopped by any cops and even more miraculously didn't crash the car. To be honest they probably wouldn't have done this without the safety net of Resets.
And thank god Berdly was relatively quiet.
Soon, they were driving through the trails of Mt. Ebott.
Aaaand they ran out of fuel.
Goddamnit.
They pushed the car somewhere safe with Berdly helping maneuver it, before pulling the hand brake.
They were pretty high, they probably wouldn't find any gas stations here.
Not that it would mean anything if they could.
And their cell phone had no reception.
They decided to take a look around before Loading.
Berdly was panicking, but followed them the moment they started walking away.
"Where are we going, Kris?" He asked, his smug facade torn the hell down by worry.
"I'm trying to find a house of sorts. There's gotta be someone here somewhere, right?" They lied through their teeth.
Berdly clung to them. Great.
The greenery was pretty thin, and there was nothing in sight.
But, they saw what seemed to be a faint trail.
They decided to follow it.
Soon, they came across a cave. It had a large entrance, roots growing inside, and a solid floor.
*❤ This place feels familiar... '
' Huh? '
*❤ I feel like I've been here, but also not? It's really weird, like I'm looking at a memor- Oh my god this is The Cave. '
' What? '
*❤ This is the place where Chara fell down. '
' But where's the hole? '
*❤ I... Don't know. '
They grinned.
'Then let's make one. '
"Hey Berdly, can you wait in the corner?"
"What? Why?!"
"I'm gonna open a Dark Fountain, so we can take shelter till morning."
"O-oh! Alright!"
They brandished their knife, before holding it up in the air.
' Take my right arm '
*❤ What? '
' We'll do this together. '
There was a mental sigh, and their right arm was no longer theirs to control.
They breathed in and out.
"3"
"2"
"1"
They plunged their knife into the ground, unleashing a pristine white beam, and causing Berdly to shriek. It rapidly turned black. It felt cold, but their Determination kept them grounded against the current.
Soon it ceased, and the room started filling up with black smoke.
They hoped they didn't wake up in Castle Town.
.
.
.
They woke up in a cave.
It had an entrance, leading to a short path straight to the Fountain with no obstacles in the way.
In the other direction, was a hole with a Save Point next to it.
"Kris! Is... Is this it? I honestly expected better." Berdly said, looking down at the hole.
They scoffed, Saved, and pushed him down.
And jumped right after him, barely catching glimpse of something appearing up in the air. Oh well, it was probably nothing-
Suddenly, they passed through a dark veil of sorts, immediately transforming their clothes back to their Light World varients.
They did a flip, and landed in...
A patch of Golden Flowers, in a pitch-black cavern.
