Chapter 4: The stars align ~

Summary:

This morning, Blake decided to take the train to school instead of the bus. It was quite the change, she's never been in a train so early. She even half expected the train to just not come, but thankfully, one pulled up to the station. She walked onto it, and found a seat with few people near. The train was made from metal, the chairs were not comfortable at all, and Blake underestimated how loud the train could be. She hated only how hard it was for her to get an extra hour

The ride to her school was bumpy, loud, and uncomfortable, but Blake quite enjoyed the solitude. Somehow, she managed to close her eyes and ignore the noise. She listened the music, and relaxed.

She closed her eyes, but something just kept on bothering her. Something was missing. She opened her eyes and checked her bags, and saw a little star clip in her bag.

"Ah. I see. That's what's been bothering me." She thought. She picked up the clip and put it in her hair. Feeling the clip in her hair made her relieved. She closed her eyes again, thinking the ride to school would just be as uneventful as taking the bus.

That was, until someone tapped her on the shoulder.

Chapter Text

Things went on for months. Things happening in the living world, and in the dream world, the three would all awaken to talk, hug, and have the fun that they were missing out on in the real world.

She hated only how hard it was for her to get an extra hour of sleep before school. To distract herself from all this, she pulled out her phone and started to listen to music. Maybe she could try and find something loud enough to block out the noise. She found a song. 'Sleeping On Trains'. Pretty fitting.

She pressed it, and closed her eyes.

"Bye mom, I'm going!" Damian called from the front door. He soon saw his mother running up to him to hand him a small lunch-box. His mother put the box into Damian's bag, and then kissed him on the cheek.

"Bye dear, have fun." She said. Damian smiled at her and left for the train station. He sat on a bench, and waited for his train. The sun was just beginning to rise. Damian liked to watch the sun rise at this time. It was calming for him. Sometimes he would just stare into the sky and forget what was happening beside him, just let himself go get lost in his own imagination. It was some kind of catharsis for him. There was a loud noise, signaling the train had arrived and was pulling into the station. He got ready his bag, got up from his seat and walked onto the train. He turned one way and walked until he found a seat away from people. He saw a girl, asleep on one of the seats.

The girl had short orange hair, almost as short as Damian's hair, still she had to tie it. Her sweater was hanging off her shoulder, showing her white polo underneath. A tie hung from her neck, with a crest, symbolizing what school she was from. A school not far from Damian's. You could see bags under her eyes, and her brows were permanently furrowed. She looked angry. Or tired. She looked to be Damian's age. Something about the girl told him that she was someone like him. Going through something. She reminded him of someone. Someone. Damian didn't want to wake her up, but he wanted to know if someone was sitting beside her already since Blake's bag was already on the chair.

He lightly tapped on her shoulder.

Her olives eyes fluttered open.

"Hey, so sorry to wake you up, but is someone sitting here?" Damian asked lowly, quietly, gesturing towards the chair next to Blake. She quickly took out one of her earphones. Blake saw a boy. A fluffy brown haired boy, with eyes colored amber, almost golden.
"Oh, no! No! No one is sitting here, I'm sorry. Also you didn't wake me, I was already awake, just closed eyes." She took her bag and placed it behind her. Then she rested her head as she sunk into her chair.

Since they had already made an interaction, Blake felt obligated to say something more. She didn't really have to, but something at the back of her mind was telling her it was the right thing to do, so she turned to the boy and said something.

"Where are you off to?" She asked.
"Oh, I'm going to school." He answered.
"Me too... What's your name?"

"Damian."

Blakes eyes slightly widened.

"...Is there something wrong?" Damian asked.

"No! Nothing! Just, you remind me of someone, and you even have the same name."

"There's no way... Is he even real?? Is Damian- No. No, he can't be!... Is that really Damian...?" Blake was lost in her own train of thoughts that she forgot to say anything else.

"Hun!" Her mother called to her as Jordan was about to walk to the train station. She turned to her mother. "Are you not bringing this?" her mother asked, holding her lunch box.

"No!" Jordan said, urgently. Almost as if she was scared of the lunch box. "They provide food at school now mom, don't worry about it." She lied through her teeth/

"Fine. Have a good day at school." Mother said.

Jordan walked from her house to the train station. She sat down on a bench and waited for her train. Somehow, during this time, where she lives, a lot of people accumulate at the train station. The sun has just risen. The train soon pulled into the station. A lot of people got onto the train, so Jordan shuffled quickly to the seats at the farthest end of the train where there was the least amount of people. There were many conversations, and so many loud sounds. Some things Jordan hated. She sat down quickly, and put her bag on the floor.

"Finally," Jordan thought as the people started to quiet down. She took the time as opportunity to fix her hair. She tied her hair into a small pony tail, and stared off into the distance. Lost in her thoughts. She turned to her side to see she sat next to a brightly ginger girl, closed eyes, listening to music. She didn't seem asleep, so Jordan thought maybe it was her chance to actually try to make a friend. The girl looked familiar anyway.

"Hey," She greeted. The girl beside her opened her eyes, and looked to Jordan gingerly.
"Hello...!" Blake greeted back. Her heart fluttered at the sight of the girl. The same way it did when she first saw Jordan.
"Uh... Do I know you...? You look... scarily familiar." Blake asked.
"Hm. I don't know, maybe I just have one of those faces?" Jordan replied.

"And hey," Blake turned to call the boy sitting on the opposite side of her. "Just a quick question, do we know each other?"
"Honestly, I thought I would ask you that myself, you seem very familiar." He said. He noticed the girl on the other side of Blake. "Oh, wow. Both of you look familiar. I doubt that we've met before, the people you remind me of are just misty memories."

"Yeah... Well, since we all seem to recognize each other, might as well just know each other. Hi, my name is Blake!"

"...Blake?" The dark haired girl muttered.
"Yep! Why? What's wrong?"

"No, nothings wrong...M-My name is Jordan."

"Dan??" Damian responded, bolting his head up to look at his friend.

"I'm going to assume your name is Damian?" Blake turned to him.

"...Yes. That's me, Damian!"

"Wait... what? What is happening??" Blake exclaimed. "...You guys are... real?"
"Well, I feel real," Damian said.
"I didn't think you guys would be here..." Jordan said.

Realization dawned over Blake. Her friends. Her family. They were finally there with her. Her breath was caught in her throat, her heart was racing. They were finally... there.

"Oh my god...! Oh my god! Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!! You guys are... here! Oh my god, you're real! You're here! What in the world?!" She started freaking out, failing to contain her excitement. And her smile. And her tears. She looked to the others sitting next to her, to see them smiling at her.

Jordan looked to Blake, smiling helplessly. She exhaled laughter, and hugged her friends. Tightly. Finally. Although they have hugged in the dream world many many times, something about feeling their warm bodies against her own was much better. It felt more real. It was real. That's something Jordan never thought she would do, yet here they all were. Hugging each other on a train on the way to wherever. She pulled away from the hug. She looked to her friends.

Blake was rubbing her eyes, trying to stop tears of happiness flowing out of them. She was smiling. Laughing, repeatedly saying the words "Oh my god, you guys are here". "Oh, to hear her laugh all the time," Jordan thought to herself. Seeing her friend this happy made her happy. Blake quickly sighed and turned to Damian, who was patiently waiting for her to pull herself together. They laughed together, at the thought that they were finally together, and the thought that they had so much ahead of them. They smiled to each other, and then turned to Jordan. Jordan was just watching the two of them. Both of them. They were her family. She laughed through her teeth. The way they all felt was just indescribable. The feeling of finally being able to be with the people you love, getting to be able to see them, the reassuring thought that they are there for you through thick and thin.

"Ah." Damian said.
"What?"
"I knew I recognized that pin of yours." He said, pointing to the star shaped hair clip in Blake's hair. Damian turned to his bag, quickly grabbed his sun shaped clip and put it in his hair. Jordan chuckled and found her moon shaped clip in her pocket. She too put her clip in her hair.

"Hey, remember when you told me that if we lose the clips we lose the memories we have together, was that true?"

"Pfft, you believed me?? Me and Jordan have had these clips for a while before you came into the picture, I genuinely broke the clip a couple times in the real world, but nothing a little but of tape can't fix! Plus, nothing's happened to my memory, I just said that to scare you." Damian explained. Jordan started laughing.

They had some catching up to do.

They all exchanged numbers, answered a few questions that were saved in each others' brains.

They decided on meeting up somewhere, keeping in touch online, and just tried to stick together in the real world. Though, that wouldn't be a problem for them, every night, they would see each other it's as if they had never left. Tonight, meeting up in the dream world will be eventful.

Soon enough, Blake had to get off the train and get to school.

"So, I'll see you both on Saturday?" She asked. The others nodded. She smiled to them, and then she was off the train.

Maybe school wasn't her strong-suit, nor family relationships, but Blake was finally with the people she felt most comfortable with. Blake never knew if she would ever find a home, but really, home isn't where you are, it's who you're with. And with her friends, Blake is home, and there is no place like home.
