Chapter 1: Dream,

Chapter Text

Hi.

I don’t know how a person is supposed to address a letter to an Endless. I don’t even know what an Endless is. (God? Extradimensional being? Personification of a metaphysical concept?) I’m just going to assume you won’t care if I get it wrong. You probably won’t even get this letter anyway, but I have to try. I need your help.

Jed’s been dreaming of that woman again. The one who looked like my mom, when we found him. I know she was trying to help him back then, but I’m worried. He spends a lot of time asleep. He’s been late for school a few times because he didn’t want to wake up. I remember you saying she was a nightmare. Jed’s been having a lot of those since I brought him home. The last thing he needs is more of them.

Maybe it’s my fault. I never got around to explaining everything that happened. The moment never seemed right, and we were so busy getting everything sorted out with Unity’s estate, and me getting custody and enrolling both of us in school and and and…! He was having a hard time readjusting to a halfway normal life so I focused on getting him help. I thought if he could process what happened after our dad died first it might make it easier to explain the REALLY weird stuff. I should have told him sooner.

Jed seems okay, but I want to make sure and I don't know how. I can’t cross into other people’s dreams anymore. (If I could, I’d probably have had a visit from you by now.) As far as I’m concerned, after trying to kill me, you owe me this. That woman is a nightmare, so she answers to you.

Make her leave Jed alone.
