I am the Wild

Summary:

Juan was just taking a walk through the local flora and fauna, when he unfortunately was turned into a cat.

Follow him on his life-changing and dangerous path.

Chapter Text

The last rays of sunlight broke through the leaves of a forest. It's trees received a golden glow, as the night began to settle over the woods.

At this time a young man could be seen stumbling along an overgrown path. Soon the sun set completely and only the moonlight illuminated the forest. But it's possible intruder and witness of beauty went onwards, for he was unaware of the strange events that would soon follow.

Juan took a walk through the nearby forest. He searched for a hidden meadow he had often passed through, when he had been but a little lad playing in the forest and showing his mother all the new stones he had found near the river.

With the years the nature had overgrown their secret trail, which was now completely undetectable. Unless you knew where to look.

Juan found his way well enough. Some twigs would scratch at his face and arms. The forest quieted down after a while and it became harder to avoid branches as the world around him turned darker.

He slowly became aware of his misfortune. He had lost his way a while ago. The light was too dim.

Behind some trees and bushes, something emmited an unnatural glow. Hoping it wasn´t a seriel killer and it could help him get home, he began to close in on whatever it was. To immedietly stopp in his tracks.

"What the hell?!"

Was that a cat sitting on a glowing stone?

That was strange. Was he dreaming? His thoughts were cut short, because the brown-haired cat started hissing and jumping at him.

In his defence he reacted in a "narutal-common-sense" way. He will not take criticism of any sort, considering he was alone and the cat obviously planned to harm him in some way.

Like he said, not his fault that he punt that creepy (and probably rabies infested) fluff-ball into a random tree.

What happend next, was a blur. The last thing he felt was the impact of his body on the forest ground before he succumbed to darkness.

Juan's finger twitched. He could sense feeling return to his limbs. He was aware of the slow intake and exhale of air to his lungs. He felt ready enough to open his eyes now.

He was not ready enough to have opened his eyes.

As it was now, he laid completely perplex in what looked like an open clearing. A huge rock in front of him and an seemingly unending expense of trees and bushes. He could not make out were the sun could be, washing the whole place in an bizarre light.

In his haze he failed to notice the cat walking up to him.

"Hello, my dear. I know you must be confused right now, bu-"

"What do you mean confused?! You're a cat and you´re talking! What the fuck! Is this a dream?! A nightmare?! God, what´s happening?" The white cat, that was talking before Juan interrupted her, fixed her piercing yellow eyes and waited patiently. She caught onto the desperate look in his eyes. His voice seemingly dripped with fear and despair. Her heart softend for the scared and confused kit kneeling in front of her.

"Don´t worry, no harm will come to you. I´m Cloudberry! We will explain everything, just try to calm down!" Cloudberry said in the most soothing voice she could muster and only ever used for injured kits. At last he started to relax a bit, and the tension in his shoulders began to ease. But the look on his face still showed the same amount of unease and doubt.

Knowing Juan couldn´t run away, he observed the other cats who encircled him. They we're looking at him with misguiding interest, that let the hairs on his neck stand up. Huh?! That feels strange! This reaction bought Juan something akin to pity of the surrounding cats. This didn't particularly help him in this situation.

What would he need pity for? When he will wake up from this weird ass nightmare everything will just stay as it was, right? Right?

"You´re currently on StarClan territory. When you kicked a cat off of the moonstone he stole, you somehow must have been resurrected in the body of a cat, Twoleg!" A speckled gray tom hissed at him.

"Stay out of this, Goosefeather! And don´t be so rude!" Cloudberry spit at (supposingly) Goosefeather, and instantly put her eyes back on Juan as to see the newcomers reaction.

He was not fairing well.

Ehhh, he could´ve been of worse, tho!

"W-what?!" Juan muttered quietly, the others wouldn't have heard him, if it wasn´t for their enhanced hearing. Everything was spinning around him, but it didn´t quiet feel like dizzyness. More like what happened to him before he got here. A sense of relief filled him, until he looked in the horror filled gazes the other cats sent each other. He was being sent home, right?

"When you wake up, follow the river and wait for a patrol. Say you need to talk to their leader." A male voice shouted over all the ruckus in the light-flooded clearing. His world turned again to black.
